Tombstone Motel, Lodge & Backpackers

It was ok, nobody was there to greet us and specifically explain that we had to change rooms over our two night stay - so the lady owner moved our things which was fine but was quite put out and made her feelings known which could all have been prevented had this been communicated to us at check in or ahead of time prior to arrival. The place is generally tired and needs a bit of investment - quite understandable after COVID.

It was alright for one night. The room was very spacious which was nice and the kitchen had all the essentials for what you need. It wasn't really social and had more of a motel than a hostel vibe.

Nice hostel, a bit far from the city center and the Interislander passenger terminal though… but the hosts were super nice and helpful when I had to extend for one night. And breakfast is great, the scones are amazing :) Beside this, the facilities are alright

Lovely place with lovely staff. I'm a private room we had no issues with cleanliness or security, felt very safe. Scone beakfast was a perk. Only concern was noise from the port which can keep you up if you're a light sleeper

After being in chain backpackers for a few weeks it was refreshing to spend some time in a more unique setting. The place has plenty of character and a nice view. It was deserted when I arrived, but it is off season. The coffin-shaped door is probably the most badass thing I've seen.

Location - right next to blue bridge ferry and about 15 min walk to town so not bad! Parking - very limited but you can park up the hill at the cemetery They make breakfast which is nice! I saw they had toast and cereal and some homemade muffin things that I tried that tasted good! it does the job for what it’s for if you are just taking a ferry to or from Wellington. decent amount of shower and bathrooms. Very old building. Beds squeak loud. Very few outlets in room but overall ok!

Lovely place with amazing freshly made scones in the morning! Only downside: nothing to lock your valuables in the room.

Great place to stay, was there for 3 nights. The staff are very friendly and make a real effort to keep the place clean. It’s a short walk from town. Can see why is this place gets booked up! (Although i imagine the kitchen will feel very busy in peak season)

Loved this one! Friendly people, good room with a good bed. Enjoyed the living room, it felt like being at home. Big clean kitchen. The jacuzzi was wonderfull and very very clean.

Really nice hostel, perfect for a couple of nights. Facilities include kitchen, laundry and even a hot tub which was brilliant. Really enjoyed my stay here

Super cute, and extremly nice people and very clean, they even have a pool table :)

Very quaint, clean and well maintained. I stayed at the 6 person bunk dorm room #7. Dorm was well aired out and comfortable (Xmas time). very well thought out placement of sinks, toilets and showers. Never had an issue needing to wait. Quite a large common space, can find own quiet area or else can find ppl to chat with. Well equipped kitchen. Lots of returning travellers which says something about a place. Delish Scones for breakfast was a beautiful touch. Def recommend.

Location great for bluebridge ferry. Only 10-15mins walk into the town. plenty of free parking at the hostel. Lots of lounges/facilities to relax in the common areas.

Very cozy hostel with a nice free brekky. Location is a bit off if you’re taking the interislander ferry, had to walk 10-15 min to get to their check in. Would stay again tho due to the comfyness

I really enjoyed my stay here. Everyone was so lovely, the atmospheric felt nice and welcoming. It was so brilliant to get supplied breakfast in the morning. There were so many facilities for guest use, it made for a really nice stay.
