America del Sur Hostel Buenos Aires

You don’t go to hostels for peace and quiet, but screaming ten-year-olds running up and down the halls and banging on my door and others well past midnight with no parents or staff paying them any mind was a new experience. Disappointed.

I must say, I was quite disappointed. I’ve stayed at this chain in El Calafate and absolutely loved it. However, in BA the kitchen is tiny, the sink in our room was leaking, the toilet seems old and run down. I had booked two consecutive stays (because I had a second person joining me) and sent an email requesting to stay in the same room. They told me they would do everything but I still had to check-out and in again later that day.

Overcharging compared to what’s on the website

Someone stole my laptopbag with all my money, computer, and passport - the cameras doesnt record and no compensation That happened under allegedly 2 locked gates and behind my back while i was there and 3 staff members behind the desk Definitely not safe Everything else in this hostel is ok And the staff is lovely

Nikki at the front desk told me we’re taking advantage of Argentina by trying to get the blue dollar rate. She was not nice as I was trying to figure out if it was best to pay in Argentinian pesos or credit card. It was 10,000 Argentinian pesos in cash a night or 30USD by credit card, so I was confused with the conversion rate. 30USD for a bunk bed is too much, no breakfast included, no soap to wash your hands, no curtains for the beds etc etc! They advertise their rates in ARS then charge in USD before you arrive. It’s in the small print but is very misleading and doubles the cost. We asked to pay in ARS on arrival and they change the conversation rate. We asked to cancel or refund and they would not, even though it left us broke for the whole time there. No compassion. Would never stay again. Stay clear.

They advised the hostel at a cheap rate and then take almost twice out your bank account in USD. Hostel is average at best.

They charged me two times. I decided to pay in cash(pesos) and they take money from my card in euro. Incredible.

I was really shocked how unfriendly and unflexible the staff was. Maybe it's also the policy of the hostel but I felt unwell from the first moment on and decided to leave earlier.

Excellent hostel! The building and the rooms are new and well-maintained, the staff speaks perfect English and is very friendly and helpful, the atmosphere is good, the common spaces are great, and they even kept the charger I forgot for 1.5 months!

I spent the week before in a social hostel and here enjoyed the not very social atmosphere

Die Unterkunft hatte alles was man brauchte! Tolle Betten, ein eigenes Bad im Zimmer und ausreichende Verstauungsmöglichkeiten. Gardinen vor dem Bett für die Privatsphäre wären nicht schlecht gewesen.

I stayed 3 nights here and it was clean, well maintained, and sufficient. The kitchen is inadequate and too small for the amount of people. Also it was probably 90% men staying there so common spaces were not always a safe, comfortable place to hang out. Staff were fine. Nobody took action though when a guest walked around barefoot 100% of the time and was extremely unhygienic…

Great location, not much of an atmosphere because of how big it is. Only some of the beds have curtains which I found weird, I really liked that they make your bed everyday for you and the rooms get cleaned everyday. The kitchen is somewhat well equipped but it gets crowded very easily in there and the fridges need to be replaced badly.

The staff are the best , and the overall experience here is really outstanding mostly thanks for professional assistant you get for any ask or need . The best team and place I met during my whole trip. Perfect experience will defiantly recommend to anyone plans to visit Buenos aires

A very nice hostel in a safe and good area. Super clean, staff are friendly, commonareas are big and very social. The additional breakfast is simple, but good. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious as well.

Unfortunately when I arrived the individual working that day was rude and dismissive when I asked for a bottom bunk when I explained I had an accident and was also recovering from cancer treatment. He should be more kind and aware about disabilities . I understand they may not always have bottom bunks but empathy goes along way. However, the next day another colleague Gaston was really lovely and made an effort to find me a bottom bunk and was very empathetic.

Premo location, everything is close. The staff are friendly and helped with everything. They clean the room and make your bed daily. The shower design in our room was dreadful. Great hostel for exploring the city on foot. There seems to be long term stayers here, which is always an interesting time. The kitchen is very small. The common area is pretty much full of people working on laptops. Has a pool table and table tennis. Big ups

Arguably my favorite hostel in the city. Always people outside, great location and good facilites.

Great location! Great spot for exploring San Telmo and Centro on foot. Kitchen facilities were average at best, really small for the amount of people wanting to use and limited pots, utensils etc. Bathroom in room had probably the worst set up I’ve ever seen. They also allow long-term people and they take over kitchen/room space. When trying to book an extra night in person, they tried to charge a far higher price than online - be wary!

This is a class hostel and made my trip to Buenos Aires even better. Definitely the comfiest rooms I've stayed in so far, big social space inside, outside and underground (with pool and table tennis) -only downside is the size of the kitchen and fridge space but I still think it deserves a 10/10

Uno de mis hostels favoritos! Cada vez que voy a Buenos Aires no tengo dudas en volver a America del Sur. Muy limpio, increible localización en San Termo, pero lo mejor son los trabajadores. Manu y Gastón me han hecho sentir en casa desde el momento qué llegué. Te ayudan con cualquier duda que puedas tener, son super dedicados y amables.. en fin, son la gente más bonita 🥰 Gracias chicos 🤍

Music is often too loud, which is Bad for remote workers on a meeting. People are not too social in general. Also, it says mixed rooms but they will always try to keep it with the same gender. A problem for me because the room is the place where you can easily interact, and I wanted to interact with girls. They also “upgraded” me without my request from a 8-10 people room to 4. Making it even worse. A girl who was really nice and we bonded was only put in the room on my last day.

Good location with lots of buses stops nearby, plus supermarkets are super close. Staff were always there and more than happy to answer questions and give suggestions. Also, it was always super clean in general.

Overall a good and clean hostel with kind and helpful staff, but when I was there, there was just nothing going on. Enough people in the hostel but no one was socializing.

5 🌟 Because ROMAN. I've been in the hotel/hostel biz for over a decade and Roman is the type of person you want on thr "front line". Genuine, Enthusiastic and patient...those are hard qualities to find and even harder to maintain for such a demanding job with lots and lots of questions and needs. Mine got answered before I even asked. Thanks Again. Hostel was social if you wanted to be. I met many travellers and was invited out a few times. Nice common area and Great gym CUMBRE close by.
