Hotel Tepepul Kaan

Staff seemed really annoyed when I asked to check in, didn’t share the WiFi password or give me any sort of tour, they didn’t say anything about the free breakfast advertised….just asked for the money and pointed to my room. The place is really dirty, has no hot water and we lost power for a couple hours. Also trying to relax after a long day of travel I had to listen to the staff playing video games and watching videos ON FULL VOLUME all day.

The only issue I had was that I had booked a 4 bed female only dorm and was shown to a twin room with a man. Although I was fine staying in this room, it’s quite important when it comes to gendered rooms that someone gets what they booked as there’s a number of reasons as to why they may have booked it.

okay place to stay but dont expect much

its ok , its pretty cheap for my own en-suite bedroom , its up a bit of a hill but still only a few mins from everything, they do a good breakfast in the morning on the roof with coffee. They do have their family ( kids) playing outside the rooms but it never bothered me

A lovely family run this hostel and their kids are the cutest but sadly we arrived and the room wasn’t ready at check in time. It was quite dirty after we checked in and the rooms in general were a bit scabby and the toilets weren’t great. You do get a free breakfast here but it was pretty poor. Lovely people but fine for a stop over and that’s that

PROS: Location. Towel/breakfast included. Hammocks. Ensuite bathroom. Clean. Good beds. CONS: No hot shower water. Booked all-female dorm but given room with 2 men. Owner claimed no other women booked (not a good reason); only offered to switch on last night. Toilet has no seat cover. Dorms are open - no privacy curtains, no security boxes, no personal lights. Did not answer email communication.

Small family hotel but not very social

Niet de moeite waard om kamer met uitzicht te boeken. We kregen een andere kamer bij aankomst. Opzich aardig personeel en schattige kinderen. Ontbijt is prima. Goede prijs-kwaliteitverhouding!

Nice location, great price and good staff. Some of your money goes towards scholarships for local kids which is nice. Kitchen not to big and not to clean, overall nice

Very friendly staff family. Free water. Beds are okay, the hygiene in the bathroom and room is generally really not the best, I guess it's what you can expect for the given low price. They close a big gate in the evening and you get a key, so it feels safe. I did not try the breakfast. Location is very good and rather quiet also. Towel is included. Not a very social hostel as the common space is limited also.

Great view from the balcony! Great value! They do not take credit card must use cash.

Very good value for money, got a private room for cheaper than some dorm. Also free breakfast is nice. It’s a nice family owned hotel and everybody was very friendly. Would def stay again!

Friendly family-owned hotel. Nice breakfast with a really nice view over the lake. Room is small and the bath is weird and too small. Overall ok for a night or two. Good value for the price

Super cute hostel in San Pedro! There are tons of hammocks to chill in and the view from the rooftop is beautiful. It’s doesn’t have a social atmosphere but is perfect for relaxing away from the chaos.

Amazing hosts, great location, comfortable beds. Would stay again and again.

Really lovely place, breakfast is good, lots of communal space to chill. Family are very friendly and 25% of your room cost goes to supporting local children’s education!

Small family hotel but not very social

Buena ubicación (al final de una subida cerca de la calle principal), la familia que vive ahí muy agradable y siempre dispuestos a ayudar. Buen desayuno, lo recomendaría para quedarse en san pedro, económico y bien ubicado. Solo mejoraría un poco la limpieza en áreas comunes, pero la pieza estaba impecable. No es un ambiente tan sociable eso sí.

The free breakfast was great with a lovely view over the lake from the rooftop. Good location reasonable close to the main backpacker strip area although a bit up the hill. Room itself was a bit rundown with very little natural light and the bathroom was very strangely laid out. Overall fine for a night or so.

I couldn't say enough positive things about this hotel and the family who runs it. The owners were so wonderful and welcoming, greeting me by name every day and helping me with what I needed. I believe that some of the proceeds from the business also get put back into the local community which is very cool. The location is great as it's close enough to walk to everything in the main tourist area, but far enough away to avoid the party noise at night. I would highly recommend!

The best place to stay in San Pedro! 🥰 The family living there is lovely and was really attentive to any of our needs, the breakfast was good, there was a nice view from the rooftop and the location is good. It's also good to know that 25% of the rooms costs go to funding scholarships for local kids! The only negative points were the wifi that didn't work well and that you can easily hear the extremely loud music from party places around 😅 but it's not their fault hahaha

Loved staying here!! The family that run the hotel are so kind, the breakfast is yummy & you see them cleaning often. My only complaints were that there was no hot water & that I wasn’t aware of the gate closing at a certain time and almost got locked out of the property. Otherwise amazing experience!
