Unfortunately, we didn't feel comfortable at all in this hostel. Checking in was super complicated and the first thing you smell when you walk through the door is mold. We felt like we were constantly being watched due to all the cameras in the hostel and also didn't feel comfortable around the host as he seemed a bit controlling. There was mold in the shower, no towels and it cost 5€ to store your luggage just to have it in the hallway. The value for money is definitely not right at all.
Terrible place would never call this a hostel payed 100 euros a night got a s***** bad not kitchen and its more of a 2 star hotel. Because there was not kitchen we asked for a different place the managers made of pay 175 euros more for another place. When we got there there was cockroaches every where including the kitchen and all so he forgot to mention that every helf an hour from 7 am there is a church who doesn't stop to ring there bells. All so cheap ass breakfast don't expect somtinggood
Atrocious communication and items possibly stolen. An item of mine was missing and when I asked the owner about it he said I had left it behind and that he’d get it back to me. After communicating with Paulo, sending my mailing address multiple times, offering to pay the cost of shipping, and calling him never heard from him again. Not sure if he just wanted my stuff of lost interest in serving a customer. Hold tight to your possessions if you stay!!!
After I complained about inconsistent and unfair pricing for services like luggage storage (went from 2.50 to 5 euro a day per bag to leave in the lobby over the course of a week!), they canceled my final day reservation without my permission forcing me to find a new place to stay in peak season. The rooms here are solid, but don't stay here if service matters to you. Incredibly rude staff.
Accueil très aimable, chambre fonctionnelle et propre, mais c'est cher pour un hostel.
Very friendly welcome, functional and clean room, but it's expensive for a hostel.
The hostel had potential, but overall, the experience fell short of expectations. The antique kitchen was a beautiful feature that could have added a lot of character, but unfortunately, they didn’t seem to take full advantage of it—no communal fridge and not much of a social vibe. The facilities were clean, and the host and staff were friendly and accommodating, but it was quite noisy with early morning construction starting at 7 a.m.
100% recomendable!!
Paulo at all times has been concerned that we will not lack anything, he has very good recommendations when it comes to organizing the day to day on the island. it is a good place to sleep if you are going to spend the whole day doing activities and visiting places. it is clean and the price includes breakfast. 100% recommended!!
Clean and good location. Not very social and there were no staff there most of the time
Mixed review for this hostel. Clean, safe, and comfortable, but owner Paulo's miscommunication caused a negative start. Limited staff availability during the day meant delayed services like towel retrieval. Room switch and staff-provided luggage transfer resulted in a missing bag, impacting plans. We were overcharged by 40 euros, but Paulo stopped responding, leaving the issue unresolved. Overall, a stay with ups and downs.
It was ok, the staff was nice, the breakfast was good, they gave all the information about the island to the guests. The only bad thing is that during the night there's no assistance. For exemple I had a problem in my room, and no one was available to help.

We only have good words for the best hostel we have been to. paulo is an excellent host, who takes care of you and advises you on what to do on the island, always with a smile. at the level of services, it covers everything very well: clean rooms and bathrooms, fast wifi... if we repeat destination, there is no doubt about where to stay!

Amazing hostel, highly recommended! super clean and comfy, the host was absolutely excellent, very responsive and kind and excited to show off the island. We would come back to stay 100%
We had an amazing stay at Passal Hostel! Paulo went above and beyond to treat everyone like family, calling us by our names and offering helpful information on the area. The hostel itself was clean, safe, and cozy!

Super nice host, def recommend a stay here!

Great hostel! Every clean, the breakfast was good and great attention from the host explaining everything we can do on the island. The rooms are spacious and the multiple bathrooms and showers that are always clean Thanks for the hospitality and the warmth! Chaima
Lovely stay. We had never been to a hostel where things were so well arranged for us, for example car rentals, bookings and tours. In addition we got a lot of information on what to do on the island and when to do them from Paulo the first day we got there, but he was also available every day of our stay to help us out with any problems we may have. Thank you Paulo and Passal Hostel for helping to make our stay in the Azores so incredible! :)
Paulo (the owner) is a great host. He arranged a good rental car for me. He also made a itinerary and he takes the time to explain it to each guest. It’s a clean, small and quiet hostel. For me personally the mattress was too hard and it caused me back pain and lack of sleep during my stay. Unfortunately a good night of sleep is the most important part of staying in a accommodation. If you don’t mind a harder mattress and like a quiet hostel, I definitely recommend this place.
Este lugar es ideal, súper limpio, cómodo, con un buen desayuno y Paulo siempre está muy pendiente de todo lo que puedas necesitar y te hace las recomendaciones y guía de lugar a visitar. ¡Muy recomendado este hostal!
This place is ideal, super clean, comfortable, with a good breakfast and Paulo is always very attentive to everything you may need and makes recommendations and guide you to places to visit. ¡Highly recommend this hostel!
Very nice hostel! Very quite and people don’t really come together in this hostel but the location was perfect and everything was super clean and perfectly organised
Very good Hostel. Superb Owner and very professional and helpful. I truly suggest it.
Paulo was so amazing. He came up with a guide that kept my friend and I out and about for 12+ hours a day for our 4 days there. He definitely made our trip. I really like that there is a female- only bathroom and that there are curtains on all of the beds. Its not the most social place, but that was fine for me as I had a friend with me to explore
Great stay in Ponta Delgada :) Paulo (the owner) made our trip so much better by always being so attentive and giving us great recommendations! He even has a booklet with hikes/routes to do every day around the island :) would definitely come back again & recommend to anyone. Also super clean facilities & nice breakfast plus cute area to chill.
I had the best time! Paulo was wonderful. Helped us rent a car and gave us detailed itineraries of what to follow each day. Helped with transport to and from the airport. The place is very clean the bathrooms are beautiful. Very calm quiet hostel but the entire island is calm and quiet. I would absolutely return. I felt very safe as a solo female traveler
One of my favorite hostel experiences ever! Paulo was an amazing host and made me feel very welcome as soon as he picked me up from the airport. He also connected me with other guests so we could explore the island together. The hostel itself is fantastic! Clean and comfortable and only a short walk into town. I'd love to come back again sometime! I highly recommend this place to anyone staying in Ponta Delgada
