This hostel has mold! I had a 5 night reservation and only stayed one night because I woke up terribly sick from mold toxicity. When I spoke to the staff immediately after realizing all my symptoms were from mold toxicity, they denied my request for a refund. I left immediately and got different accommodations and healed after 48 hours in bed. The rooms smell musky. I do not recommend this hostel.
A dona do local Bárbara é extremamente grosseira, a localização é péssima, 30 minutos caminhando até o ponto de ônibus. Banheiro com cheiro ruim, demoram para limpar, cama faz muito barulho. Me trocam de quarto sem me comunicar, mexeram nas minhas coisas sem autorização. Pedem um valor de depósito que não vale para o local, ela reza para vc perder o recibo para não devolver o seu dinheiro. Não recomendo, não voltaria e tiraria da plataforma se fosse minha.
The owner of the bar Barbara is extremely rude, the location is terrible, 30 minutes walking to the bus stop. bathroom smells bad, it takes a long time to clean, bed is very noisy. I change rooms without communicating, I mess with my things without permission. we ask for a deposit that is not valid for the bar, she prays for you to lose the receipt so as not to return your money. I do not recommend, she would not turn around and would pull the platform if it were mine.
I saw a cockroach in the kitchen around 5 am before going on an activities. The room are not locked. The shower is super small and it’s clean. The personnel is nice ! I am surprise that this place has suce an high grade
A localização é muito boa, porém tudo é muito sujo. Acordei com uma barata subindo em mim, a casa fede a xixi de gato. Tem muito buralho da rua, café da manhã é apenas uma panqueca, se você nao gosta não tem outra opção.
The location is very good, but everything is very dirty. i woke up with a cockroach climbing on me, the house smells like cat pee. there is a lot of street noise, breakfast is just a pancake, if you don't like it you have no other option.
The staff was very friendly but when we saw our room I was in shock. It was horrific!! Dust everywhere (dust from months!!) and the bed was not clean at all. It smelled bad en I was about to cry. The next morning we woke up early and said that we no longer wanted to stay here. The staff was very friendly and we did get the money back from the second night. I think a lot of reviews are fake of this hostel! Please be aware of this.
Cannot reccommend this place at all. Facilities are basic, butr alright. BUT my Dorm was smelling REALLY BAD. Staff was very unprofessional and rude as well, did not want to let me check in bc they did not accept credit card payment although they claim in the description that they accept card payments. Stay away from this place!
Pro: nice people, nice outdoor area Con: i stayed for one night and some insect destroyed me, i don’t know if it was bedbugs but 100% came from the hostel, so I left earlier than I planned to
Das Hostel scheint von einem Chefarbeiter geführt zu werden, der seine Zickigkeit als persönliches Markenzeichen betrachtet. Statt den Gästen einen angenehmen Aufenthalt zu bieten, scheint es sein Hauptanliegen zu sein, seine Arbeit auf sie abzuwälzen. Vielleicht sollte er sich weniger darauf konzentrieren, seine schlechte Laune zu verbreiten, und stattdessen eine Schulung in Gastfreundschaft in Betracht ziehen.
The hostel seems to be run by a chef who considers his Zickiness as his personal trademark. instead of offering guests a pleasant stay, it seems his main concern is to shift his work to them. maybe he should focus less on spreading his bad mood, and instead consider a training in hospitality.
* WORST WIFI EVER* stayed here for 3 nights and let me tell you, you get 5 minutes of wifi and 30 minutes of disconnect. The staff did nothing about it. The facilities are very basic and the dorms have beds crammed beyond a healthy size. Stay at your own risk!

Schönes Hostel in guter Lage, leider nachts sehr laut wegen der großen Straße, aber sehr liebes Personal, Pancakes zum Frühstück und toller innenhof und super Dorms und saubere Bäder.
Schönes Hostel in gute Lage, unfortunately very noisy at night because of the big Straße, but very nice Personal, Pancakes for Breakfast and toller innenhof and super Dorms and clean Bathrooms.
Top emplacement dans le centre ville. L’hostel est très sécuritaire avec un code d’accès pour rentrer dans la résidence.

I stayed for 3 nights and it was the perfect place to start my journey. really helpfull and nice staff. I would very much recomend it

Stayed there for one night inbetween the airport and an other town. Staff was super helpful (special mention to the cat)! I forgot some stuff there and they kept it safe for me for when i’ll get back to the city. Location is good, near a Super99. The pool area was clean. The beds were comfortable, cleanliness of the rooms + bathroom were okay. I would stay there again if i ever come back to the city !
We really hoped to like this place but as soon as we arrived we noticed two cats who were never mentionned. The employee told us they do wander in the dorms so we would have to close the door to make sure they didnt come in. When we arrived in the dorm we noticed a strong humidity scent, some apparent mold on the ceiling and at least 3 insects. We left and did not sleep there.
The staff was very nice, social area and kitchen was good as well. My room sadly had black mold in the roof, and there was not enough lockers for everyone.
Don’t often leave reviews, nothing wrong with this property at all, will definitely be recommending the place
The corner where it is located is SUPER noisy all day. We could have enjoyed an afternoon by the pool, the temperature was perfect and it was well shaded, but it was just impossible because of all the honking! At least, IT STOPS AT NIGHT so you can SLEEP WELL! Staff is always ready to help, many places to sit, the included pancakes are alright. Kitchen has everything but is small of often crowded. Short Uber ride from everything, but takes 45-60+ min in public transit to Casco Viejo or the Canal
Very good hostel ! I loved the location, very safe and you have everything around to shop if you do the San blas adventure! The place is cool and sociable! however, I would not recommend breakfast, you just have premixed powder to do pancake and you do it yourself so you will not save time with included breakfast, don't add it if it is not included. Also the bathrooms are downstairs and there is only 3 for the whole hostel, as I am going often to toilet during the night, it is a bit annoying..
Overall we had a good stay here but the dorm room was incredibly smelly and also very small with no room for the stuff. Also only 2 bathrooms so we had to wait pretty often. Overall the place is fine and inexpensive but the bad smell in that room made it a bit uncomfortable.
The common areas are nice in the property, with a pool, a pool table and good sized kitchen. The rooms are cramped but they are okay for the price, and there isn’t much of a social atmosphere. My main issue was that I got sick here with a stomach bug, meaning I was up all night lying in the bathroom. I asked the next morning if I could extend check out just a few hours to give me a chance to sleep, and they didn’t care and told me I had to leave. Wish they could have been kinder about this...
Estuve agusto, Matías y los demás chicos de recepción súper simpáticos. La piscina muy limpia y rica. Quizá algo negativo el espacio para las mochilas en los dormitorios compartidos era inexistente prácticamente. Por lo demás bien para el precio

The room I was in had a really bad smell of mold. Not sure if it’s an issue throughout the property but it’s something the owner should look into. One woman checked out 4 days early because of how bad the mold was. I wouldn’t recommend. I believe their rating is off.
I enjoyed my stay at Casa Areka. Everyone was super nice and the staff was great. I only got to enjoy the free breakfast once, but did appreciate the pancakes. I did think paying in all cash was a bit odd (in this day and age), and when I left super early in the morning I saw several people sleeping on couches in the living room. It wasn't an issue, I just thought it was odd. All in all, it was a good place to stay.
