   Horrible experience, absolutely inattentive staff, smallest rooms i’ve ever seen, dirty showers and toilets. Manager tried to pressure us for good reviews with money, this explains their good ratings.. absolutely sort the reviews by worst to have an honest picture of the place…

   It's a nice enough hostel. Not the best but not the worst. The beds have curtains and I slept well there. They ask for reviews in exchange for luggage storage and give a free beer if you follow their socials, which I find off-putting. Free breakfast was nice. Toilets and showers can use improvement and there are not enough PowerPoints in the room. Not particularly social but I only stayed one night.

   ABSOLUTELY AVOID THIS PLACE! This hostel has been the worst experience in hostels i’ve had. the place is dirty, the mattresses are stained and riddled with bedbugs, the showers smell like something died in it and downstairs people are going on wild “meditation” trips. the staff are rude. their response to us leaving in the middle of the night was: “perfecto”… to get our money back we would have had to write a good review on hostelworld and google. to sum up: they buy their good reviews and the place is a dump.

   The guy from the nightshift is great but the other part of the stuff .. unfriendly and cold. The hostel wanted me to pay 150 mxn (8usd) to store my backpack for 2 days - ok no. But than they also wanted me to pay for storage until my bus at the evening! Only storage at check-in day is for free. Never, never in 47 countries I should have payed for storage at checkout day! The owner told me a deal. Free storage for good review. No way. only honest reviews! pillows are stinky and dirt behind beds.

   We arrived at the hostel and were ushered into a completely different hostel with no explanation. We were taken to a separate building further down the road that was not advertised and had none of the facilities including; pool, 24hr security, ping pong etc. The staff will say it’s a “nice room that we’ll like”, it’s not, it’s a separate building and honestly felt like a scam. Shame because the hostel we booked looked alright when we looked around. Worst of all, when we requested an explanation, we were met with radio silence, after a bit of persistent chasing we were offered part of our money back in exchange for a positive, dishonest review…anyway, here’s the honest review! If you do get to stay in the actual hostel, it might have the potential to hit your expectations. Only positive was the lady on the desk was friendly.

   THIS IS WHAT I WROTE TO THE MANAGER: We booked a 4-bed-dorm from the 7th-9th of august through Hostelworld. When we arrived at 12pm on the 7th there was no space for us to put the luggage in a safe storage. Later when we came back to check in the staff ignored us and they didn’t explain any of the communal spaces or amenities. The door of our dorm didn’t even have a key, felt very unsafe to leave our belongings there. We got approached by several men trying to sell us jewelry and stickers. We felt that there were people taking drugs and that made us feel very unsafe, especially as there were signs everywhere saying that we couldn’t even bring alcohol to the hostel. We came back to the hostel in the evening and wanted to shower. The shower was unspeakable, it smelled horrible and was dirty, also couldn’t lock the shower door!!! This was the first time that we really looked at our beds. What we encountered was terrible. There was a huge stain on one of the mattresses, another bed didn’t even have covers and we got claustrophobic in there. No working power sockets in the walls to charge our phones… We decided to look at your reviews again and found out about some bed bugs traveling around your hostel recently. That was the final straw and we decided we couldn’t stay here any longer. As we left your staff asked us why and as we explained our reason for leaving his only answer was „perfecto“ Today we came back to cancel our second night and we had planned to tell your employees about our experience but on the end I don’t think it’s their fault which is why we are letting you know personally. We first got told that there was no way to get any of the money back. Then we found out that if we left a 5-star review on google maps we could get half of the money of 1 night back (400 pesos). We were so devastated that we decided to go through with it. I posted a 5-star review but then you told your employee that all 4 of us had to post a 5-star review in order to get the 400 pesos!! We did it, got the money and left as soon as we could. It’s beyond unbelievable what you are doing. all the good reviews on the web are bought and false, we later even read some reviews saying that this also happened to them so we know that we’re not the first ones this has happened to. We feel cheated on and this behavior is disgusting, you should be ashamed of yourself. We have now decided that we do not support this behavior and took down our good reviews. We still want a full refund, and we really feel like posting an honest review about our experience. Nothing exaggerated but the honest truth. We’re also really thinking about contacting Hostelworld and letting them know about your behavior, safety problems and scam. have a good evening. NEVER GOT AN ANSWER

   SORT REVIEWS BY LOWEST! the manager pays people to leave a good review and cancels the booking on hostelworld to avoid bad reviews. there were no lockers for our luggage before checking in, we didnt get a key for our room, showers smelled really bad and were dirty, staff didnt care, no one showed us any of the amenities or gave us any kind of welcome or introduction, mattresses were stained. There were people trying to sell you their jewelry or art inside the hostel. Wouldn't recommend, you can get much nicer places for the same price (even AirBnB's)

   Below par hostel, rooms were not nearly as nice as others of this price. Staff asked us to leave a 5 star review in exchange for leaving our bags in the lobby area or they’d charge us which we thought was really weird. But location was a plus

   Overall it was okay, however it was very loud and every morning children running inside the hostel. There was also a cat roaming around the room and eating trash from the bins. The most important thing is that the majority of reviews are probably nothonest because when we wanted to leave our bags in storage they told us to pay 120 pesos per bag or leave a 5 star review for free storage.

    Pros: Location. Cons: Private room not cleaned (or poorly) from prior guests, sheets were dirty, shower had hair left on walls, room hot - one small fan on high ceiling roof, room very loud from street traffic, pool dirty/murky (first pool in Latin America we refused to get in), we could not store luggage for a couple of hours after checkout unless we paid or “gave a review”. (Makes me question the other 10/10 reviews). Wouldn’t return or recommended to others. Happy to leave after 2 nights.

    DON’T TRUST THIS HOSTEL’S REVIEWS! Worst customer service ever. Noisy. Musty smell. Bathroom so small my knees were touching the wall when sitting on the toilet. I’m 5’8”. Not a giant. Customer service was SO bad and the manager (Sonia) SO rude that it made me extremely uncomfortable to even consider staying. I seldom write reviews, but this is worth mentioning. Especially since the manager threatened us to get us to remove a negative review. My friend had checked in the night before and was pretty much dismissed by the guy at reception. She mistakenly said the reservation was through Booking instead of Hostelworld and was immediately ignored and told to go find the right hostel… at 10pm. When I joined her the next day, within 3 mins of sitting in the lobby the manager came to see me and was verbally aggressive, giving me an ultimatum to either leave the premises or make my friend take down the review she had written, which we did but they still forced us to leave. We requested a refund for the 3 out of 4 nights we didn’t stay - since they forced us to leave. They only offered us the equivalent of 2 nights and CALLED THE COPS on us when we tried to get the rest of our money. Unfortunately we caved so as not to deal with local police force. Never ever in my life have I encountered such HORRIBLE customer service. The only saving grace was one of the receptionists, a girl named Ana, who was very apologetic for how we were treated. Note, I also tried to leave this review on Hostelworld directly, but they cancelled my booking to prevent me from doing it. STAY AWAY!
