Masaya Cartagena

I found the bathrooms pretty dirty not sure how regularly they're cleaned there's like 3 toilets and showers in one place for the whole floor. The rooms were really stuffy and AC only on from 7pm at night. The rooms were tiny nowhere to really keep my backpack as the lockers are small. The pool area was nice and can chose to have breakfast included. I liked the privacy screens and places to hang things to dry in the room.

Had a terrible experience here. First night aircon in 6 bed dorm didn’t work. Spoke to staff 4 times, who said it was working. Didn’t sleep due to heat. Next day staff admitted aircon was broken and said they “fixed” it. Last night of stay broken again. Had to re book somewhere else. We weren’t even going to get a refund, had to push for it. Staff didn’t care at all, kept ignoring us and were dismissive. Toilets and showers were also not the cleanest.

Was very unlucky to stay during a poll party for local influencers. Most people who attended the party were from outside of the hostel, shared bathrooms were full of girls doing make ups, having tiktok lives, photo sessions, selfies etc. the party wasn't made for the guests and most guests didn't enjoy it.

New hostel construction noise 24/7 get to a better one !

Worst hostel experience we have ever had. We were not warned that there would be constant construction all day, during every day we were there. The construction was right next to our room, on the other side of the wall my bed was on, so the constant hammering and drilling sounded like it was in my skull. It was impossible to relax in the room during the day, which was needed as it gets so hot in Cartagena. It was also impossible to relax by the pool/ bar because the noise was also so loud there

Great location and friendly staff. During my stay, there was repair work going in the adjacent room which caused lot or disturbance right from early morning and made it difficult to even sit near the pool. Air conditioning was turned off during the day and with the heat outside, made it impossible to stay inside the room. I didnt find the hostel to be very social, so probably better for a group or a couple or someone who just wants to relax and not really engage with other people.

Good hostel in a good location but i have to give it a lower ranking as I got food poisoning from the hostel restaurant one evening

Thumping music through the wall until 3.30am, and the four bed dorm was quite hot despite aircon (which seemed to be set to 27 degrees). Could not sleep until 6am, immediately booked to stay somewhere else nearby.

Nice hostel but not worth the price, expensive. Pros - staff super nice great location, modern, clean, nice pool and rooftop, air conditioner, comfy bed,free towels. Cons - room very small, no hooks or anywhere to hang towels or bathers, lockers to small for big backpacks and shared room not enough space for everyone's stuff, bin in room too small, filled and overflowed every day (rubbish on the floor all the time)

Je ne recommande pas du tout. Réveillé à 8h à cause de travaux dans la chambre, serviettes qui sentent mauvais, terrasse fermée à 21h et interdit de fumer dans tout l’hôtel. Vous trouverez largement mieux avec le nombre d’hôtel dans la ville.

Really enjoyed our stay. The hostel was clean, the staff were generally friendly, and the location in Getsemaní is excellent. The bunk pods are big, comfy, and very private, with great lockers too. Loved having hot showers! The pool area is lovely and the rooftop is cute, although the drinks are pretty expensive. Breakfast was great and definitely worth it. Only downside is there’s no kitchen for guests. Overall, a great stay!

great hostel nice and central in Cartagena but the drink prices are scandalous

Lovely hostel but the dorms are hard to sleep in. The open bathroom means the light / fan wakes you up every time so you don’t sleep till the last person goes to sleep and you’re awake with the first person. The hostel itself is lovely and feels like a hotel and the staff are also really great but the dorms are noisy

Nice clean hostel, capsule dorms are great. Slightly dodgy road but generally well located and nice pool / rooftop

Plus un resort qu'une auberge. Beaucoup de couples et difficile de faire des rencontres si l'on est venu seul.e. Mais c'est très propre et la piscine est appréciable vu la température de Carthagène. À noter, les douches sont froides et il y a la clim dans les chambres.

I really liked this hostel the capsules are so nice and the staff are lovely! Breakfast is so worth it. However I stayed here twice in the last week and both times there were power cuts (for hours at times) and issues with the water (no water for almost a full day) it’s not the hostels fault I think there’s works going on outside but if you’re staying in the next while I’d maybe recommend a different area!

Okkkkk so this place was lux‼️ Rooms circling the pool you can literally wake up and hop straight in - and it’s a gorgina pool too!!! Location is chefs kiss you can lay by the pool and literally hop out for an Arepa and straight back in 😍 Only downfall is there is no kitchen so no late night hot dogs or cup of boiled water 💦 the pool and the room set up with great bed pods totally makes up for it and I needed a break from hot dogs anyway. LOVE this place

Very nice rooms, clean and modern showers, toilets and the pool was awesome. The vibe at the roodtop needs some attention and could use a cleaning- but the happy hour was a nice deal for cocktails. The nice and free towels were the cherry on top

Really nice hostel that feels like a more like a hotel. Beds in dorms feel really nice and private. Breakfast is also big to set you up for the day. Mirrors in the rooms would be great so you’re not constantly running to the toilet!

Very boujie vibes. Didn’t find it the friendliest of crowds! Not the best for solo travellers. But lovely pool and food.

I really recommend Masaya! The pool area is lovely and the beds are comfortable. There does seem to be some differences in quality between the dorms though. One I stayed in was great but the other one had quite a lot of bugs on the walls. The staff are super helpful and let us move room when the air conditioning wasn't working which was lovely. The vibe isn't particularly social, possibly because there is not a big range of activities put on, it seems to be the same every other day.

Beautiful pool and area to chill, lovely rooms - some dorms with AC and en suites. Powerful showers! Staff were all super lovely and fun.

I was only here for a night but it was so clean and I loved the pool. Felt very safe and staff was very helpful. Only downside is there was construction on the road so it was locked off and we could only access the pavements which was annoying with luggage.

Belle piscine, serviette fournie pour en profiter. Il est facile de rencontrer des gens. Le personnel est adorable. Seul bémol il y avait de la poussière autour des lits en dortoir.
