Yea I stayed in October and first few nights I was getting bit which resulted in minor lymphitis owner was telling me it must be a spider but then I was up late one night and found two bedbugs crawling on my pillow and sheets. The owner also cancelled when I switched hostels so I could not leave a review. He is a nice guy but tried telling me I brought the bedbugs when in reality I had no bites in Skopje and this was first Hostal I stayed at in Ohrid. If you go to golden age Hostal they will take care of bedbugs the right way with chemicals

Beware! The place has bed bugs, and the owner is manipulative — acting friendly and pretending to be surprised about the infestation. Don’t be deceived by his attitude. I ended up with bed bugs in my mattress during my stay. Avoid booking here unless you want your trip ruined by bed bugs. I had over twenty bites on my skin and the owner tried to gaslight me Please read other comment on booking.com this isn't the first occurrence!

This hostel has a great location and the staff are friendly and helpful, which made me feel welcome and made a difference to the atmosphere and community. The kitchen is well-equipped, which is a plus. However, I did encounter bed bugs during my stay, and the facilities, especially the bathrooms and other amenities, could use some updating. I would only consider staying here again if the bed bug issue has been clearly resolved or the hostel has been somewhat updated.

So I found bed bugs when I first checked in, staff were very apologetic and moved me to a new room and I had no issues after. I also noticed staff going in and deep cleaning that first room so they’re trying to fix this but yeah honestly it did make my first night less restful as it was a concern until I could confirm my new bed wasn’t part of the problem. But the staff were nice and helped me organise stuff to do in Ohrid. And the hostel had a decent social vibe too

I only stayed here for one night but I could definitely feel that the place had a very chill and laid back vibe which is hard to find nowadays, the owner was super nice charismatic and helpful, location was also perfect, didn’t experience any problems with bedbugs as stated in other reviews

It was the worst hostel experience of my life, and, trust me, I've stayed in a lot of hostels in the past few years. I was there for one night and that was enough for me having to go to the hospital, due the amount of bites from BEDBUGS I got. It was so bad! After I've left, I was contacted by the owner and he offered to refund me my money, but only if I deleted the review I put on Booking.com with the pictures of my arms and legs covered in bites. Of course I said no. And talking to other people who I met in cities close by Ohrid, this bedbugs issue is not recent. People have been complaining for months, even years, and they clearly don't care about. So if I can give you a piece of advice, don't go there!

One of the best hostel experience I've had in years of travel. I've stayed here before and came back because of the amazing experience it is. Very cozy, social & lovely atmosphere. Owner Gjoko is the best! Trips and boat rides offered. Free bicycle. Very comfortable beds, nice full kitchen, social homely living room, multiple bathrooms. No bed bugs when I was there & owner had just done a full disinfection. They do a full disinfection every week and whenever someone brings them. Travelers bring bed bugs regularly in all hostels but good hostels do regular disinfection like this one, though no one saw any while I was there. Highly recommend!

❌‼️🚫 BEDBUGS🚫‼️❌ 세계여행 2년 5개월 중 이렇게 베드버그가 많은 호스텔은 처음, 벽과 침대에 빈대가 우글거린다. 나는 3층 4번 방에 묶었는데 2층 방에도 모두 빈대가 있다. 1년 전에 리뷰에도 빈대 글이 있는데 지금은 아마 빈대가 호스텔을 장악한 것 같다. 나는 밤 12시에 가려움에 잠에 깨서 주인에게 연락했고 주인은 나에게 리셉션 옆 소파에서 자라고 했다. 다음날 내가 떠날때까지 그는 모습을 보이지 않았다. 제발 가지 마세요. 제발 In my two years and five months of traveling the world, this is the first hostel I've ever stayed in that was so infested with bedbugs. The walls and beds were swarming with them. I was in room number 4 on the third floor, but all the rooms on the second floor had bedbugs, too. There was a review from a year ago about bedbugs, and it seems like bedbugs have taken over the hostel now. I woke up at midnight itching and called the owner, who told me to sleep on the sofa next to the reception. He didn't show up until I left the next day. Please don't go. Please.

Bed Bugs, we did get a refund but had to sleep on the floor. They need to figure it out, it seems like its been a thing for a bit.

Nice location and good vibes. But its not really clean and some other guests had bed bugs in their beds.

