There is more staff than guests, and the staff is constantly in touch with each other and very close so it is difficult to get in between. it is also a bit of an alternative hostel in terms of staff so the way of communicating is not always polite and hospitable.
Unfriendly and extremely unprofessional owner. Booked the hostel because of the free parking. Indeed free parking on the street upfront. I asked if there was some other places available too because it was really close to the road and scared that I will find my rental car damaged the next morning. Just after payment of the dorm I get an super unfriendly action from the owner: “YOU DONT HAVE TO STAY HERE”. I walked out. Flabbergasted.
We were worried about staying here after, seeing some very mixed reviews about staff, can see why. After a long bus journey, the last thing you want is to be met by a bunch of bananas, This could have been fun, if we felt involved with the joke, rather than ignored and left feeling uncomfortable. We arrived at the hostel, met with a very pervy joke, got to the room, dirty mattresses, blood, no locks, left ASAP, cussed and followed out, pressured about why we were leaving, no refund offer, bully.
Recommend not to stay here, owner had a physical fight with a guest and lingers the hostel drinking all day. Cameras everywhere to prevent kitchen misuse makes you feel uncomfortable. Pick up from the ‘bananas’ was tragic no one spoke a word to us so we followed behind like weirdos in silence. Netflix in the common room would be nice if the owner allowed you to use it, it interrupts his ‘music time’. Dog is sweet and showers/ kitchen are clean, but probs because of fines:)
Warning! The owner of the hostel is strange and unsympathetic. pls read the other reviews that are like this! I accidentally cleaned someone else’s pots (leaving ours by mistake) and was charged $40 cash because of this minor issue, the guy did not listen or care. They’re insanely strict, with fines for not cleaning before eating, swapping beds, etc. Checking the cameras and walking around to try and fine people, or be threatened to be kicked out. Was considering longterm but definitely not ...

Shortly arrival Manager / owner / baldie swore at me multiple times because I parked my car in wrong place told me to F off lol left immediately tried to get money back over the phone his response was ‘I don’t give a F if you stay here or not’ absolute weirdo
This place sucks!! The kitchen is dirty, there is no air conditioning, the doors to the dorms don’t have any locks which felt very unsafe, the bikes don’t properly work and worst of all; the owner is extremely creepy and rude. I was genuinely scared staying here and very happy to leave.
Employ staff that aren’t rude to your clients! There were bugs in the kitchen, a certain staff member made people uncomfortable and she was very rude!!

It's a really nice hostel with a very chill vibe. Everything is clean, the rooms are good and kitchen has everything you need. You can also take surf lessons if you want and the stuff is really friendly!!
fun hostel with family vibes. Loads of common areas to chill, cute hostel dog, decent showers and kitchen and loads of board games. You can also rent bikes and surf boards. The security could be improved (no locks on the dorm doors) but overall a really nice spot

The best hostel I’ve ever stayed in. Chilled out, options for socialising or keeping to yourself, friendly staff who get you involved in their antics, lovely owner with the cutest dog. I highly recommend the affordable surf lessons and flying experience. I’ll be sure to return in the future.
Loved our stay, great atmosphere and amazing staff. Also the facilities were quite good and close to the beach. Just a really nice beach vibe hostel.
Beautiful hostel with lovely friendly staff and a gorgeous hostel dog 🐕 ❤️ staff made me feel welcome and the place had a lovely family atmosphere! They had regular hostel events and made sure everybody felt welcome.
Cooles Hostel zum surfen und chillen. Viele der Gäste arbeiteten selbst dort, was es teils schwerer gemacht, sich einzufügen. Küche hatte leider nur einen Wasserhahn. Ohne Klima war es bissl warm zum schlafen. Hatte dort meine erste Surfstunde, war toll! Man kann für 15 Dollar Boards mieten, was auch nice ist.
Cool hostel for surfing and chilling. many of the guests worked there themselves, which made it harder for them to fit in. the kitchen had only one faucet. without air conditioning it was just warm to sleep in. got my first surf lesson there, it was great! you can rent boards for 15 dollars, which is nice too.

No air conditioning, just fans throughout which was not ideal given the heat. Lots of long term guests who weren’t very social with newcomers and some of my toiletries went missing.
Amazing hostel - all the staff were so friendly and we had an amazing stay here!
Not too bad, very rustic but pretty cool. Stayed in the private cabin which was tiny but cosy. They pick you up from the greyhound bus and carry your luggage in a car for you which was so helpful (dressed as bananas too). Dog was an absolute sweetheart too

Super nice atmosphere and the most friendly staff. Very open layout and only curtains as doors but lockers in rooms and felt very safe! The dog and the dancing bananas were a huge plus, the whole place was super clean as well! We would definitely come back!

Scott and the team gave us an amazing stay, even just for one night! The atmosphere and the staff made sure we had the best hostell experience in Australia. 10/10 would recommend! PS: join the team meetings if you can!
