Islanet Hostel & Bar

+ Location was good for centre of town. A short walk to bus terminal or ferry terminal. Bed was comfortable, showers were hot. Internet was decent but not in the rooms. Large lockers. Nice old building, but could do with some renovation. It's looking well worn and uninviting on the outside.

- Staff took my change. The is tiny, and most of the pots and pans have no handles Breakfast was OK tea/coffee, 1 scrambled egg, 3 slices of stale bread. Jam and orange cordial. Not allowed to enter early and leave luggage before check-in. Same at check-out,11:30 am and you're escorted out. The kitchen is only available from 3pm. There is no option to make your own tea/coffee. The host was rude, and she complained I wasn't gone by 12 pm. Don't leave food in the fridge as you may not be able to get it back before you leave. No common area.

Lejos de ofrecer un momento de convivencia, este establecimiento parece tener una única preocupación: el dinero. El ambiente general y el servicio son sencillamente inaceptables. ​🚨 Una bienvenida digna de una cárcel ​El ambiente es pesado y francamente desagradable. Todo está cerrado con llave, y da la impresión de que el personal, desinteresado y antipático, vigila orgullosamente su prisión. La empatía es claramente una palabra prohibida en este lugar. ​🛏️ Habitaciones y sanitarios indignos ​Habitaciones Minúsculas: Las habitaciones son tan pequeñas que uno se siente literalmente "detrás de las rejas" con un espacio vital mínimo. ​Baño Obsoleto: El baño es de otra época, lo que hace que ducharse sea difícil. Las duchas escocesas (alternancia de agua caliente/fría) son un recordatorio constante de que el agua es cara, a expensas de la comodidad del cliente. ​🚫 Servicios inaccesibles ​La cocina, un espacio esencial en una casa de huéspedes, resulta inútil debido a horarios drásticos: es inaccesible de 20:00 a 8:00. ​En resumen, si busca el más mínimo confort, convivencia o un servicio agradable, siga de largo. ​¿Qué le gustaría hacer a continuación? ¿Le gustaría que acortara o modificara algún punto de esta reseña antes de publicarla?

- Very rude woman, she wasn’t warm at all. She wrote me a message which was way to late about checking in. I arrived later and she wouldn’t let me in. I was without a room and with a bill for the hostel

- No llegue a quedarme la noche que tenía que quedarme, porque después de un viaje tan largo que hice De Santiago a Puerto Montt en bus, quería utilizar el baño para cambiarme y salir. Y la señora que me atendió no me dejó, fue muy prepotente y grosera, diciendo que no podía sacar a la gente que estaba en el baño, pero yo en ningún momento le pedí eso, obviamente era utilizar el baño cuando estuviera desocupado. Llevo viajando muchos años como mochilera por todo el mundo, Asia, África, Oceanía, Europa, América central, América del norte y por supuesto Latinoamérica, porque soy de Bolivia. Y es la primera vez que un hostal no me dejo utilizar el baño, solo dejar mis cosas y marcharme. Está en su derecho por su puesto, ya que seguramente era la dueña, pero no hubo empatía y comprensión por su parte y la forma de tratarme no fue lo correcto. No lo recomiendo. Cada uno tiene su opinión y su lado de la historia pero yo comparto la mía, por si alguien le pasa igual.

- I found a bed bug in my bed, and I told the owner, and she did not believe me. When I said i would like to leave the hostel and asked for a reimbursement, she accused me of lying to get my money back and was very rude. I did not end up staying the night or getting my reimbursement.

+ Nada, no nos atendieron y nos tuvimos que ir a hospedar en otro lado.

+ Não cheguei nem a entrar no hostel

- A funcionária do hostel não me permitiu fazer o check in antecipado ou guardar minha mala. Okay. É uma política do hostel. Só que quando eu me aproximei do hostel havia uma pequena obra na rua e com esgoto minando ma rua. Pedi a funcionária que permitisse eu deixar minha mala lá, já que eu tive que passar por cima de agua podre e via se claramente, que o lugar estava vazio. Era a regra, mas não custava nada, diante daquela situação. Nao implorei e procurei outro lugar pra ficar. Nao entendo como esse hostel pode ser tão bem avaliado. Aliás, fico em hostel, no mundo inteiro e nunca passei por algo semelhante. Somente, fujam desse hostel.

+ Sadly, bed-bugs ruined my stay here. This would otherwise be a decent place for 1 night; the dorm room is small, but otherwise comfortable, the bathrooms are clean, and a small breakfast is included. However, when I reported the bites, and showed the bugs to the manager, she became angry, insisted that there were no bedbugs at the hostel, and told me if I didn't like it I could go someplace else. So I did. For the same price there are much, much better hostels just 20 min away in Puerto Varas- and the town is much safer , too.

- The dorm room has a bedbug infestation. The on-site manager refuses to acknowledge the problem, even after being shown the live bugs, and gets mad at guests who report this problem. Not acceptable. In addition there is no common area to visit with other guests, and there is no option to leave a backpack with reception before or after the check-in/check-out times. Puerto Montt is not safe to walk after dark, so it is much better to stay in Puerto Varas just 20-min/ $1200 pesos bus ride away.

- The host lady was really impolite!

+ The hostess Elli is super. She is lovely, pleasant, helpful and she solves problems. Every morning she prepares fresh breakfast for every gast.

- I don't know how this accommodation got 7.8, but unfortunately there is bad smell there due to humidity and unfortunately this humidity can make certain individuals sick (at least I got sick after departure) so I don't recommend it unless you don't have another choice.

- The hostess was not so nice, she had an unhappy face. From the moment I entered the hostel I noticed that in every corner there was a page with rules and it already annoyed me because there is no problem having a few rules but the fact that in every corner you look at there are rules lowers the atmosphere and gives the feeling of a prison. The room only had 4 beds but it was very crowded with a bad smell. There was no wifi in the room I had to sit in the living room to work on things

- 在入住时间前你不能进入旅馆的公共区域，我被要求站在门外等待。退房后也无法寄存行李。木质的地板一旦走路便嘎吱嘎吱响。

+ The lady working there was so friendly and helpful. The breakfast included was also great and saved a lot of time and money. The hostel is cheap compared to others in the area and the dorm was spacious

- The kitchen is small so only one person can cook at any one time. The bathrooms could be cleaner but I think the staff are doing their best in an old building

- Son muy estrictos con el horario de check in y de apagar las luces, incluso los fines de semana. Es difícil viajar por turismo.

- Breakfast is not worth it.very little and really low quality. You can't ask for a little more if you are left with hunger, if you do you would get a big dressing down from the manager. I just to look at the food with a sad disappointed face and she went on an on in front of the other customers to tell me that "i should be happy that they serve breakfast at all for the price" " it's a breakfast it's not for getting fat". The manager's behaviour is generally friendly if you are not to point out anything that is slightly wrong there, otherwise she won't let you in peace. No possibility to leave your luggage before or after check -in. I was on the upper bed on a bunk bed, the ceiling is so low I couldn't sit straight without banging my head The dorm room smells a bit mouldy
