Hostel Serena

I don't understand how this hostel is rated so high. the location was randomly far away, sure it had an alright view but definitely not worth the price. it says it has a pool, hot showers & a games room = more like a pond, the shower turned on and off constantly with very very limited hot water and the games room consists of a broken football table. I do not recommend. to top it off the guy running the place is weird and tries to overcharge you to pay more in dollars/Bolivianos,keep refusing

The description needs to be more accurate: "bathroom outside the dorm" does not mean outdoor bathroom and yet this is what you will get. Thanks a lot to the volunteer, he's the nicest guy even, thanks for our daily talks ;)

Beautiful place, however there were some let downs. “Buffet” breakfast is not a buffet. Its decent enough but definitely not a buffet. Check in and out is advertised as flexible, however this was not our experience. Volunteers were lovely and the scenery is beautiful to rest and relax.

We loved the location of this place. It's obviously a bit far from the town and impossible to reach by walking if you have a suitcase, but it is very quiet and in an unique spot with a great view of the town. The place overall is very quiet and Bert is a very nice host! We were not in love with the breakfast though, and the facilities are kind of old. I would still recommend this place, but don't expect a big level of luxury or similar

Hostel Serena ligt op een werkelijk prachtige locatie. We hadden een eigen kamer met eigen badkamer wat erg comfortabel was. Er is een heerlijke tuin om in te relaxen. Eigenaar Bert is een aardige man en helpt je graag met dingen te verkennen in de omgeving. Onder andere een wandeling die je kan doen op eigen gelegenheid, zonder gids!

Best Hostel Ever!

very nice place to chill out for a bit. quite expensive for a hostel and a bit of a walk up the hill but overall a very enjoyable experience

Fijne plek, mooi uitzicht over het dorp. Het is wel een goeie klim naar boven voordat je bij het hostel bent. Lekker ontbijt en erg vriendelijk personeel die voor al je vragen klaar staat.

Nice big breakfast, location is beautiful but 15-20min walking uphill from the village

not a Laundry or a Laundry-Service

Sehr tolles Hostel! Die Stimmung ist sehr familiär und das Hostel sauber. Die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, das Frühstück sehr lecker! Immer wieder!

Schönes Hostel mit einem geradezu paradiesischem Garten. Etwas hoch am Hang gelegen, daher zu Fuß nur mit etwas Anstrengung zu erreichen, aber der Ausblick und der Garten entschädigen für all Mühen. Bert ist nett und sehr hilfsbereit. Als unser Bus nach Sucre gecancelt wurde, verhalf er uns innerhalb eines Nachmittages zu einer Lösung. Die Zimmer sind tiptop, die Ausstattung der Küche könnte etwas umfangreicher sein. Ansonsten volle Empfehlung!

Tout était absolument parfait ! L’hostel est super bien équipé avec un hôte adorable. Tellement reposant et agréable, bonus pour le petit déjeuner délicieux

One of my favourite hostels in Latin America. Very chilled and friendly atmosphere with beautiful scenery overlooking Saimpata. The owner Bert is a great guy who will help you settle in, and has a brilliant music collection which helps with the vibe of the place. The breakfast lodge is another highlight

Great hostel, every detail is thought about and the volunteers were really great. It is a bit of a steep walk uphill to get to the hostel on rural roads.

Wunderschöner Ort, sich such mehrere Tage aufzuhalten. Grosszügiger Küchenbereich mit bequemem Wohnzimmer und gemütlicher Einrichtung. Zimmer sind mit genügend Ablageflächen ausgestattet. Im wunderschön angelegten Garten mit super Aussicht aufs Dorf und die Berge lässt es sich in Hängematte, beim Pool oder sonstigen lauschigen Plätzchen sehr gut erholen. Der mit Herz gestaltete Garten mit Liebe zum Detail lässt die Seele baumeln. Würde jederzeit dahin zurückkehren. Alles sehr gast...

Absolut 10/10. Das Hostel war mit Abstand eins der besten Hostel, in dem ich bisher war. Die Lage ist etwas auf dem Berg oben und man hat eine tolle Sicht über Samaipata. Badezimmer und Schlafzimmer sind im top Zustand und sehr sauber, ich hab unglaublich gut geschlafen (3 Bett Dorm). Auch die Küche ist gut ausgestattet, sauber und groß. Der Besitzer steht für alle Fragen zur Verfügung und war sehr hilfsbereit, auch die Freiwilligen sind sehr toll. Kein Partyhostel und weniger Backpacker...

Hotel Serena is een plek om tot rust te komen! Het heeft een grote tuin met veel plekjes om te zitten en te genieten van het uitzicht. De keuken is ruim en het ontbijt bestaat uit vers fruit uit de tuin!

My stay went very well. Bert is a great host

The place is absolutely wonderful and the owner Bert is very kind and helpful at any moment. We arrived the day before the election and Bert helped us organizing being picked up at the airport of Santa Cruz directly and did everything he could to make our trip easier. I can only recommend the Hostal Serena.

Het hostel was prachtig gelegen met uitzicht op de zonsondergang. Het eindje lopen moet je er dus wel bijnemen. De kamers waren proper en gezellig. Bij het ontbijt miste ik nog wat beleg, we kregen soms enkel pindakaas en boter. De verse pannenkoeken waren wel heerlijk!

Wunderschöne Location. Sehr gute und bequeme Unterkunft, sehr netter Host. Sehr reichhaltiges und leckeres Frühstück. Das Duscherlebnis war fantastisch. In einer dunklen Ecke des Geländes kann man Nachts den Sternenhimmel sehr gut sehen.

Hostel Serena truly provided a wonderful stay. Its peaceful location, a bit outside the city, was a real plus for a quiet atmosphere. The place has a beautiful and relaxing garden. The volunteers and Bert, the house owner, were exceptionally helpful and nice to hang out with. The overall vibe here was really nice. I would certainly recommend staying here!
