There was a dead bug and a coat of dust on the bed. I had a feeling that the sheets are not changed after every guest since most people only stay for 1 night only. The room, and bathroom were clean and the balcony was very nice but I spent the whole night questioning if there are bed bugs. Also not a very social place. Survivable for one night

Painting Family Hostel is a basic place in Khao Sok Village with a strong location near the main road and the national park entrance. The rooms are often spacious, with balconies and sometimes mountain or town views, and the air conditioning is generally effective. The setup is simple rather than polished. The staff are a major plus: they are helpful with check-in, baggage, taxis, transfers, and park trips, and the hostel can arrange tours and overnight lake or cave outings. Breakfast and the restaurant get good marks, and some rooms have coffee, water, lockers, and enough space for a short stay. It is quieter than a party hostel, so it works better as a stopover or a base for excursions than as a social hangout. A few rooms feel more worn than others, and the bathrooms can be messy or awkward, with wet floors, leaks, smells, or very small shower areas in some rooms.
