Ch'i Bocol Community Hostel

Beds are not comfy, dorm is far from bathroom, no moskito net in a jungle full of bugs, very hot in the dorm with 1 tiny fan for 4pax, and little pressure in the shower - no hot water. Nice to share dinner with everyone else, close to SC Overall very disappointing. "Closing the kitchen for renovation", and taking this opportunity to change the price from 45Q for a dinner to 70Q. When asking where to go to walk to Semuc Champey, the guy just told us too complicated, no help with tuktuk booking

Nobody told me that I needed to take (at night and) in the rain a 30 minutes hike (not an easy hike) and that I needed to pay 40 QT if I need help with my bags. They wrote me this information 2 hours before arriving and I didn’t even had internet to read it. Besides that the only had electricity in the comon areas and told me after arriving all wet. When I told the manger he didn’t react good. Actually a quite and nice place because it’s in the middle of nowhere.

Very bad place! No conditions at all! Beds are very dirty and the bedroom has no windows. We felt very unsafe. Beside that, bathroom is 10 minutes away from the bedrooms! And the pictures are way too different from reality! I don’t advise

Beautiful spot in the nature but the food is very expensive and you have to pay 10Q for every meal and every person if you want to cook for yourself (and its hard to buy food). Also the Manager Daniel is really weird and asked us girls if we wanted to volunteer for his nude photoshooting.He said some really inappropriate things and asked my friend if she wanted a Massage in his house.We felt super uncomfortable and wouldnt recommend staying here, especially as a female solo traveller.

Did not feel safe walking around the property. Beware of random men nearby. Location is inconvenient if you want to go to Semuc.

You have to hike through thick mud for 30mins and walk over a rotten bridge full of huge holes that you could easily fall through over a river - extremely scary in the dark. The guide went way ahead and left us in the jungle alone. Saw multiple tarantulas in the hostel. Rooms are far away from bathrooms and have no mosquito nets despite being open, also no WiFi. No lockers in the room. Food is nice but expensive for what it is. Family running the hostel are v nice. 1hr hike to semuc

Lorque nous sommes arrivés nous avons du payer un taxi car nous n’avions pas de navette et pas de nouvelles de l’hostel. L’accès â l’hostel est tres compliqué, le chemin est plutôt dangereux cela même avec le guide… pas de lumière dans les douches/toilettes ni pour l’escalier qui mène aux dorm rooms (grand escalier glissant). Pas de wifi dans les chambres. Pas d’eau chaude et l’eau a coupé durant notre douche… pas le top. Le personnel était amiable mais pas toujours d...

WARNING TO FEMALE TRAVELERS: Three female guests one female volunteer arrived at Ch'i Bokol during my stay. Within 10 minutes of their arrival the manager, Daniel, a tall man in his 50's, 1) offered to take nude photographs of them, 2) asked if they wanted to go on a nude night swim, 3) told them his room is great for "sauna massages". He also told me that he had repeatedly asked a member of the kitchen staff if she "wanted to come to bed with him". He is a predator

It is a nice location and comfortable hostel only a bit far from the road. We had a nice stay but the hostel missed a bit of atmosphere and love from the owners. It also felt a bit overpriced with fake cola costing 15 and a glas of box wine costing 35. We also had to walk more than a 100 steps to get to our dorm and the bathroom was all the way down the 100 steps again. Beautifully located in nature but could do with some improvements.

The staff were very friendly and welcoming so no faults there. However, it is a very isolated place and requires a lot of physical effort to get to. It was a hike from my dorm to connect to Wifi, use the bathrooms or get food which got old fast. Incredibly hot in the rooms with no ac, fans or ventilation left me drenched in sweat. It’s clean, secure and reasonably social. Food was decent. Beautiful views. It wasn’t really for me though and I would likely not stay again.

Mike, his family, and staff are great. The family style meals were very good as well and catered to my allergies. It was a very lovely hostel surrounded by beautiful jungle. That being said, if you are squeamish with spiders, snakes, and other critters this may not be the spot for you. Our room was not critter free and we were very thankful for the ones who were okay with cleaning out big spiders before bed!

This hostel is amazing, the location is incredible and the vibe is on point. Highly recommend this place.

