Stayed at Zephyr Lodge and left very disappointed. The tab system felt untrustworthy —others were charged for things they didn’t order. Staff were rude and unprofessional, even blaming my friend for their own order mistake and trying to get him to pay extra. Room had bed bugs. Food was poor and overpriced. Also, they charge for return shuttle (100Q on card if no cash). Only positive was the Semuc tour, but bring your own food. There are far better options closer to Semuc.

They have only great facilities and food (for me) because Manu people do get food poisoning, because the rest is horrible . The environment/ vibe is so heavy for all the drinking and (other staff 🙃) that people consume that they are only happy at night in the party because the next day is all embarrassment and looking down people , zero vibe only people that use this hotel for their facilities to fulfill their addictions . Worst hostel I’ve ever stayed at. It’s very shabby. Wifi only works in the common area. Staff is rude, unfriendly and never willing to help, they even lied about the temperature options on the AC. Food is okay, but something goes wrong with the order every time. The owner’s dogs are unpredictable, walk into the pool (which is very unhygienic) and broke someone’s sunglasses (and owner didn’t care). Hostel is very money focussed. Definitely not worth the price tag!

Every aspect of your stay is a calculated move to manipulate you into spending more & more money. Your passport is immediately confiscated & the “tab-system” disconnects you from the amount of money you are spending. You will be stunned at your final bill. You are discouraged from leaving the property to make any purchases with the local community. Please don’t go here! you’re not allowed to take outside food and drinks. But the food here is disgusting!!! I got diarrhoea either from the food or from the swimming pool. The pool smells like pee and is not clean at all. They offer “filtered tap water” but it’s from a garden hose. The rooms are filled with cockroaches and other bugs. Lady at reception almost hostile, many people overcharged and forced to buy bad food there

- bathroom in private room was dirty. Toilet seat very worn down - only cold water in shower. Asked reception to fix it, which they did but then only options were boiling hot or cold, nothing in between - loud water pump randomly turned on every 30min. Couldn't sleep. - shuttle service was unreliable. Started 45 min. late, then had to switch bus after 1h of drive. New bus had no AC and drove 9h unstead of 6h. - hostel asks for 10% surcharge on credit card payments, including for the room

If you value your health and safety at all, do not stay here. If you do stay here, do everything in your power to avoid eating here. gutes Abgebot, angenehme Atmosphäre

Lives up to the hype. It was very social but not in a crazy party way, you could also be chill. It has beautiful views and the day tour to Semuc Champney was so fun with our guide La Bomba. The staff are really helpful and the volunteers are very fun. I do recommend getting the deluxe en-suite room with AC or you will be very hot and have quite a walk to the bathrooms which are quite exposed so have bugs etc.

Overall we had a great stay! Staff were so friendly, food was good, tours were reasonably priced and very social. Make sure you double check which room you book depending on your needs (air-con, curtains, ect.) Would recommend!

Best hostel I’ve stayed at so far in Central America!! Food at the hostel is good and portions are huge which meant we only needed a breakfast and a dinner so very cost effective. Staff are so friendly and the atmosphere overall is amazing! Thought it would be a pain to not have any supermarkets etc nearby but honestly you don’t need to leave this hostel once you arrive (bar day activities). Rooms are clean and there’s a huge communal area with gorgeous views. Can’t recommend this place ...

Lovely stay. Atmosphere, tours, room, pool were great. It is a party hostel but the rooms are a short walk away so not too loud. Only thing I would improve, the private room didn’t have curtains so we got blasted by the sun every morning. Not a big deal.

Had such a good stay at Zephyr Lodge! We had two private rooms - both were really clean. One was quite far from the bar so nice and quiet however our second one was very loud (not a huge issue for us as we were in the bar socialising till quite late) but worth noting if you want to chill. I LOVED the vibes of the hotel. I didn’t think the food was very good though but not a huge issue as we only stayed for a few days.

Amazing hostel. Great vibe, lovely staff and volunteers. Would definitely return to Semuc champey just for this hostel

Loved this place so much! The only downside (which is pretty unavoidable) is that the rooms are very hot at night even with two fans but I think this is likely the case everywhere.

Beautiful place with a beautiful view

Beautiful property but the food situation was bad. Made myself and multiple other guests sick. One morning my breakfast sandwich was FULL of little ants as well. Frustrating since you’re not even allowed to bring in your own food

I loved this hostel so much! It’s absolutely beautiful. The dorms and shared bathrooms are very clean. The staff and volunteers are so helpful and friendly and the tours are amazing. Highly recommend if you’re coming to Lanquin.

Probably the nicest hostel I have been to. Nice pool and jacuzzi and good food and drinks. The rooms are really nice too and the atmosphere is good. Maybe only annoying thing was that the washing machine was broken and there was nowhere to do it nearby but other than that it was a great stay.

L’endroit est tout simplement magnifique. Le dortoir est grand et la vue sur les montagnes de mon lit était incroyable. Le dortoir est bien aménagé, les douches sont propres et grande. L’espace piscine est magnifique également et la nourriture est bonne.

It's marketed as a party hostel although this wasn't my experience (not a problem for me). Overall was just a nice low-key vibe. We did the music quiz one night which was loads of fun. Semuc Champey excursion booked through the hostel was great. Very spacious for a 12 bed dorm, I was lucky enough to get the pod at the end with amazing views. There's not a lot else to do in Lanquin so you kind of are stuck in the hostel for the most part, but I enjoyed my time there.

Lovely stay in the jungle. The stand out is the infinity pool. Wasn’t a very social vibe when I stayed here but I was more than happy to just chill with my kindle in a hammock. Clean and the most spacious dorms I’ve stayed in. The scenery is unmatched.

Das Hostel ist an sich gut gelegen, da man zu den Sehenswürdigkeiten schnell kommt aber zu allen Orten wird man immer gefahren und muss man auch gefahren werden, da es fußläufig zu weit ist. Das Zimmer war ok, wirklich nichts besonderes und auch schon ein bisschen in die Jahre gekommen, insbesondere das Badezimmer. Der Pool ist aber wirklich sehr schön zum erholen und auf die Natur schauen, dort ist auch eine Bar mit eingebaut, um sich gleich Drinks zu holen.

Brilliant hostel, great fun and great vibes!

This place is pretty epic! Certainly lives up to its reputation in my eyes. The rooms are comfortable, the food at the restaurant is great. the bar has happy hours and the staff are super friendly. The hostel also has events on pretty much every night to keep people entertained and having fun. It's a SUPER social place and the views over the valley and from the infinity pool are INCREDIBLE. Not really any complaints at all. Would be nice to have a kitchen but thats the nature of these hostels.
