Bed & Breakfast Suraj Inn

On arrival we were confronted that our room changed due to construction work and we lost our private bathroom without any compensation. Suraj's father was very kind and generous, so we stared trusting him and his son. Unfortunately Suraj operates a little tourism scam organization. DO NOT TAKE ANY TOUR FROM HIM. They are overpriced and sell you fake silk products. So staying here is OK but do not make the mistake of trusting them.

marker for hostel was incorrect. promised my old room back which was not delivered. stayed in a shared bath room where the fan didnt work. ended up leaving on Xmas day which was a nightmare.

I am left with mixed feelings about Suraj Inn. The owner has clearly invested a life time in building up his business. The younger generation does not have the same dedication. I had to wait a long time for hot water for washing to be delivered to my room. The single room did not have running hot watet. I would not recommend the travel service that is linked to the hotel. A train booking that should take 30min was not completed in a day and then there was a sudden increase in price.

Suraj est très attentionné et nous a organisé un super tour avec lui dans varanasi pour nous expliquer sa ville. L’auberge par contre n’est pas très propre. Il y a des souris dans les chambres et la Clim ne fonctionne pas toujours.

The hosts were lovely & really helpful when things went wrong (which they did). We had a mouse in our room & the shower broke (this wasn’t actually their fault). Read small print as no AC in the room even though it says AC on hostel description. Also, room was pretty dirty, lots of shelving space but there were stains all over everything & a big dead insect on one of the shelves. Bathroom was big & good shower to be fair but also, quite dirty with two bindis stuck on the wall & no bin.

As a female traveler I felt uncomfortable with the staff. Nothing happend it was just a bad vibe. They try to sell you a lot. The room has no windows which makes the room dark and the air pretty bad.

Right in the heart of everything but on a quiet side street which was great. People always coming and going with doors open and confused who guests and not . The bed was quite hard and no widow curtains made it always bright but overall a comfortable place for a few nights in the chaos of Varanasi! Nice central gardens and good hot showers too!

The b&b is colorful and pretty, located in a perfect position to visit the river and the city. Prabhu and his sons were very kind to us,they helped us whenever we needed something. Unfortunately, maybe because it was festival time in Varanasi, the b&b was so crowded and there were lots of families that made noise continously at different times of the day. Our suggestion for the hosts is to pay more attention to the chaos created by the guests. Anyway, we warmly recommend this place!

El hostal es bueno y con excelente ubicación! El personal es amable y prestos a ayudar. No le doy un 10 porque el cuarto tenía polvo aunque la cama y baño estaban limpios además q los últimos días nos bañamos en agua fría. Mejor rentar un privado con baño propio ahí si funciona el agua caliente. Volveré sin dudarlo!

Agréable homestay très bien situé entre Main Road et les ghats au coeur des ruelles. Nous sommes restées près d'une semaine et sommes contentes. Accueil chaleureux et sympathique. Possibilité d'un magnifique tour de bateau pour le levé de soleil sur le ganges, laundry service.

Located at very good place for visit to temple and local market.Host was very friendly like family.He was very welcoming and helpful.Guided for local sightseeing.Amenities and service can improve by regular cleaning and providing toiletries.I would recommend the place for budget stays at Varanasi.Had a very nice experience overall.

Great inn, host was very friendly and had no problem with me checking in early, rooftop was very nice overall a good place to stay in Varanasi.

The guest house is really nice and clean. The room was in very good condition. It's cool inside the house, while outside is very hot. The owner is very kind and gentle person. He take care of me and all my needs.I felt very welcomed,so highly reccomend the guest house!

The family that owns the hostel is wonderful. They were very accommodating and thoughtful. The location is great; it’s close to the Ganges, the major temples as well as shops & restaurants. The rooms were big, clean and had lots of shelving so I could finally unpack for a change. I would definitely stay there again!

Family guest house run very nice people who will take care of you for any aspect of the staying and the travel. Position also is very good, just in the heart of the old Varanasi’s district, 5 minutes far from Ganga side. Recommended!

Great location with just a 7-minute walk from the famous Dashashwamedh Ghat but you don't hear the trafic choas as it is located in a quiet alley. The beds are comfortable and the room is clean and cool. Also Suraj helped me with everything. When I asked where I could buy a train ticket, he arranged a train ticket, and when I asked where a barber was located, he walked me to it etc. His walking tour through Varanasi was also very informative as he knows everything since he grew up here!

I had one of my best experiences in this guest house. The staff became more than friends and made me feel like home. Prabhu did everything to made me comfortable. I would surely recommend anyone travelling to Varanasi, you would not leave this place until you leave the city. just a few minutes walk to the banks of ganga. They provides amazing facilities like morning boat rides, and pickup and drop service from airport , Overall it was pretty good!

Suraj and his staff were some of the most helpful people we met in India. We arrived late at night via the airport, and they arranged a taxi for us. One of the staff members met us at the taxi drop off point and walked us to the Inn so we didn't get lost (the taxi couldn't take us directly to the inn because of the small roads).
