Honestly the worst hostel i ever stayed in. The value for the price is unbelievable bad. Toilets and showers were dirty, the bed hard as rocks and no proper locker was provided. Then, out of nowhere, they started to do some renovations in the room. Everywhere was dust and dirt. My bedsheets were not so clean as well. It was only 11 usd per night but still not worth the money! Would not recommend to stay here!
Wouldn’t even recommend this to my worst enemy, really rude staff and we booked beds in the same room but one had to sleep in another, staff didn’t care. It is literally a basement, freezing in the night. Ant infestation in the showers, nasty toilets. Rock hard beds. Stayed for one night and that if we had more we would have changed hostel. Nothing wrong with the people who stayed there but no social space to sit or anything.
Das Gute zuerst, der Mann an der Rezeption war sehr freundlich und die Lage des Hostels war sehr gut (direkt am Pier). Der Rest von Hostel war jedoch umso schlechter, wir hatten zwei Betten in einem Frauenzimmer gebucht, und dann waren Männer mit im Zimmer. Das Bad war nicht sauber, und der Geruch war schrecklich. Haare im Abfluss/ Waschbecken, und 2 von 3 Toilettentüren konnte man nicht abschließen. Es waren des öfteren Kakerlaken dort, die nicht weggemacht wurden. WLAN ging auch nicht.
The good thing first, the man at the reception was very friendly and the location of the hostel was very good (directly on the pier). the rest of the hostel was even worse, however, we had booked two beds in a women's room, and then there were men in the room. the bathroom was not clean, and the smell was terrible. hair in the drain/wastebasin, and 2 out of 3 toilet doors couldn't be locked. there were more cockroaches there that weren't taken away. neither did the WLAN.
We arrived at 6pm and nobody was there, no reception. Nobody answered the phone either. Place felt abandoned. So we went someplace else
I stayed here because I could find space anywhere else, the dorm is okay but the hostel is basically one big room and the showers and toilets. “Common area” is a table with four chairs next to the bathrooms. There’s no WiFi and the reception is not connected to the hostel. It’s just a place to sleep, I was quite disappointed, you can find way better for the price you pay here
The guy that worked there was rude to me I have no idea why. And the mattress was really hard haha, couldn’t really sleep on it for 2 nights But the price is low so can’t complain
It felt a bid dirty and the bed was really hard. The bathroom had water all over the floor and the faucet seemed old and hard to use

The bed was as hard as the floor. And the welcome was not warm. We had to wait a very long time to check in. Good location close to the port and diving schools. I'm glad I only stayed one night.

Had a great time at DJL hostel. Very friendly people, staff and diving crew, had some amazing dives with them. Yes the beds are hard but you get what you pay for and definitely is still worth it. Would definitely recommend super nice group of people.

I arrived to check in at 2pm after a long journey. Was told to wait as they had doubled booked and didn’t have a bed.. after paying. Still didn’t have a bed until 6pm. The bed then wasn’t made & no towel. 2 showers don’t lock(was walked into). 1 toilet doesn’t shut. Bed was rock soiled (back broken after 6 nights). Bedroom is a random room up the street from the reception/bar. was dark & not social. Good location near the to places though and staff were apologetic just bad experience

It’s a nice hostel. The bed got curtains but the mattress is pretty hard and you only get a sheet as your blanket. If you want to meet people I would recommend this hostel it is separated in two areas. There is a lot of showers and they provide soap which is nice.
very mediocre,zero social aspect as everyone is diving or asleep.door is on the street and always unlocked which leads directly into beds bit weird
Lo mejor de todo es la ubicación sin duda, y que si haces cursos de buceo o fun dive te puedes ahorrar algunas noches del hostel. A mi parecer le falta limpieza, solo se limpian los baños una vez al dia (hay 3 baños para 20 personas) y las camas son super duras e incomodas. No hay atmosfera ni espacios comunes para socializar. La gente de recepción no fue tan friendly honestamente. Precio calidad está bien.
The best part of all is the location undoubtedly, and that if you do scuba diving courses or fun dive you can save yourself some nights at the hostel. to my mind the cleanliness is lacking, only the toilets are cleaned once a day (there are 3 toilets for 20 people) and the beds are super hard and uncomfortable. there is no atmosphere or common spaces to socialize. the people at the reception were not so friendly honestly. price quality is fine.
I like it has aircon 24/7 inside the dorm. Bunk beds were were quite wide and long with privacy curtain and reading light. 3 electricity sockets at every bed. However, the mattress was wrapped with plastic and then put bedsheets on. When I slept on the mattress, I could hear plastic sound and it made me sweat while sleeping on such mattress. Lockers were available but only can put smaller items like laptop. My own padlock was needed for such locker. Toilets ok. 4 Bathrooms but 2 not usable.
Staff friendly and personable, and it’s located right next to the pier so you’re not having to carry bags very far. They’re maybe the only positives. Beds super hard and uncomfortable and the air con doesnt get through the curtains, so it gets quite hot at night, don’t think I had a decent night sleep there. Almost no atmosphere there: no social area, nor kitchen. Bathroom area also pretty dirty. The main social area is around 1.5 miles away, but quite a nice walk if able.
A bit dusty and needing a bit of TLC, the place actually ticks most boxes. Comfortable beds with frame that allows for generous dropped shelf. Light power socket, good curtains, access to small locker. Hostel requires a key to access. Staff were lovely and spoke great English. Bar was dead af. Organised my DSD diving with the hostel and the instructor was fantastic. A/C wasn't working on my second night but probably temporary. Very close to the main pier, and nowhere on Koh Tao is very far away.
Had a great time. It was clean, cheap, everything worked. The Dive Bar is just down the road. They hold quiz nights and BBQ's. Good all-round experience.
Loved my stay at DJL Hostel! Located in Mae Haad, it's close to the pier, shops, and restaurants, yet quiet and peaceful. The rooms are clean, have great privacy, and come with strong AC. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and always helpful. Best part—it’s part of DJL dive center, so diving is super accessible. Perfect spot for comfort, convenience, and meeting fellow travelers. Would definitely stay again!
The hostel is attached to a dive center, they do BBQ every week and have a bar with nice atmosphere across the road. They convince me to do some diving and it was awesome! Clean beds, good air condition. Great location close to the pier and not to far from Sairee, can walk there 20 min. I will stay again if I’m back.

Was okay for a night being close to the pier for an early ferry. Wouldn't have wanted to stay any longer though.
AC turned on but barely worked was really warm in the room. Bed were horrible really hard would have been better to sleep on the floor! Bathrooms were ok.. No hot water though! It’s close to the pier if that’s what you want but far from the nightlife . Not very social
The hostel was clean, the staff super nice, perfect location. It's not a social hostel but I couldn't care less since I was there only for 1 night.
