Zostel Varkala

Average stay. Expensive as per zostel standards. Dirty bathrooms. I had to ask them to clean multiple times after which they did clean it. The water was dripping from the AC in the room. Bedbugs in the other dorm where my friend was staying. Uncomfortable due to all these hassles. Just because of the location giving more stars. Decent overall.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING, they had bed bugs which gave us allergy and itching. If you’re planning to go for hostels, try hope or soul. It’s much better and it’s half the price than zostel. We go to zostel for the name and reputation. But this location is absolutely worst. The building is run down. Nothing is clean. Everything is disgusting.

Me and my wife stayed in the dorm with lots of bed bugs. Our room was suddenly shifted next day without telling us the reason. We got to know about the bed bugs by one of the room mate next day. My wife got lots of rashes on face and chest and we were thinking that it was due to food. We consulted a doctor also but in the end found out that it was due to bed bugs. Very poor management. Not expected from zostel. Also veg food in the hostel was very poor. Cook used the ready to eat rotis available in the market. Pathetic food quality

I had a truly unpleasant experience at this hotel. The rooms were in terrible condition, with bed bugs that caused significant discomfort. Despite reporting the issue to the staff, my friend was not allowed to switch to another bed, even though there were clearly empty ones available. The hotel has a policy of no footwear beyond a certain point, which would be acceptable if the floors were kept clean. Unfortunately, the floors were filthy—sticky, with sand and dirt everywhere. This dirt inevitably got onto the beds, making the stay even more unhygienic. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. Cleanliness and basic hospitality seem to be nonexistent here. Avoid if you can.

Bed bugs everywhere. Don't ever book this hotel.

Firstly, The roads to the hotel are very bad. The room we got was a cottage stay, and it was smelly and the bedsheets and blanket were not properly washed, they were smelling and dirty too. There were many insects outside the cottage and some inside too. The photos put up on the website for this cottage didnt mention the size of the same. There was no body-wash or any such essentials needed for bath. The towels given seemed washed but they weren't, it smelled very bad and stinky.. The other day our room was a standard deluxe room, which again had the same issue with essentials and towels. There were some small bed bugs on the bed too. The zostel cafe only had non veg options which is very disappointing if people staying are veg.. There was no in room dining option available, and there was no service available to call the reception for any assistance! No plates or spoon or any utensils available except for 4 tea bags and 2 cups and one kettle. The charges are premium and costly but it's not worth the stay at all, nor is the service or the stay comfy or good in smell. Very disappointed with the whole stay!

Rooms were good and neat. We found bed bugs. Check for bed bugs before you use.
