There was a mouse in the room and he ate a part of 2 of my bags. Asked to change room, a man snoring all night, came back to the first room and mouse still wondering around. Really bad experience !
Madpackers need to realise something that is extremely important… just because accommodation is labelled as a hostel and cheaper than others doesn’t mean you have an excuse to have bad hygiene! It doesn’t cost much to replace old and dirty bathroom supplies and bed sheets ! This property falls extremely short of western hygiene standards. There are windows looking out to staircases with bright lights on all night and they don’t provide curtains. There is no common area ! Just a dark rec...
Terrible Experience - Avoid A complete rip-off. For ₹4,500/night, you get a tiny, smelly room with no TV, wardrobe, or lift. The photos are totally misleading. The hygiene standards are non-existent: the property reeks, common area sheets are dirty, and staff actually hang their underwear in guest areas. To top it off, you have to fetch your own food delivery from the reception and there’s no in-house cafe. Easily one of the worst properties in Rishikesh.
Terrible experience. When we tried to sleep we found cockroaches all around the room and in the bed. Spoke to the worker, he moved us to a different room which was great, however in the morning we tried to extend and we're told to stay in the new room we had to pay double, our only other option was to move back to the cockroach room and on top of this when we tried to use the shower in the morning, the handle broke and then they turned the hot water off. Nice looking hostel but terrible workers.
My stay at Madpackers was unfortunately not a pleasant experience. I stayed in a 4-shared room, and the conditions were disappointing. The windows couldn’t be opened, there was a lot of mold in the room, and it had a persistent damp smell. In the evenings, a staff member played loud shooting games right next to my room. I asked them to stop, but the same thing happened the next day. During the day, they also played loud music, making it impossible to rest. I checked out three days earlier.
We arrived at 9 pm after an exhausting overnight train, only to find the receptionist asleep. When we requested an early check-in, the staff, without checking, claimed the dorm was fully booked. They rudely refused even when we offered to pay for an extra night. After insisting, they reluctantly offered a 12 pm check-in, which made no sense. At check-out, the same employee couldn't help with a taxi, so I had to walk over 1 km at night. One of the worst reception experiences—avoid this place.
Horrible stay, I do not recommend this hostel! First, the staff was unhelpful, showing no willingness to answer questions or provide explanations. When I requested a taxi, they didn’t call one, and after a 15-minute delay, the staff offered to take me to my destination (5 km away) for an exorbitant fee, practically extorting me. Truly a terrible experience at this hostel! I also noticed they treat locals differently from foreigners. I don’t recommend this place at all.
Easily the worst hostel I stayed in in India. The building is moldy to the degree it’s a health hazard to spend a night here. The location sucks since the bridge isn’t operational (as of Oct’24). Lockers don’t close properly. Checked out after 1 night.
Water Supply Issues: There were frequent disruptions in the water supply, which made basic hygiene and day-to-day activities quite challenging.Air Conditioning Problems: Both the AC in the common areas and in personal rooms were not functioning properly. This made the indoor environment quite uncomfortable, especially during warmer days.Lack of Community Activities: While there is a community team that tries to engage with guests, there are no organized activities or events to bring people toget
Bit of a mixed review for madpackers here. It’s located on the quieter side of the river, which was actually really nice. Can get really expensive on weekends, so book in advance. There was a mouse and several cockroaches when we were there and the bathroom didn’t smell great, though the beds are clean and spacious. Rooftop has great view, atmosphere improved after the weekend. Staff were really friendly and helpful.

Worst hostel experience I have had. Placed in a different building to those on the pictures - no common areas/atmosphere. No signs for “quiet hours” so kept up until 1.30am 2 nights in a row - asked to be moved rooms but apparently every bed in both 5 floor blocks were full? Cold showers - again complained and was told “no one had ever flagged this up” and “you have to wait for it to warm up” - untrue. One shower between 6 people in 1 room. Lack of security - reception is often u...
Good clean hostel with lots of facilities and amazing roof top terrace. paid extra for a room in the main building but it didnt have a window or a fan. So should have been a cheaper room in my opinion.
Felt all the good vibe and view here

Very nice hostel, the location is great, staff very kind. Totally recommend it
It was quite loud at night until around 2:00, and the building has very thin walls. The bathroom also smells bad. However, the location is great, with nice cafés nearby in the center of Tapovan.
I don’t understand all the good reviews. + Location is great. - Solo room and bathroom were dirty. Bed sheets smelled bad, there was mold in the bathroom and the shower was leaking heavily (I would rather not think about the ecological impact). - Staff was average. Not the nicest I met. - Loud people talking in the corridor after 11 p.m. and very thin walls. I didn’t change rooms because I checked in pretty late and I was exhausted, but I left first thing next morning.
Dachterasse ein Traum, Lage supi, Badezimmer sauber. Man konnte Lüften und es gab eine AC. Leider hat die Bettwäsche nicht so gut gerochen wie im Madpackers Jaipur.
I loved the area and thr rooftop. Beds were clean and the staff was helpful
Very good and social hostel
really, really loud. might be a good thing for some, but loud music from 9am to 11:30pm, room walls are really thin and the rooms smelled, sometimes horribly, from the sink. maybe you can have more luck with your room. but the rooms were very clean and cleaned daily :)
The door for room 102 didn’t close properly, giving a direct line of sight from reception to my (curtain-less) bed when the foot was open. Not only was this a security risk but made me feel very exposed and the noise was unbearable. Despite mentioning this to the staff nothing was fixed. In addition bugs were found in the bed directly next to mine! Rest assured I packed up my things and left as soon as possible.
Loved my stay here, the reception team were so lovely and made me like like part of a family 💌
The hostel was okay. Clean and fine but some lack of facilities at the property - no fans in the dorm and it got really stuffy at night. Plus no curtains on the bunks atleast in the mixed dorm. The terrace had great views.
Amrita and Varsha and very welcoming.. Recommended for all the Rishikesh Travellers..
Trop bon séjour dans cette auberge. J'ai été dans les deux immeubles, et tous les deux sont propres et agréables. Les chambres sont top et confortables ! Merci au staff pour tous leurs conseils, je reviendrai avec plaisir ❤️
great place and good community managers
