Jackaroo Treehouse Rainforest Retreat

The staff weren’t welcoming on arrival and in the morning on removing the pillow case as requested by the hostel I found I had been sleeping on black mould. I addressed this issue with the manger, to which he had no response to & simply did not care, apart from sending me on my way, despite displaying distress over this situation. This is unacceptable from a health and safety prospective. Overall, the cleanliness of this place was poor.

All in all the treehouse was a very nice experience because of the great location in the middle of the rainforest. Unfortunately the toilets weren’t that clean and the kitchen was also not so nice. But therefore the staff was really cool and the vibe im generell was very nice.

Looks cool, chill vibe. Good shuttle service however it’s far from everything and there’s not too much to do.

The location is lovely and the staff friendly, but there are so many simple things that could make this hostel so much better. For example, having shower doors that actually close properly and have locks! Or adding safes/ lockers in the rooms, having hooks in the shower cubicles so you have somewhere to hang your stuff! Adding hand soap in the kitchen - really simple stuff! There are also only 4 female toilets & showers which didn’t seem sufficient. Filthy walls near the beds.

lovely staff. furniture in the communal area was a bit worn down but has a good veiw over the forest. the rooms were okay however one woman was very abrupt and was tetehretetehretethered long term. feel like she thought it was her room which made it a bad atmosphere. notnlocated near town and is up a gravel road- they do offer a shuttle bus however.

Hostel is very remote (around $70 taxi to the nearest supermarket and back) so you need to bring enough food with you and BRING BUG SPRAY! The amount of mosquito bites I got is crazy! Kitchen was always clean and tidy and the hostel is quite relaxing but the pool was dirty the whole time I was there so didn’t use it. No chairs around the pool either so you have to sit on the ground if you want to sit in the sun.

lovely quiet hostel

schönes Hostel mitten im Regenwald. Mit eigenem Auto kein Problem, aber woollies und Co ist relativ weit außerhalb. Leider war die Klimaanlage über Nacht an auf niedrigster Stufe, sodass es sogar mit pulli zu kalt war. Sauberkeit war mal so mal so.

We loved staying in Jackaroo Treehouse, it was such a retreat from other places we’ve stayed! It’s slightly removed from the tourist spots but very easy to get to these with a car. It was very quiet and calm while we were there, and it had everything we needed. The kitchen was clean and well kept and the cafe on site was great. Would definitely recommend a stay here!!

Very very remote. Would only recommend if you have a car. The hostelrooms are rather old and run down. Same goes for the facilities. The staff is lovely though, and helped me out great. Loads of bugs and other animals around though, especially when its night so if you don't like that don't go. Okay hostel but not the best.

Sehr sauberes Hostel, schön eingerichtet, freundliches Personal. Liegt eher abgelegen im Regenwald.

I really loved the hostel and the remote location in the jungle. I rented a bike and explored the area. Only downside was that the shuttle service didn’t operate and they didn’t let me know beforehand so I paid $30 for a 15 min taxi 🙃 just double check before you go there!

Great Hostel for a relax after Whitsunday and Kgari week. In a really nice jungle setting. Only downside is the amount of bugs in the evening!

Jackaroo Treehouse is a very beautiful, peaceful, relaxing, clean and cosy place to stay. The staff was very helpful and kind. Great place to meet people and I enjoyed every moment of my stay. Highly recommended.

I had such a nice stay. The staff were really friendly and the location is really beautiful. It rained while I was there but they have a cute cafe and bar in the hostel so it was great. It’s very easy to get there easy get there and around with the local transport service. I definitely recommend staying here and will hopefully stay again.

Loved our stay here, staff were super friendly. Wasn’t very busy when we went so not social but we still enjoyed ourselves. Defo need to bring bug spray here !!!

A great place to stay set in the rainforest, lovely swimming pool, good kitchen facilities, a cafe / bar which sold delicious bagels, breakfast muffins, cafes. I was in a 6 bed dorm, there wasn't any lockers or curtains on the beds but didn't really matter. They turned the air-conditioning off from 10am to 4pm and the room got extremely hot and took about another 2 hrs to cool down which was very annoying, especially if you want to chill out there. The cafe also shuts from 2-4pm.

Great hostel the rooms are quite basic but the views and facilities are great. There were wallaby’s there, definitely recommend staying here it does feel like a treehouse

Room and facilities were fairly basic but had everything we needed for a short stay. It’s a bit out of the way but being in the rainforest is cool and it’s easy enough to get in and out of town with the buses. Overall a really chill vibe around the place and would happily stay again if I was ever back in Mission Beach.

Our stay at Jackaroo Hostel in Mission Beach was absolutely incredible and one of the best hostel experiences we’ve ever had. Heel fijn hostel! Leuk om hikes te doen en even lekker in de natuur te zitten. Zit wel wat verder weg van het stadje/supermarkt. Maakte het verblijf niet minder leuk. Hele chille accommodatie, aardig personeel en schone keuken/badkamers. Doordat het wat kleiner is raak je snel aan de praat met andere backpackers. Ik zou het zeker aanraden!

Absolutely loved this place - felt like such a relaxing break in the rainforest. The staff were so lovely and helpful, and I would love to return here!

Super cute hostel! Only downside no place in the shower to put our stuff. Bed was also comfortable and enough toilets/showers etc :)