Cute hostel in the jungle. Be prepared for a 30 min hike on a muddy path. Once you're there it is lovely tho. You can sign up for breakfast, lunch and dinner which is all cooked by the staff. Beds are comfy, I really enjoyed the quietness of this places

A beautiful hostel located within the jungle, Mike, karen and all of the staff really make for a great stay. If you want to stay somewhere where there is a bit more of a community feeling within nature this is perfect. Do be aware it is a bit further away from the other hostels, but they’re accessible by tuk tuk still!

Wunderschönes Hostel! Es liegt etwas abgelegener mitten im Dschungel und man sollte sich auch auf Spinnen einstellen, aber die Aussicht und die Atmosphäre ist wirklich toll. Das Personal ist super freundlich und hilfsbereit und die Räume sind sehr sauber und ordentlich. Es gibt viele Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten, verschiedene Aktivitäten und Touren werden angeboten und auch im anliegenden Fluss kann man sich super abkühlen. Wir würden auf jeden Fall wiederkommen!

Stunning location, adventurous trek to get there. We wanted something a bit more chill and laid back and this place definitely hit the spot! Loved the Semuc Champey tour and the tubing back down the river home was so much fun. Only thing to note is that there isn’t actually any organised yoga sessions going on, just a place where you could do yoga privately if you wanted to (mats provided)

This was one of my favorite hostels of all time. You can’t beat the location, it is well worth the hike. We could’ve easily spent a week here just relaxing and being so immersed in nature. Mike and his family are super great too.

LOVED my stay here! Staff are so incredibly kind & helpful, their son Anderson loved sitting next to me to play at dinner (I loved it) they have tours for semuc champey & you can tube the river back to the hostel, very social if you want or relaxed if you want too, right in the jungle (the hike to get there was an adventure in itself), they have a yoga spot overlooking the river, GREAT FOOD, only thing is I did wish the showers were warm but everything else was immaculate so it’s ok! Comfy bed...

Hostel zit midden in de jungle, liggend aan de rivier. Badkamers zijn erg schoon (koud water), bed in form lag erg lekker. Personeel is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam. Je bent wel redelijk afhankelijk van ze, omdat er in de buurt verder weinig is. Eten is er erg lekker en divers. Bij weinig zon kan de stroom soms uitvallen, dus een opgeladen powerbank is aan te raden. Vanaf de weg is het 30 minuten lopen naar het hostel, leuke route door jungle maar wel goed om te weten. Voor rust een aanrader!

Loved our stay here so much. The private room was beautiful and kept the mosquitoes out! The cooked meal every evening was delicious especially as a veggie with huge portion sizes. Cool half hour hike to get there but be prepared with walking books, especially in rain season! Showers are cold, sometimes the light didn’t work.

My friend and I had the best time there. The staff is amazing: helpful, and always there for you. The owner also answers all your questions, makes sure that everyone has a great time there. This place feels truly magical. You’re surrounded by nature and can really immerse yourself in this wonderful environment. The only thing to keep in mind is that there is a bit of a walk to reach the hostel. Aside from that, this place is just so amazing. I can highly recommend to stay here, a 10 out of 10.

Gorgeous place, great food, super fun tubing and lovely owners and staff!

Great hostel if you want serenity and just a break from things. Its def an adventure to get here and out. Everything u get here had to be carried on a literal old man’s back- hence u do need to pay a little if u wanna use the kitchen. Family dinner is great. Its vegetarian. Owners are lovely and friendly. Overall really fun experience to be in if ur trying to go to chamuk champey. You can walk there in 30 mins and its a pretty nice walk. The trek up and down the hostel is pretty adventurous.

Hermoso lugar, la csminata para llegar vale la pena ya que la sensación de hospedarte rodeado de la selva es único. El personal un 10, las chicas son super amables y atentas. Las instalaciones también excelentes. Lo único que no me ha gustado es que en el anuncio de aquí te dicen que se puede usar la cocina si pagas, lo cual no es verdad, no puedes usar la cocina. Y los precios de las comidas también son distintos a los reales. No cambia la experiencia, hermoso lugar.

If you are looking for a truly remote jungle stay in Semuc Champy, this is the SPOT! Mike’s dedication to building this hostel is truly unbelievable, no detail has been overlooked. The best part of this place is the yoga deck that overlooks the river it is sooooo beautiful. At one point, the kitchen flooded a bit from the rain AND THEY STILL COOKED US ONE OF THE BEST VEGETARIAN MEALS I HAVE EVER HAD!!! The hike in is really cool too and a fun part of the experience.
