Clean bed and clean bathroom 👍 Great view. Could have used more room to move around in the bathroom (shower was way too small to move around and not enough space for toiletries, change of clothes and towels).

clean hostel, quiet location even though it's next to road, friendly staff. five minute drive to grocery stores.

Lovely stay at the Bear on the Lake. Felt more like a bnb which made our experience great. Free tea and coffee and great view of the lake. Would recommend.

The Bear feels like home. I’ve stayed here many times on my way from nb to nl. Beautiful deck, chairs, hummingbirds and view. Gorgeous group kitchen table, fully equipped kitchen, clean sheets and exceptionally clean bathrooms and shower. I’ve met interesting people, enjoyed the surrounding countryside and markets. The proprietor is a ray of sunshine. I look forward to staying here like it’s my favourite vacation spot!!

Very beautiful area, clean room, full kitchen, comfortable living room and dining room. Everything is so convenient.

This hostel is an absolute delight. Yes the rooms are a bit pokey, but the washing facilities are brilliant, the kitchen a great size, there are multiple areas for you to sit and chill and Nancy is a great help too. Our only criticism is that there is a lack of toilets. downstairs there is 2 rooms of 4 sharing a toilet and shower, however because its downstairs everyone is using it so this can be tricky. The location is amazing, so happy we found this.

What a great find! Spotless tasteful decor, lovely view, friendly people. Everything one could ask for. Plus manager brought me Tylenol after I had a shoulder incident. She was so helpful!

Beautiful setting, comfortable rooms, very friendly host, a kitchen with everything you need for cooking, and plenty of opportunities to get to know other guests.

A home away from home. It's like being in a big friendly house with roommates. I enjoyed spending time in the dining room / kitchen area to get to know some of the other guests. We even made dinner together one night.

I absolutely loved and recommend this guesthouse for a getaway in Cape Breton! The bed was comfortable, the kitchen all equipped, tea and coffee facilities. And restaurant with good food only 4 minutes drive. Nancy was really nice and great with recommandations. Thank you for this lovely stay.

Amazing all round, nothing negative to say.

We had a wonderful stay - clean, well-equipped kitchen, comfy beds, super friendly host and great atmosphere. We felt right at home!

This is a great location and we have met so many interesting, fun travelers during our stay. Nancy keeps the place immaculately clean. She is a great source of information about the area. We are Congratulating ourselves on finding the place.

Great hostel with super view.

This is about as good as it gets for hostels. It was an incredibly good price and was very nice. Clean, quiet, and beautiful location.
