Namastey Mumbai Backpackers

Worst place we stayed in India, and we were there for 4 weeks. We were put up in an attic room that looked nothing like the picture we booked. It was dark, cramped and boiling. A rat even cam up the stairs into the room and we had to scare it out. Absolutely disgusting. The social area was okay and the staff were friendly enough but the facility we stayed in was just not what was shown at all. Disappointed.

Rats, rats, rats. Rats everywhere around the building, in the room, and in the communal kitchen. Told the manager that there was a rat in the room. He shrugged and didn’t seem to care. When I pressed the issue, he opened the door, looked in and then walked out. The majority of the positive reviews are fake. This place is only stayed in by long term Mumbai workers. Great location and wonderful common area & breakfast. But I’d avoid the female dorm! It’s incredibly cramped and smells of damp. I also got bed bugs. Understand this isn’t the fault of the hostel but they didn’t reply to my email when I informed them. So I would be a little concerned that they’re not very proactive in dealing with it.

Wouldn’t stay longer than a night. Was quite dirty and the dorm in a corridor. The fan was so loud and shock the room. The communal area was ok and good if you want to meet other traveler’s.

Pretty average. Definitely a ‘trashy’ type hostel if that’s what you like.

Really good place, full of other backpackers, however, it is a bit pricey for what it is, and the room we got is not the same as the one in the pictures, they are slightly worse (which was a disappointment), besides that the place is great, with some activities going on, breakfast included, and you are close-by to some good restaurants and bars

In general I was not overly satisfied with my stay. The bathrooms in particular were poorly designed as the distance between the toilet and the shower heads resulted in toilet seats that were constantly wet. The air conditioning in the bedrooms was up to scratch but left a lot to be desired in the common areas. However the most disappointing aspect of this hostel is the staff. The check in area was rarely manned and staff were less helpful than I had experienced at similarly priced hostels

There were just pictures of the nice dorms. But we booked the 10 bed dorm and the rooms looked like basement rooms. Pretty sad that you just post pictures of your nice rooms because the people get bad surprises then. All in all it sadly was not worth the money. Staff team was nice tho.

Nice location, good if you want to meet people, very clean and good beds.

All the staff were welcoming and helpful! I was encouraged to join them for iftar, the evening breaking of their fast for Ramadan. Sharing food and conversation was a lovely way to start off my stay. The other travelers were also very friendly! Joining the late night hangouts in the outdoor common area is a must!

Great hostel with a lovely social area, perfect for chilling out. Staff were friendly and helpful

A Hostel that is like an Anchor to backpackers. Being able to come to a place with cozy bed, well-equipped bathrooms and friends, is a blessing for any kind of traveller. The point of backpacking might be to move on, but this hostel makes you want to stay!

Thoroughly recommend!! Cheap, clean, breakfast included what more do you want?!

Staff was lovely and so welcoming but the hostel is not very clean. Since the rooms are so small is a bit unconfortable to stay there other than to sleep. Common area is nice and is easy to make friends!

Great Hostel! It’s a super Nice Location to start exploring the City- Full of Nice Food Spots. People were super Nice and generally quite social. Would definitely recommed going there (:

Decent hostel. Location is convenient. Dorm beds are very basic and uncomfortable. No social vibe but maybe because it’s off season.

It's a great hostel, with great atmosphere and common areas for integration. Many people stay in the hostel long term and are super nice, sharing experiences and tips.

Namastey is awesome! The large dormitory upstairs was one of the nicest hostel dorms I've stayed in; great A/C, very clean (no "hostel smell"), lots of room, big lockers etc. The common area is a nice outdoor space where I met loads of awesome people. The location in Bandra is good for exploration.

THE BEST HOSTEL EVER🫶🏼 This hostel honestly felt like a home away from home. After a nightmare accommodation incident from a hotel not so far from Namaste, we came to this hostel and was instantly offered to their free breakfast. The staff are lovely and always smiling (especially the cleaner with the moustache, he was a dream!) Really cute hostel Nice hostel owner but bed bugs

Booked this hostel after all the great reviews but left feeling very disappointed. On arrival I expressed that I wanted a female only room, which was sold out that night as i understood. The owner said he would move me into the female room the next day. In the morning i packed my bags and ready to move rooms, I had left early to explore the city. When I came back in the afternoon, I was told that he had given the room away. Not good! There is also cameras in the cctv bedrooms and bathrooms 🤨

Pros - amazing location, very safe, free/included brekkie, laundry services and lovely staff. Cons - wifi not the best/cutting in and out, female dorm smelt a bit maybe from the aircon, very dark inside.
