Country Retreat

- A beautiful countryside hotel, but unfortunately not child-friendly, even though we stayed in a family room. Children are expected to maintain an unnaturally quiet level (basically not speaking, which is very difficult for normal kids), otherwise they may disturb others (because the space is small). Ironically, the noise from grass-cutting along the rice fields was much louder than children, yet nobody minded that. If the goal is to create a child-free environment, why not follow the example of some quiet hotels in Indonesia that simply do not allow children, which would truly ensure extreme quietness? There is an unfriendly, unleashed dog at the property. It growled in a threatening way, and its body language made it feel like it could attack at any moment. The owner insisted it was friendly… but we could only keep as much distance as possible. Even the small wooden huts in the fields for relaxation have surveillance cameras, which may feel safe to some but also rather unsettling. The water heater barely produces hot water. If you stay there, here’s a tip: turn the water pressure down to the lowest setting to get a little warmth. In September, for some reason, the water was quite cold. We have stayed in many places, always trying to respect local culture and support the local economy, but here we did not experience the kind of wonderful stay described in earlier reviews. We don’t expect perfection,but unfortunately the experience was not very good. — which unfortunately was not the case. That’s why we left after just one night.

+ This was a beautiful, calm and peaceful place with pretty gardens and surrounding rice fields. There were lovely touches in the wonderfully clean rooms such as little bamboo leaf wrapped soaps and fresh flowers.

- We ate on site the first evening of our stay, but unfortunately it took almost two hours for our food to appear, and then we were very disappointed, for, even though the food was pleasant, there was an astonishingly small amount. We had to go to the village supermarket to get more food afterwards. Our three children felt unable to use the pool ( which is much smaller than the photos suggest) as there is a big sign saying no jumping or splashing, which, of course, is s vital part of pool fun for children. The sun beds were immobile lumps of wood and not conducive to relaxing as they were extremely uncomfortable. Whilst lovely, the Country Retreat is best suited to adults only, with very small appetites.

+ A small size resort located in the country side. Quite isolated and a good experience to feel the inner of Chiangmai surrounded by paddy fields. There is a small cafe that offers morning breakfast and also lunch and dinner. A small common pool that you can enjoy with family.

- I rate a comfortable accommodation one that offers good shower facilities and good bed. The bedsheet looks wore down and need to be replaced. The shower spray is not even with piercing jet stream of water. The resort needs refurbishment.

- Further away from city centre but if you wish to be close to the night markets better to stay there.

+ I loved the location, a great place to go to relax and I liked that you could get your meals there.

- I loved that they had a restaurant and the food was good but it took me awhile to figure out the system on how to order; I'm not sure I ever did.

+ Das Resort ist für ein par Tage sehr schön um zur Ruhe zu kommen. Man fühlt sich sofort wohl in der Natur. Die ganze Anlage ist darauf ausgerichtet gut entspannen zu können.

- Die Möglichkeiten in der Umgebung viel zu Unternehmen sind eingeschränkt. Am besten nur für ein par Tage zum entspannen dort bleiben, ansonsten könnte es vielleicht etwas langweilig werden.

+ Everything was perfect. It is a very peaceful resort in a tranquil location but with plenty of places to explore nearby. The hosts are a friendly and welcoming couple who would do anything to make our stay comfortable.

+ De ligging met uitzicht op de rijstvelden was voor ons een onvergetelijke ervaring! Als je van natuur en rust houdt is dit “the place to be. Pete is een goede gastheer. Maar een speciale vermelding is op zijn plaats voor zijn lieve vrouw Yin, die de sterren van de hemel kookt!

+ Le lieu est magnifique au milieu des rizières. Un dépaysement parfait. Le bungalow familial était parfait pour notre famille avec 2 enfants (chambre séparée). Le restaurant était très bon.

- Le manque de commerces à proximité et le fait de devoir payer en liquide les consommations et repas pris c'est place (paiement possible en CB mais avec 13% de frais). Le lit double un peu petit (140cm).

+ Die Gastgeber waren wunderbar hilfsbereit und zuvorkommend. Die Anlage ist individuell und schön in Reisfelder eingebettet.

+ Heerlijk verblijf bij super vriendelijke hosts!

+ De locatie en het heerlijke eten van Ying en haar team:) De massages van Ten en het mooie uitzicht.

- Het bed was aan de zachte kant maar dat is persoonlijk

+ Country Retreat is a piece of paradise. Ying, Pete and all the staff make the place even more special. This was our second time there and there will a third one for sure.

+ Een waanzinnige plek, na de drukte die wij in Bangkok en Chiang Mai hadden ervaren kwamen wij hier terecht oase van gastvrijheid en rust terecht. Pete en Ying zijn fantastische hosts, zeer vriendelijk, behulpzaam en toegankelijk. Ze doen er alles aan om je verblijf een succes maken. De locatie is gelegen tussen prachtige rijstvelden en natuur. De bungalow waarin we verbleven was groot en was voorzien van een zeer comfortabel bed. Er zijn talloze activiteiten in de omgeving, deze zijn door de hosts verzamelend in een handige Google lijst. Voor een zeer schappelijke prijs huur je hier een scooter, als je het ons vraagt de beste manier om de omgeving te verkennen. Pete is een echte natuurkenner, en kan je van alles vertellen over de natuur en dieren in de omgeving en op het resort, ikzelf vond dit bijzonder interessant.