Property was in a solid location to the lake and central park of the town. Room 100% had bed bugs and only 2 showers were available. Owner was very friendly and helpful but the promised boat tours that I was excited about weren't happening regularly as I had originally thought. Would probably stay somewhere else if I go back to Ohrid.

BEDBUGS!!! Hostel was alright, while we were staying there the other guests all seemed a bit older and to be working online which ruined the vibes a bit. First night was fine and the next morning we heard there were loads of bedbugs in the upstairs rooms, which we were scared of because the hostel world reviews from a month earlier but we hoped it would have been fixed. The second night we also saw bedbugs in room 2 next to kitchen where we were staying so everyone in our room decided to leave. The owner thought it was impossible or maybe just one but we didn't feel comfortable with that. We canceled the rest of our stay but the owner put us down as noshows on hostel world and because of that we couldn't leave a review on there. Owner didn't seem to care as when we left he put new people up in the upstairs rooms with bedbugs.

BEDBUGS. As we checked in, some other ppl who had stayed the previous night warned us about bedbugs. I talked to the owner who acted like he had no clue what I was talking about. My bed had bedbugs. And lots. Had to pick them out of all my stuff, it’s horrible

Bedbugs bedbugs bedbugs. I know this doesn't happen to everyone and the hostel other than this is not too bad but if you are unlucky enough to end up in one of the infested beds it's not fun! I booked here as nothing else was available and stayed for 2 nights, i'm now battling about 200 extremly itchy horrible bites from my face all the way to my toes, not to mention all of my clothes being infested! The hostel is fine but i would avoid if you do not want to be eaten alive.

DO NOT STAY HERE! THE HOSTEL HAS BED BUGS - it had them weeks before I arrived & still had them when I was there (the owner doesn't care!). The owner and staff didn't even care when I told them I got bed bugs. WORST HOSTEL EVER! The kitchen is disgusting and tiny, the bathrooms are falling apart & completely mouldy. One of the bathrooms didn't even have a proper wall or toilet. Not sociable, no common area. I don't know why anyone stays here and I left after 1 night here. Nobody was at reception to check me

I stayed at the hostel for two nights in June. There were bedbugs in my bed. When I arrived back in Spain, I had to go to the dermatologist because my entire thigh and arms were covered in bites. The girl in the bed in front of mine had the same issue. I sent photos of what had happened to me at the hostel; they apologized and promised to refund my stay as long as I didn’t leave a bad review. I sent them my PayPal, but I never received the money. I wrote a couple of emails and no answer

There were bed bugs at this hostel, there was mold in the bathroom/on the shower curtain, and the shower head was broken. The volunteers were friendly but the hostel doesn’t have much of an atmosphere in my opinion. The location is close to the old town

The host is super friendly, always tries to help guests whatever they need. The location is perfect to explore the old-town and the lakeshore. Bed cleanliness can be better as there’s a bedbug bitten my face and finger. Also, the room was freezing even though it had a heater. Duvet was too flimsy for the winter. He immediately tried to fix it next morning, but it didn’t work again at night

Location - great. Owner - super nice. What was terrible was a bed bug in the hostel in beds and walls. Owner was surprised but after checking Google reviews we found out the issue is ongoing for months. Avoid if you don't want to end up covered in bites.

Great place with big rooms and good location near local restaurants Woke up one night covered with bed bugs. Found out after that the hostel has known about the bed bugs for a while and is trying to manage it. I wish they had informed us before that this was an ongoing issue, would’ve booked somewhere else and avoided the hassle. Was given a refund for the issue.

Amazing host who will go out of his way to provide the best for you, good breakfast of fresh bread every morning and a staying in a great location. My only concern is that I found a bug in the bed and since have come up in a lot of bites, but the host was very understanding and moved me to a new bed when I brought this up. Thank you for a wonderful time in Ohrid :)

Confirming the previous comment, there are bed bugs in the hostel. When we confronted the owner with the issue he seemed unaware of it. Not sure what he is going to do about it. If it wasn't for the bed bugs, I would have actually wanted to recommended the hostel. The owner was helpful and the location was great.

The hostel has a really good location, the owner is really friendly, but...... On the next morning I found out I was heavily bitten by bedbugs. I don't know why am I the first person to mention them, but I really would like you guys to exterminate all these bedbugs
