Terrible experience at Bell House Hostel! Hygiene is extremely bad. I was bitten repeatedly by bed bugs on the bed. I have lots of itchy bite marks on my arms and legs. It is unacceptable for a hostel to have this pest problem. Cleanliness and pest prevention clearly are not taken seriously here. Please think twice before booking.

Nothing My whole body got bite by every insect and bed bugs that existed, owner did not even apologise, please don’t ever book a room in this place unless you want itch for week and spend money on medics because owner refuse to refund you and give you horror week, this place should not be consider a safe place to stay.

The location is good, the staff is nice, close to all the important sights, museums and other entertainment places. Bedbugs, they come out at night and bite. I've changed three rooms, and each one had this problem.

erg smerig en de hostel zit vol met bedwantsen. De eigenaar doet er niks aan. W ij kwamen met een groep van 25 personen, het probleem was bij hun bekend en ze hadden de boeking nooit mogen accepteren, volgens het personeel. Ook zij schaamden zich diep en hebben geprobeert de wantsen te bestrijden. Boekingen woden ook onder een andere naam geïncasseerd op de creditcard, dus de eigenaar besodemieterd de boel. BLIJF HIER WEG, ALLEEN ELLENDE!!!!!!!Voor de eigenaar, dit is nog niet voorbij!!!!

The staff were helpful when we told them there was no electricity in our room, they provided us with a power bank. We had bed bugs, no electricity, and a fire alarm was on and off going off at 7.30am for about an hour

De receptionist/barman was erg aardig en deed erg zijn best. Niet makkelijk gezien de omstandigheden van dit hostel. - BEDBUGS!! We werden wakker in een bed waarin de bedwantsen letterlijk om ons heen krioelden. Mijn vriendin zit onder de rode plekken. - Schimmel overal. In de badkamers maar ook in de slaapkamer zelf. - Geen raam in de slaapkamer. We sliepen op de bovenste verdieping en onze kamer leek wel een sauna. De receptionist kwam een mini ventilator brengen en dat hielp ons om te kunnen slapen, maar er was geen plek in de kamer om hem neer te zetten. Midden in de nacht viel die dus ook, hij zat geklemd tussen bed en muur, om daarna nooit meer goed gepositioneerd te kunnen worden.

The Hostel was filthy. There were bed bugs. The bathroom was filthy, I didn't have the courage to sit on the toilet. The blankets on the bed were full of undefined things and stains. Horrible. We were supposed to stay 4 nights, but after one we ran away. We asked for a refund due to the indecent conditions and they told us we should have requested it through Hostelworld. Bullshit, so I wrote an email to the Hostel to ask if I could get a refund, attaching the photos, but they never responded...

Who asked me for the money? It was Chris she told me to pay £20. I’ve already paid for the Booking.com but I don’t know what’s going on. I think it’s kind of rip off and second of all. The place is so bad. I’m sleeping in there, it’s not clean and there’s a bug in the bed so I don’t even know what’s going on in that place No

Room was dirty on arrival, later became unusable. 0 communication from staff throughout. We were split up into dorms but had paid for private room. No offers of restitution for the difference on price. Staff member eventually paid difference out of pocket while boss said to email. Reviews said poor email response and didn't want to risk it. Room tiny with little space to walk to bed. Bunkbeds squashed, barely any room. Also, BEDBUGS!!!

I was bitten by bed bugs a lot! I just think they could improve the cleaning! Otherwise, everything was fine! The staff is wonderful!

Overall the staff are quite nice but the cleanliness definitely needs an overhaul, the toilets are filthy and the place overall stinks and it doesn’t help that there was a bedbug on my bed the first time I checked in. Nonetheless had the room changed and it wasn’t infested this time just hoping my stuff wasn’t infested as well but we’ll find out. Not worth the risk.

