Auberge de Jeunesse HI Nice Les Camélias

Lead astray as our private bathroom had everything but a toilet. Not the end of the world for 1 night - 2 of my group of 6 complained about bed bugs. Since 4 of us were ok, I’d imagine they were from outside.

I was attacked by bed bugs staying here, i had bites all over me. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find them, although I could have looked harder using a card to swipe narrow crevices. There were little dots of blood on the bedding which is a sign of bed bugs, along with the many bites. The shower cubicle would flood, requiring you to use your foot to force the water down the drain. The one toilet per level meant it got dirty very quickly or was often occupied, plus it was outside your dorm. This hostel was expensive, i paid just over 50 euro per night, and for what? To get attacked by bed bugs, be boiling every night because of no air con, using stinky toilets that needs more frequent cleaning or an air freshener provided for people to use to save the next person from preferring to hold it in. If I aid half of what I did, i’d accept it for the cost. But I paid a lot of money for a completely basic hostel, like the bare minimum kinda hostel. Oh and the bed bugs. I do not recommend.

There were bed bugs in the bunk bed mattress. I had nearly a sleepless night. At 2 midnight, the reception person asked me to sleep in the lobby sofa cause there were no empty beds/rooms. Reception staff was very helpful and did what they can do best. I was told manager was off work these days.

The fact that the shower and sink are in the room. You have to listen to people brushing their teeth or taking a shower early or late. Hard bed. I have been bitten like mad, counted 45 bitesall over my legs and arms, thought at first mosquito bites but after seeing previous reviews I am now thinking bed bugs. Beware.

It was my first experience with bad bugs that I didn’t want to experience. Absolutely disappointed about that during my traveling. Spend 4 more nights in Nice after and there were no place with bed bugs anymore. So I assume that’s a main problem of this hostel. Not recommended.

As it was quite hot we had to leave the balcony door open all night and day and as a result there were mosquitoes in the room at night and in the shower, it was hard to sleep as it was stuffy in the room. I am also covered in bites that look more like bed bugs than mosquito bites…

Great atmosphere at this hostel but not the cleanest and you will get mosquito bites.. I don’t think they’re bed bugs like the other reviews say.. but overall nice place.
