Beautiful hostel at first glance. It's only half an hour from Antigua. Don't expect to be able to close one eye here. The pauw, haan, the traffic next to your bed and then the rooms that are made of bamboo and connect next to your neighbor's. And when someone goes to the toilet/shower the affuiger goes so hard that you hear a deeper one higher too. This really deserves zero stars!!!
I booked a private hotel room but was shown to a shared dorm with bamboo-partitioned beds in a fully open, see-through space shared with multiple guests. This is blatant false advertising. It was incredibly noisy (the open roof lets in constant road noise, plus many guests and screeching birds all night). I barely slept. Reception refused a refund and was rude and unhelpful. Only Miguel was professional. Conclusion: an overpriced, dishonest, noisy dorm far from the city. Stay in Antigua instead!
I had such an amazing time at the property!!! I’m a remote worker and it was soooo nice to get away from the hustle and bustle of all of the places in the middle of town an “lock in” to the sounds of birds and peacocks. Breakfast was great with an amazing salsa and fresh fruit daily, and washing up with HOT water after eating was always a treat. Bathrooms and showers were very clean and so was the rest of the Casa!
This ended up being a last minute perfect place for me to stay in Santa Ana, only a 20 minute walk max from the popular parts of Antigua. It’s a safe neighborhood with a cafe and a few other shops. Laundry on the spot for a cost, breakfast at a price, and good bathroom. As with every other location I’ve visited in Guatemala however, the showers were not necessarily heated.