Bed bugs, no soap, no windows. I’ll start by saying this was the 17th hostel my sister and I stayed in, so no strangers to the general uncleanliness/lifestyle of hostels. When we checked in, we were asked if we felt safe before we even saw our room or living spaces, and were jokingly told that another pair of american girls left the other day because they didn’t. 🚩 I woke up with bedbugs crawling on my legs,bed, and the walls. (Videos available if needs be). No soap in bathrooms. NO SOAP.

Quite the dive bar and hostel… at first I thought the staff were being deliberately awful, but then realised they’re just troubled people hanging by a thread of survival in London who genuinely don’t understand much about hospitality. Expect bed bugs, mice in the bathroom, dirt, damp, and an overall air of despondency and desperation. Culturally, though, it’s a fascinating experience… the perfect microcosm of London if you want to experience the social dynamics of working people. Be open minded.

Este es el PEOR lugar en el que me he hospedado. Estuve 2 noches y me fui por las condiciones realmente insalubres, mientras me bañaba me salió un ratón en la ducha y los administradores del hostal se rieron y dijeron que era su "huesped". No limpian nada, es un asco, otros huéspedes han reportado chinches, no tienen casilleros para todas las camas. En una pieza de 6 tenían 4 y uno era ocupado por una trabajdora. Pésimo, no debería estar en esta app no cumple ni los mínimos para funcionar.

Le réceptionniste était gentil et l'emplacement était correct! Établissement à fuir!!Invasion de Punaises de lit!!! Notre chambre était sale. Quand nous sommes arrivés nous avons vu de la poussière, des traces sur les murs et un coton tige usagé parterre. Au milieu de la nuit mon conjoint m' a réveillé parce qu'il venait d'écraser un insecte qui venait de le piquer. C'était une punaise de lit!!! Nous avons allumé la lumière,son corps était jonché de boutons et j'ai vu des bêtes sur les murs et le lit. Mes boutons sont apparus le lendemain. Nous en avons partout. Vu le nombre, il s'agit d'une vraie invasion. Nous avons quitté notre chambre à 3 h du matin pour nous réfugier au bar d'accueil le temps qu'il fasse suffisamment jour pour partir. Le personnel nous a laissé attendre là et nous a offert un café. Nous sommes allés prendre une douche dans la salle de bain pour vérifier que nous n'avions pas de bête sur nous, celle-ci était sale, sentait mauvais et nous avons vu une souris! Pour l'instant nous n'avons pas de nouvelles d'un remboursement!! Ni aucune compensation financière de la part de l'hotel. En plus, nous avons eu des frais supplémentaires pour nettoyer tous nos vêtements à 60° afin de ne pas propager l'invasion et nous acheter de la crème pour apaiser les démangeaisons.

Nothing, a disaster, it's nothing like those AI-generated images. It's a rat's nest full of alcoholics, drug addicts, and filth, plus the building was wrecked. There is no light in the reception area or the light is very poor, the bathrooms are inaccessible, dirty and disgusting. They have nowhere to leave your suitcases; in fact, you can't even take them up the tiny staircase they have.The manager, who's Polish, tells you to leave them at reception and then he'll take them. There are no beds.So it seems to me that it's a strategy "in case they get stolen". The noise; you can hear arguments from the reception area, music, and other noises. As soon as I arrived, one guy was putting another guy in a chokehold, both drunk, inside the reception area. The rooms are nothing like the pictures. You stretch your whole body from one side of the wall to the other, and you touch both walls. I'm 1.83cm tall.Inside that room, for example, there were two bunk beds, one 3 and one 3.The fire alarms aren't working. The hostel reeks of marijuana. There isn't a single place where I can sit down with the computer.As soon as I took my suitcase out, there were 4 drug addicts eyeing it up. I've been to cleaner, cheaper rat-infested places. I'm talking about the mythical and legendary Home London on Caledonian Road, which has been closed for six years now. I'd rather go there a thousand times than here. The fact that I say that is already quite an achievement. Not for girls, not even as a joke. And that's despite the fact that two women work at reception in the mornings. It should be not just illegal, but a crime against humanity to be there. Oh yes, forget about getting a single pound back. I'm going back to my country to change my passport; I don't trust the photocopy they made at all, and I dropped my Halifax Visa card there.I had it inside my passport, and when I looked, surprise, it was gone. The same goes for the card I used to make the booking. They have access to the card number and the CVV because when you make a booking, they have to collect the payment after you make it; this happens in all hostels. I was the manager of several backpacker hostels; I know the procedure inside and out. The price is normally 17 pounds a night, it cost me 11 that night. That hostel isn't worth 5 pounds a night, if you pay more you're an idiot. They should remove it from Booking.com The location: you're lucky if you don't get stabbed (at any time of day). Bedbugs: that's like Jurassic Park.

