Hummus Hostel Hikkaduwa

Paid for private room hoping to meet others in social areas. Maybe just bad timing but the place was dead. The room felt run down and not overly clean, for the price I paid I expected much much more. Staff were helpful and location is good

When I was there, the Hostel was quite empty. Also there was mold on the wall of my dorm. The staff was very nice and helpful.

The hostel was way to quiet during my stay and there wasn’t much going on, with no activities offered. It might be a better place during high season after Christmas. That said, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the rooms were pretty clean and comfortable. Overall a calm stay, just not very social at the moment.

Overall a good stay here, however we visited during low season so there was little atmosphere. Despite this, the staff were friendly/helpful and the room was clean. Location is good, very close to nice restaurants and the beach.

Rooms were clean, location was good. Common area nice however no activities organised and staff never available. AC in room also didn’t work the second night we stayed. Definitely wouldn’t stay here if looking for social aspect.

The rooms are really nice and the same with the volunteers but it seems a bit empty like the space and I got the feeling that the owner didn’t put pride into the hostel activities anymore

A nice hostel which has lots of unrealised potential. Beds were clean and comfortable, host was nice, location was great. Top bunk hard to get up as nothing to grab onto at the top. Bathrooms felt grimey and need a deep clean or refurb. Hostel is completely open all night including front door and room doors, and lockers don’t work well if at all. I had to carry my stuff with me everywhere which was annoying. Also found it strange used plates from restaurant were left out overnight.

Good place to stay! Not the most social place, and a bit expensive for what you get - the lockers below the beds didn’t lock properly, the WiFi barely works upstairs, etc. But had a nice stay.

Nice Hostel directly at the Beach. so have a big social place and it depends on the people you meet if its gonna feel Like a Party Hostel or more of a layed backed one :)

A social and well positioned hostel. Lots of space for relaxing and socialising, near a supermarket and the beach.

This was a wonderful hostel. The room was very clean and comfortable. Everywhere are places to chill, talk and play games. It's a very social hostel, but there are many options for relaxing as well. For example the yoga class twice a day. The staff were kind and helpful and can give you many suggestions about this area.

I stayed in private room and it was really nice. The hostel is in a good location, close to shops, popular bars/restaurants. I met a good group of people there, I wouldn’t say it was overly social but I think it was more there wasn’t a lot of people staying when I did. I would definitely recommend this hostel.

Me and my friend had the best time at this hostel. We stayed for 3 nights and the staff were so lovely, it was the perfect amount of social where there’s always someone to talk to and go out with if you want to but you can also have a quiet night in with a tea. Would definitely stay here again. It’s a 5 minute walk from the beach and amazing restaurants surrounding it

The staff was extremely nice and helpful, also I got too meet a lot of nice people in the hostel. The yoga classes are hard, but a must. And the hotel lends all kind fun things in order to never get bored.

It’s a bit expensive compared to the other hostels but it was really clean and social

Meilleure auberge du Sri Lanka ! Les locaux sont géniaux, l’espace commun est super pour rencontrer du monde et les deux cours de yoga gratuits par jour sont un vrai plus !!

I LOVED this hostel!! so many areas of the hostel to hang out and/or socialise! I also loved how there were tea facilities available throughout the hostel. The female staff member on reception was super helpful when it came to me booking my train to Colombo as well!

The owner and staff are great! Loved the yoga two times a day, I've never felt so flexible after staying here!

Loved our stay here. Amazing location right next to epic surf, swim and dive spots. Lovely rooms, very well equipped kitchen, yum selection of tea and coffee and everything super clean. Some awesome board games to play and plenty of chill space and comfy seats. Great to have snorkels available to use! Staff so friendly and welcoming, thanks y'all :)

One of the best places I have stayed in all of Asia! Right across the road from the waves, good atmosphere, clean, comfortable rooms and beds. Will definitely recommend to my friends travelling to Sri Lanka!

Amazing location, very clean bathrooms and fantastic staff. Went above and beyond to help me out, the lady at the reception even shared her breakfast with me when I was checking out. Cannot recommend enough

one of the loveliest hostels I’ve stayed in. The staff are so helpful and friendly. Free yoga every day is so good and the space is set up with plenty of games and can take a snorkel or volleyball to the beach which is cool. It’s laid back and can but quiet but it’s also so sociable which is perfect if you don’t want to party but wanna hang out

Amazing location, good for meeting people and yoga in the morning was a bonus :)
