Mad Monkey Nacpan Beach

DO NOT STAY HERE!!! INFESTED WITH BED BUGS we stayed 2/3 nights we booked checked out early the rooms were like a sauna with no air con and I got covered in bed bug bites all over my legs that didn’t leave for 2 weeks. Had to wash my entire backpack to make sure I was rid of them & staff were rude.

The atmosphere in this hostel is great, and the entertainment staff do an amazing job. However, after my second night, I noticed I had been bitten by bedbugs. Two other guests also had bites, and we were all staying in different dorms—quite concerning. I understand that bedbugs can be part of the backpacker experience, but what really disappointed me was the staff's reaction. They refused to believe us, insisting the bites were from sandflies or mosquitoes. When I searched my bed for proof, I actually found a bug, but they dismissed it as just an insect—too much of a coincidence. I asked for compensation since I now have to wash all my clothes and luggage, but they refused to do anything. For a hostel with such a big name, I expected better service. Disappointing.

No me ha gustado nada. Para empezar hasta llegar allí tienes que aparcar en un sitio y cargar con las mochilas por la arena de la playa unos 300metros. Pero eso es lo de menos porque cuando llegas allí que todo está lejos aprovechan para ponerlo todo caro, los taxis, los tours… cobran por las toallas y no tiene aire acondicionado. Tienen ventiladores que hacen mucho ruido, y encima está de mosquitos hasta arriba! Pero ya el colmo es que las camas están llenas de chinches, estoy toda picada y he tenido que lavar toda mi ropa. El personal tampoco está muy implicado en comparación con otros hostales de la zona.

I have never given a one star review in my life but I've had a horrible experience at Mad Monkey Nacpan. I can handle the no air con, the loud music and sand everywhere but I woke up covered in bed bug bites and after some searching found one on my actual bed and took a photo. I went to the staff asking if I could check out a day early as due to the bed bugs I didn't feel comfortable staying an extra night, the staff member made a call to check but informed me there would be no refund if I decided to leave, and there was no apology or offer to move me to another room. I ended up leaving and having to pay double for another booking elsewhere while not getting any money back from mad monkey. I spoke to a few different staff members about the bed bugs and none of them seemed worried or surprised, they checked another girl into the same room when I was leaving. It wouldn't have been a 5 star before the bed bugs but it's definitely not worth more than a one now, I would never go back!

Stayed here 2 months ago in a tent and got bed bugs! Then got moved to another tent with more bed bugs! However our previous tent did not get cleaned and they let people check in straight after us who checked out the next day due to bed bugs. We had to move for the third time to a loft and was bed bugs. Also a whole dorm was infested with bed bugs while we was there too. Unfortunately all hotels in the area were sold out so had to stay there. But bad experience with staff didn’t help us at all. Avoid staying here and just visit as food and atmosphere is good

Staff are great, hostel is very isolated. Would not reccomend staying for more than one night as there is nothing to do other than the beach. No AC, bedbugs and often running out of water. You are better off staying in El Nido town and coming here for the day

Loved the activities that the hostel put on especially the boat trip and the reps that work here are really great! I did arrive late at night and got chased down the beach in the darkness by a stray dog as it’s a difficult hostel to get too, so having someone meeting people further down would help! I enjoyed my stay here but I did also get covered in bed bug bites from my bed here

I stayed here three nights and do NOT recommend at all. The beach it really nice and at first I thought it was going to be nice staying at a beach hostel but I was so wrong. The food took terribly long to arrive, the rooms were much hotter than it was outside, such a weird vibe here, the Wi-Fi was really bad and worst of all: s*** tons of bedbugs. I’m literally covered in bed bug bites after the visit and after staying here and doing some research I’ve found many reviews of people saying they’ve encountered bed bugs here. I promise these aren’t any other bites than bedbug bites. So yes don’t stay here unless you’d like to sleep with bedbugs in 40°C heat!

it was beautiful that it was exactly at the beach plus the beach is really beautiful. and in the evening it also looks cozy. but the bad point was that it was so far away from everything, the wifi is really bad (if you need the wifi to book stuff do it before you go there) and my bed had terrible bedbugs. I left earlier then I planned, not a place to stay longer then two or three nights.

We had heard good things about the place and decided to book one week, but when arrived we had a small shock and everything changed. Luckily that we had a chance to cancel some days cos otherwise would have been waste of money and time. We chose for the "Twin Glamping" option, and it was really too expensive for what you get. The normal tents are much worse though, regarding space. The place is surrounded by an enormous amount of dogs, which can be intimidating and dangerous(rabies), especially at night time, if you are walking at the beach, where there are no lights. The toilets were often cleaned but the water is terrible. It is brown, smells rust and you should absolutely avoid contact with it, which is what we did.. One day before our departure, after we came back from our relaxing day at the beach we found out that all our stuff had been moved out of our tent, because they, mistakenly thought we should have checked out already. This was really frustrating and on top of that they moved us to another, smaller, tent instead, without offering us a compensation. Another thing to know about this place is that there are lots of either bed bugs or sand bugs(this is how someone told us they are called), that will destroy you overnight. Our body, especially our backs got full of bites that stayed for couple of weeks after, making our trip a little less comfortable.. The parties in the evening are quite nice and friendly though. So if we would ever go to Nacpan again we would either stay in El Nido and commute to reach the beach or another place at Nacpan beach and perhaps join a party event there. If you are a survivor person and don't care about being clean and just want to party then this is the prefect place for you....

I stayed here on 8/11-18 and found bedbugs. Do not go here until something has been done! Otherwise nice place

The staff took all of our stuff and put it in bin bags while we were out for the day, they offered no explanation and we had paid for the night. They unreserved our beds and we had to be moved. The room, food and drinks are also the most expensive in the area and not worth the money due to poor service. We also were covered in bed bug bites when we checked out.
