+ Relatively central

- The room was extremely cold with no heating, I was a woman travelling alone and was told the door locked from the outside only and in fact when I tried it didn’t lock at all. Despite no heating in winter there were no extra blankets provided. I booked the room to have a power nap and do some work while on a business trip and it was so noisy it was impossible to sleep. Not only noise from patrons and music but a very prolonged and loud drilling type sound- either building works or pipes

+ Couldn’t make the trip to Sydney after a close friend friend passed away mid week explain this to the so called manager of the hotel they charged me $200 anyway.

+ DO NOT STAY HERE Terrible accommodation and even worse customer service

- DO NOT STAY HERE This is the worst experience that we have ever had when using Booking.com. We received a booking confirmation stating that the reception would be open until midnight. We arrived at 23:00 after a long haul flight to find the property completely locked. We were wrecked tired and this is the last thing you would want to happen. We spent 30 minutes on a dark street attempting to phone a number on the door. Eventually, after multiple attempts, our phone call was answered, and we were informed that the manager was away for the night and hadn't put any arrangements in place for us. We were instructed by phone to open a lockbox and were guided by phone to a room. To our horror, when we opened the room, the room was filthy, there were open beer cans on the bedside lockers, and the beds hadn't been made, see attached images. We had booked a double room and we were presented with two single beds and a completely different room to the room we had booked. We were told to wait in the kitchen while 'the manager tried to sort out the issue.' During this time, we decided that we would book somewhere else to stay. This whole ordeal went on for almost an hour. As we attempted to leave, we met a member of staff who had already gone home. We were told that because we had made the booking sometime in advance, they presumed 'we wouldn't show up.'' We were never contacted to check if this was the case, so it was an outrageous assumption to make. The manager phoned us back later that night, apologised profusely, and informed us we would be entitled to a full refund. She even went in to explain how to get the refund. We have spent three weeks trying to contact her and have been completely ignored, through calls, messages, Booking.com messages, emails, call backs etc which is extremely frustrating as all we are trying to do is to get the refund which we were told we would get. We didn't even stay there.

+ Location good for Darling Harbour area. Staff were friendly and helpful

- Given we booked a year in advance for New Year and then were told the price almost trebled 1 week before we arrived and so had no option but to stay there, we will be requesting compensation. The initial price would have been ok for a very small room above a pub with no aircon, nowhere to put clothes except a few hangers on a small rail, poorly fitting windows so very noisy from the street and very shaby mismatched curtains.

+ The accommodation is in a nice neighbourhood, within walking distance to the city.

- Calling it a hotel is a stretch - it's a glorified hostel at best. It's basically a few rooms above a friendly neighbourhood bar that the owners are renting out for extra money but with not a lot to offer. The very young, underpaid staff working in the bar downstairs double up as check-in receptionists, and they seem pretty clueless about what's happening - I don't blame them, it just seems like the management is very 'laidback', don't care very much, and is expecting things to work fine without any oversight. We had booked a shared room with two single beds - when we arrived it was clear that the sheets on one of them had not been changed, and there was a visible mix of human and dog hair on the pillow. The cover on the chair in the room was flaking and not usable. The two shared bathrooms are fine, but as these places go it really depends on if the other guests are conscientious about cleanliness. There is definitely noise from the pub downstairs, but it does not go on too late. The shared kitchen space is tiny and has a small bar fridge - good for making tea and microwaving but that is it. I'm not convinced the free drink on entry and discount on food in the place makes up for these issues.

+ The Location was great and the Terrasse outside

- The English waitress was kind of bipolar. Friendly one day and grumpy the next. We paid extra for 2 deluxe rooms. However room 4 was the only room which hadn’t been renovated. Old and uncomfortable. The outside fan kept us awake all night, The outside bit where we could enjoy a nice beer after a day walking was closing at 9. It s a shame because this place has a lot of potential.

- Geen lift , gedeelde douche en toilet, en geen airco waardoor de kamer erg warm bleef , Ik had meer verwacht voor de ruim 500 euro die ik moest betalen

+ 位置不错，离地铁站很近

- 1.一进这栋楼就有股很臭的味道袭来，像是那种饭菜馊了的味道 2.床单被罩盖在身上发痒，最后直接放弃盖被子，穿衣服睡觉 3.外挂空调一晚上都在响，根本睡不着觉 4.设施已经很旧了，走在地板上会咯吱咯吱地响 5.共享卫生间和浴室都已经很旧很旧，风格估计停留在了20年前？ 6.9点钟回去，门口站了一个酒气冲天的girl在和服务员聊天，很吵很让人不安 7.谁都可以往二楼的客房走，security措施可以说完全就是没有。。。 我设想过一千种青旅的可能，但是我没想到是这样的😂😂，当时是因为觉得跨年夜的300刀一晚已经很便宜，而且评分还可以马上订了，事实就是如果迫不得已还是谨慎订，宁可住得离市中心远一点也别定！

+ I loved how this hotel seemed to transport me back to England! I felt like I was in an English pub. Quaint, timber floors, typical hotel. Staff were lovely & accommodating, attending to a minor oversight very quickly, the complimentary drinks, the food was delicious, the vibe in the pub was friendly, the location was spot on. The room and beds were comfortable, windows were able to be opened to take advantage of cool night air, bathrooms clean, kitchenette clean, tidy and accessible. I particularly loved seeing dogs at random places like the top of the stairs!

- Only thing would be to improve fan speed but we had a ceiling fan and oscillating wall fan and had both on because I prefer to sleep cold. (Its May)

+ Uniqueness and the history

- Wifi very slow I couldn’t make my check in in time

+ Loved the heritage feel. The staff were helpful, welcoming and informative.

- Shared Bathrooms however were laking supplies including no toilet paper so I believe a back up of these to be made available when needed or be prepared and being your own with you. Bed was very low and making it hard to get in and out of it. Not suited for taller people. Not suitable for anyone who struggles using stairs and no lift available.

+ Klimatyczny budynek. Fajny bar na dole i drink powitalny. Cisza a rankiem świergot ptaków. Blisko fajne śniadania. Deska do prasowania z żelazkiem, herbaty. :)

- No łazienka wspólna co czasem zmusza do poczekania. Insekt - prusak w barze ale to pewnie kwestia całego budynku

+ The staff were super friendly and helpful. The building is old and gives a very cool vibe. They also provided complimentary drink in the bar, we had apple cider and lemon lime bitter and a great night before going to bed. The room is comfy and I had a good sleep. With my aim to go to Sydney Fish Market the following day, the location is good.

- - The toilet, albeit looking tidy, has cockroaches. When we were there, there were only 2 families so the shared bathroom is fine but I can imagine it being too crowded if there were more people. - The room is cold at night and there is no heating. I think it would definitely be tough in the winter.
