San Martin Hostal

The location was great, and the room had a nice view. The night-shift receptionist was also a sweetheart—very kind and helpful. Unfortunately, my stay in Room 209 was very uncomfortable. The air conditioning was not working during the hot August weather in Madrid. When I booked the hotel, I specifically checked to make sure the room had air conditioning. Although the hotel provided fans and told me that maintenance would come to fix the AC, no one ever came during my entire 3-night, 4-day stay. Sleeping in the room without AC in that heat was extremely uncomfortable. To make matters worse, the next day I noticed what appeared to be bed bug bites on my body. I immediately informed the hotel, but I was told that all the other rooms were fully booked, so nothing could be done. I had no choice but to try to sleep in the same room, worried about getting more bites, while also dealing with the heat and no working AC. The location, view, and night-shift receptionist were definitely positives, but unfortunately, the AC problem and suspected bed bugs made my stay very unpleasant and stressful.

Great location. I stayed for two nights in this hostal. After the first night I noticed I had a strange rash on my hands and after the second night I realized that that places were swollen and bite marks appeared. Since I had problems with bed bugs few years ago, I recognised the sings. We found some bugs under the pillow. Since all reviews praised this place for its cleanliness, we were surprised. Generally, place is great, but this expirience ruined what could have been a great stay.

Excelente ubicacion y buen trato Media cuadra de Gran Via y a poco de Preciados. Todo parecia correcto hasta que me desperté con una gran picazon a las 4 am. Habia chinches en la cama! Se oyen los ronquidos y conversaciones de otros pasajeros. Deberian devolverme la mitad de la paga por los medicamentos que tuve que comprarme por la alergia que me dio. Tenia un viaje al dia siguiente que fue muy incomodo debido a la picazon. La decoracion con flores de plastico es deprimente. El baño minusculo y peligroso con bañadera.