Los trabajadores eran amables Todo el resto, HORRIBLE. Hemos vuelto llenas de picaduras de chinches, avisamos y nos cambiaron de habitación pero la nueva que nos dieron también tenía chinches. La habitación era claustrofóbica para 6 personas, no podías ni caminar sin tropezarte dos personas mas. En cuanto a los baños, que horror!!! Sucios, pequeños, solo uno con espejo y con muy muy poca luz. Además entró un trabajador a la habitación con el código mientras estábamos cambiándonos, lo que nos hizo sentir muy inseguras, ya que había alguna en ropa interior. En fin, si estás leyendo esto antes de reservarlo. Vale la pena gastarse un poco más e ir a un sitio mejor.

My score says 2,6, yet I feel more this is a 2. Like it is not bad that there are cockroaches, bedbugs or lice, but when 2 avid travelers both agree this is the worst hostel they have ever stayed in it is bad. One of my friends didn't even want to check in and descided she prefered to stay at Cambridge and travel that entire distance every day. She thought it was way to grim. That was the word I was looking for when I said that if this hostel was a movie it would be Trainspotting.

Pleasee take housekeeping more seriously. There’s bed bug, the toilet and showers are disgusting. I dont feel safe at all for the whole 2 nights

Location was good. Right on the edge of the city Was itching all night. Maybe bed bugs but most probably dust mites. Rooms were cramped not cleaned properly and showers and toilets not clean.

I would not recommend staying at this hostel. The place was quite dirty and had bedbugs. Many of the people seem to live there long term and were weird/creepy. We actively avoided hanging out there during the day because we were so uncomfortable. Nothing felt clean or safe. As a woman i would never stay here again. I guess the staff was nice though.

Extremely disappointing and unsafe stay. The building smelled of mold, had water leaks, slippery stairs (I even fell), and a hole in the floor. The room was dirty (dust, chewing gum on walls, stained sheets), no hot water the first night, and poor insulation. Same door code for all rooms — someone entered ours by mistake. Bed bugs, insect bites, and very poor hygiene overall. Toilets and showers not working, kitchen unsanitary. Nothing like the photos shown online. Definitely not recommended.

Avoid at all costs! We booked a private room for two women. The lock was half broken, and one guy of the staff member was dismissive about it (if the latch didn’t close properly, it could easily be opened from the outside). Good location BED BUGS I got bit everywhere, I found one bug and killed it (it was full of blood). When I mentioned the problem, it seems like it wasn't a new issue but a reoccurring one so stay away !

Cheap and easy for a single night's stay. 24 hour staff were friendly and pub had a good atmosphere. Other residents were often selfish and smelly (sorry but someone from the ground floor left their shoes on the third floor where I slept because they smelled so bad). Don't even think about using the showers. Someone complained of bed bugs, but I think they were just trying to get a free night's stay coz they went right back to bed after complaining to the bar staff (who could do nothing as it was 3am and I didnt see the owner the entire time). I booked 2 nights because I had an early flight, but didn't even bother going to the dorm after night 1, so I just hung out in the pub.

I really didn't want to leave a review since I felt bad for this place. But being honest is a healthy problem for whoever goes there gets bedbugs and brings them somewhere else. The staff was so nice that I think they easily can get another place to work in. Filthy place, being low budget shouldn't be synonymous with dirtyness. Bedbugs. Bedbugs.Bedbugs.
