Sea Sands Beach Hostel

I had to leave early from this hostel. It was my first stay in Sri Lanka and it was also my worst stay too. I got there and realised I didn’t book an aircon room and it was soo hot and stuffy without one. Unfortunately when I wanted to cancel my second night I got turned down for it with no refund and if I wanted aircon it’s an extra charge. I do think you need to read carefully when booking probably more my fault for not checking carefully but wouldn’t recommend staying without the aircon...

Huge disappointment! The only “ good “ thing about this hostel was the location Everything else was awful! Unfriendly staff, creepy atmosphere The room was very dirty! Thankfully i didn’t have to sleep on the full of stains bed ( i just dropped my luggage and left because my flight was 4 AM ) Anyway it was dirty i didn’t prefer to even set on it I used the stool instead The toilet was very unhygienic ( no toilet paper)

I arrived at the property and was told I couldn’t check in. I’m a solo female traveller who had been travelling for 2 days straight and was in a new country. He proceeded to tell me that no one would check me in after 10pm. He presented himself in a very cruel and insensitive manner. This caused me to start crying, where he eventually said I could stay in the dorm room. The room had no ac and was super hot, and in the bathroom there were flies all over the shower head and faucet.

weird smell in the rooms, you have to pay at a certain time in the evening and while I was there, most people just kept to themselves

Worst hostel I’ve stayed at because of how the owner made us feel super unwelcomed, also very unsocial

einfach zu erreichen vom Flughafen, aber nicht wirklich sozial. Strom hat teilweise nicht funktioniert und die zimmer sind sehr einfach gehalten. keine vorhänge, kein moskitonetz

Definitely not as described in the info & pictures. The staff were friendly but barely around, the bathroom was smelly and the beds were really uncomfortable. The food in the area was also not great. Good for 1 night before a flight.

Le lieu est un peu sal, j’étais seule et c’est un peu flippant mais le personnel est top et l’emplacement avec vue sur la mer était agréable

Personeel was heel vriendelijk! Verder zat het hostel naast een club waardoor je snachts wakker ligt en de bedden zijn niet zo zacht, maar ach. Voor dat geld mogen we niet klagen ;)

Good location overlooking the beach I will definitely come again

A really cool hostel right on the beach with a large, great common room. Friendly staff and a fantastic location! Definitely recommended.

Very nice hostel, with kitchen available and comfortable common area. The WiFi works very well, staff nice and available, very good view from the rooftop to the beach and close to many bars/shops

Very nice hostel over looking the beach, caters to all markets, here you get a/c dorms as well as non a/c dorm for people who are on the budget, nice common area with the sea view, I managed to witness the most amazing sunset in Sri Lanka, Manager Yohan & his staff they are very helpful, hostel is surrounded by nice and cheap restaurants, Beach bars, I highly recommend this hostel, I will return on my last day as well.

Great hostel for 1-2 nights! I stayed here after my arrival. I loved the chill out area and the Food Corner across the the street. Also, the owner and the employed man (I forgot their names) are extremely kind and helpful! Thank you :)

Niet heel schoon maar de ligging, leuke sfeer en het personeel maakt dat het allemaal goed.

Endroit top pour une nuit ou deux, accès direct à la plage. C’est propre et sociable. L’hostel est dans une rue pleine de petits commerces c’est super chouette.

Not as social as I expected, and the bathroom smelled. The staff were friendly and the beach front was fantastic

Maar 1 nachtje hier geweest, personeel was aardig maar niet altijd te vinden. Sfeer is matig. Prima om een avondje te slapen niet heel bijzonder.
