YHA Wasdale Hall

We booked the hostel to get up early in the morning and climb Scafell Pike. We left Scotland after work and attempted to contact the hostel all day as we weren’t sure if we would make it before the 10pm check in with no avail. We got to the hostel about 10.30pm but there was no one available and we hadn’t been sent any instructions to gain entry prior to arriving. Long story short, we ended up having to sleep in the lounge area with sleeping bags. Not happy at all with this service.

Great stay in a great location !

This was a lovely hostel, in the perfect location for our hike up Scarfell Pike followed by a lazy afternoon on Wast Water, the hostel staff were amazing, super friendly, knowledgeable and seemed to genuinely enjoy their job. Our two children, loved the 'adventure' of shared facilities and were particular fans of the bunk beds. We would definitely stay there again. Thanks

Hands down it's up there in the hostel category! We checked in about 7:30 pm and were warmly hosted by the helpful Donna. We were encouraged to order a dinner before the kitchen had closed and the food was spot on. Decent bar open until 10pm with all the essentials. Rooms were comfortable and ideal - a sink in our room and plenty of communal showers. The lodge itself is just off a lake which makes it a beautiful view to enjoy. There's also a ping pong table in the basement and drying room!

What an utterly sensational stay ! The location is breath taking and the staff were so helpful and kind! A great place for a swim and a walk, close to lots of walks Probably would need a car for the most easy access but it was phenomenal and I can’t wait to return some day :)

Brilliant hostel, rooms were great and modern. Friendly, helpful staff and a great location if you’re looking to climb Scafell Pike, or just want a really quiet and beautiful location. However, if you’re reliant on WiFi and phone signal perhaps not the greatest location, but those things really weren’t needed! Would definitely stay here again.

Had a lovely stay at the YHA Wasdale. Staff were super helpful and friendly. The location is gorgeous and we loved having the sawmill farm house and cafe just up the road!

Wonderful place

Beautiful building and wonderful location. The hostel was organised and clean. The staff greeted me in a friendly manner. Only downside was the amount of families with children that had booked out the dorms and were using the kitchen facilities at once. This is perfect for lone travellers to stay, let’s keep it that way.

Wow! What can I say - I had such an amazing stay at this hostel! The staff are so friendly and kind, I immediately felt so welcome which is especially lovely when travelling alone. They were extremely accommodating and the place was kept absolutely spotless. The hostel also naturally seemed to create a great atmosphere amongst guests, with lots of communal areas, and the views from the hostel and the dining room are 10/10. As a member, I was firstly disappointed that I didn't get discount on the booking of 5. Staff very friendly and the rooms were clean. A little disappointed with the cost of breakfast stating unlimited - the hot breakfast consisted of 1 sausage, 1 rasher of bacon, a teaspoon of scrambled egg and a dessert spoon of beans, half a tomato and 2 hash browns. I don't class this as unlimited, The evening meal was excellent for most.

We had an absolutely superb hiking trip to Wasdale Hall. The location was phenomenal and the facilities were spotlessly clean and comfortable. Would not hesitate to recommend this place to anyone traveling to the Lakes.

I thought it was really good, I enjoyed my stay here it had one really good shower, fine food, nice staff especially the cook, and The area it was at was very beautiful. The lake was a nice place to swim, it was not to noisy or near traffic and there were things like shops within walking riding and driving distance. The hostel was not really obstructing near wildlife at all too, there is a woodpecker in the first big tree to the right of the bank. Bed sheets were not very comfy though…
