Smylies Accommodation

+ Very poor, I booked a king room but was only given a small room with 4 beds. When I argued with the reception, the receptionist hung up on me and was very rude. I was also charged $30 for late check in. I have reported the experience to Booking customer services and nothing was done for me. I have filed a complaint with NZ Commerce Commission.

- Extremely Rude Staff & Poor Service I called the property in advance to inform them of our late check-in due to a scheduled tour and to ask about the procedure. Instead of providing guidance, the staff rudely responded with "You can't stay" and "Look elsewhere." When I politely asked if there were any alternative options, they became increasingly hostile. This was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Despite extensive travel, I have never encountered a property that outright refuses late check-ins and mistreats customers. I do not recommend this place at all.

- Es war sehr laut, da es direkt an der Strasse liegt und es hatte einen starken muffigen Geruch.

+ Gute Lage, um schnellstmöglich in die Berge oder nach Christchurch zu gelangen. Sehr saubere Sanitäranlagen.

- Es war unheimlich hellhörig in dem Dorm, da der Raum direkt an der Straße gelegen ist. Man ist mit dem ersten vorbeifahrenden Laster förmlich aus dem Bett geschmissen worden. Zudem war es sehr kalt in dem Hostel. Es ist schon etwas in die Jahre gekommen. Die Betten sind sehr kurz, große Menschen werden ihre Probleme bekommen.

- The traffic as it’s right on the main highway, but if you have a hearing problem and you don’t worry about noise that’s fine however there is accommodation further back

- On tat morning when we were checking out, the owner called out loud informing tat if we don't checkout by 10am, the fire alarm will be triggered. It is a bit non considerate for our group who has elderly ppls.

+ This little hostel on the main road was a convenient stopover between the west coast and the Christchurch airport. It was quiet when we were there; I think it gets much busier during ski season. Our motel room didn't look like much when we first saw it (like someone's old and slightly shabby cabin). But it proved to be very clean and spacious, the kitchen was well-equipped, the linens were good, and everything worked well, including the funny little gas stove. I got the impression that the owners are doing the best they can, with professionalism and friendliness, running a place they can't afford to renovate.

- The bed and lounge chairs were saggier than I like, and there was an old cooking smell of onions in the room (though opening the windows helped). There were some dead lies on the windowsills, but everything else seemed very clean.

+ Comfy, clean and well situated after walking in Arthur's pass. It's the second time I've stayed and I'll be back next year!

+ Clean and tidy room. The facilities are complete and the decoration is exquisite. The host is nice and the public area is large.

+ Wir hatten 4 Übernachtungen gebucht und haben uns in dem gemieteten Cottage sehr wohl gefühlt. Man konnte sich aufgrund der naturnahen Umgebung sehr gut entspannen und die günstige Lage zum Arthurs Pass Village nutzen. Der Vermieter war sehr hilfsbereit, immer ansprechbar und freundlich. Das Cottage hatte alles, was man für einen Aufenthalt braucht, Betten und Badezimmer waren tiptop. Sehr zu empfehlen!
