The Wheelhouse

Well located hostel, looks like the photos. As of Feb 2026 there is lots of construction noise next door, even at 3am with deliveries. It is quite small, in one of the private rooms there was nowhere to hang stuff + the towels were blankets. The blanket on the bed wasn't very big. Sign says ask reception for where to do laundry, they didn't know. Lots of small things to improve but overall it's ok.

location is great, in Chinatown, it's a bit difficult to find because at the entrance it might look like a clothing shop. the rooms are small but there is air conditioning and usually not many people so it's not noisy/crowded. not much social. there are 2 bathrooms upstairs and I think it's the same on ground floor. staff friendly and helpful, they let me leave the bag there after check out time

Good hostel with great location to discover Kuching !

This new hostel is well located in China Town. Very clean.

Great place to stay, fantastic location. Not a large community area but plenty of space in the room and nice fundraiser for cats store on the main floor.

Great overall staff were wonderful too

Place was clean, nice cozy and so close to all the restaurants and bars and food courts with them walking distance to the river

The wheelhouse is the best hostel I have ever been in. If you can have boutique hostel this is it, very clean, secure, and upmarket in hostel standards. Will definitely recommend it.

Nice laid back place, great location just off the waterfront, nearby bars, cafes etc. Dorm beds have plenty of privacy, kinda pod style with curtains. Staff are friendly too. Would stay again when I come back to Kuching

I really cant recommend wheelhouse hostel enough. Its new but you can tell the owners have put a lot of effort into making it clean and comfortable. Also extremely helpful recommend things to do nearby. Location is lots to do in the area. Thanks for having me

Nice little place in Chinatown area. Very close to the waterfront and a shopping mall which is useful, and there are bars and food places close by on the same street. It's clean and cosy, friendly atmosphere in the common area which has various board games and cards. The staff are also helpful if you want recommendations for food or things to do.
