There were bed bugs in my bed!

Booked through Hostel World who were lovely and responsive to our request for a refund when we discovered several reviews claiming there had been instances of bed bugs and stolen property on site. However, Ant Hostel was dishonest, claiming they could not refund the entire amount because it was Hostel World's responsibility. After several emails back and forth, they changed their story and admitted they were not going to refund the first night. On the one hand, I can understand and respect that, but honesty goes a long way. On the other hand, if you are traveling with a young child as we are, and safety and health are at risk, I would expect a business to refund the full amount (regardless of booking type). Ant Hostel's unwillingness to cooperate and dishonesty brings to question the validity of the original reviews. I would NOT recommend this place based on the recent reviews of bed bugs (ew) and stolen property, the unprofessional nature of their customer service staff who did not indicate they would be charging the first night regardless of cancelation, and the unprofessional tone of their email correspondence with me. This should improve!

We got a place in this Hostel for 5 days...everything seems very cosy, New, and the stuff are very kind and in general hostel is clean! BUT...the beds have **** BED BUGS**** ..we were staying in the Room C and there was lots of BED BUGS which bit us during our stay. Now after i came back from Barcelona to my hometown, i found nit of the BED BUGS on my clothes..!! It was absolutely a terrible experience for me because of that. The breakfast is very Normal! By the way, The hostel located in a really good part of the city!
