Gladstone Backpackers

I don’t know where to start, the first room we stayed in was very clearly not cleaned before we arrived, the bunk bed ladders we not attached at the top so it was sketchy to get in bed. The kitchen is so dirty and unhygienic you wouldn’t be able to cook anything anyways. None of the facilities displayed are in working order or usable, for example the pool was dirty and the washer and dryer were both broken. Breakfast was literally just a loaf of bread. DONT STAY HERE.

I spent 3 months in this hostel... A horror. Toilets always dirty and without toilet paper. 3 showers out of 4 usable and filthy, where I already found used tampons, contact lenses or excrement. The atmosphere and patronage is dubious. No handles on room doors, so no security or privacy. The neighborhood is very bad. The managers are not attentive and are always ready to take money for any reason. High prices in a small town(And I won't even mention my experience as a volunteer)

I was charged double for my stay. I have tried to email them to ask for a refund but they only replied to one of my emails saying ‘the refund went through as cash’ when I have received absolutely nothing. This is totally unfair and really don’t recommend.

My friend and I arrived at the hostel late at night where we had been told (written together by email) that there would be a crew to let us in. There wasn't. Luckily, we met a nice girl who missed her bus who was able to let us into the property. It was dingy, dirty and there were pickles hanging from the ceiling. The next day we met a very reserved staff who didn't care if we were locked out. We paid and left. Cannot recommend

Don’t go there! Guests are unfriendly and are all living there long term. Rooms are full of stuff (dirty underwear was in our beds) bathrooms dirty. We had no blankets or pillows even after we changed rooms. The smell is really bad. At least the woman was nice and gave us a refund.

This looks absolutely nothing like the photos. We’re pretty sure there were bedbugs. Found a lizard and a cockroach in the kitchen. Would not recommend or return

Pas de petit déjeuner, pas de serviettes incluse, pas de ventilateurs dans la chambre ,pas de casier individuelle pour ranger ces affaires personnel comme ils disent sur la réservation, niveau propreté aux niveaux des douches et lavabo à améliorer et oui serrure des portes a revoir jai failli rester dehors car la clé ne fonctionnait pas, appart ça personnel vraiment sympa j'ai bien était accueilli mais j'ai était un peu déçu d'avoir payer sans mon petit déjeuner comme prévu dans la ...

No lock on the door so didn’t make me feel very safe. Luckily I was travelling with a friend but if I was a solo female traveller this would be a massive read flag!

Got told to check in late and then arrived to a locked door and no answer on the reception phone. Eventually door was opened and I checked in with a €50 deposit taken incase I wasnt clean etc. I was rushed through check in, kitchen was dirty an cupboards were falling apart, showers were broken unclean, taken to a room with no handle or lock, receptionist wasnt sure whether someone was sleeping in a bed, went immediately back to bar. Partying past 12.30, no warning. Had to be up at 6. joke😂

Amazing place, great staff, amazing animals, exceptional atmosphere

Awww, one of the best hostels I’ve stayed at. The vibe was amazing and it felt like home right away. The team really tries to make your stay special. 100% recommend. Good to know: there are quite a few animals around the house, which I loved. But if you have a dog allergy or don’t like birds in cages, check ahead. The rooms don’t have lockers, and some have no AC, but each bed has its own fan. The showers are unisex and laundry costs $7.

Nice hostel stayed here for 1 1/2 weeks. Nice people, staff and atmosphere. Two cute dogs. A lot of fun hostel activities and a nice bar in the hostel. Would definitely come back!

Lovely staff and hostel, only issue was lack of locks did feel like anyone could walk in. Additionally in the morning they chose to do bathroom cleaning and close all the bathrooms right before checkout so very inconvenient timing

this place was such a vibe, it feels like how I think all hostels should feel.I immediately felt welcome, the food & drinks were good, the other travellers were incredible. I wish I could've stayed a couple extra days :) the rooms without AC are pretty warm so if that is important to you just book one with AC!

Gladstone backpackers rocks! I love literally everything about it, if you miss this on your Australia trip your dumb end of story

This is the best hostel in Australia for me! The staff is so friendly and very welcoming, I felt so good there. They’re doing their best to connect everyone with really cheap and good dinner and some events in the hostel. Would really recommend staying there and I will definitely come back one day!

Cool spot

A hidden gem in Gladstone, this is how all hostels should be. Great atmosphere, layout and vibe I’d come back any time to stay. Special shout outs to Fran and Jack who made my stay amazing!

Awesome hostel!

Honestly I didnt stay for long since it was mainly a stop over to go to rainbow beach. Staff was pretty cool but like I mentioned I only stayed for a few hours.

Nice hostel, little oasis, relaxed and familiar athmosphere

Vibes are high!! Only stayed here for one night in passing, but wish I stayed longer. Jack is the best!

I stayed at Gladstone Backpackers for 1 night while on a road trip. Upon arrival, the hostel manager was very helpful and friendly. The facilities were very clean and orderly. Overall a very chill vibe at this relatively small hostel. I would recommend Gladstone Backpackers to anyone who is either passing through town, or staying long-term.

Very nice staff. Wifi is fast. Nice atmosphere. Kitchen is clean. The food is very good. The atmosphere is very pleasant. The manager is super nice and even helped me get a job. By far the best hostel I've been to so far.

Great place & good vibes !

Brynn the manager was lovely, he took us to the shops when we needed and we also joined the staff and locals for a beach/ boat day - for no charge. We thought everyone was so friendly, a great place to stay on your way up the east coast!
