Kyoto Hana Hostel

Really moldy and dusty. So bad I left before my stay was over. The mold really bothered my friend and I. Has awful pump showers that are also full of mold. Stay anywhere else.

This hostel is located in the very centre of Kyoto, where space is scarce. There is very little room and virtually no sunlight in the house. No ventilation in the dorm. Everything else is perfect: great staff, spotlessly clean, great dorm mates.

Good if you like a firm bed and a quiet atmosphere

This hostel's strength is its position: you can reach Kyoto's station in 5 minutes.

There was only 1 shower and it was so freezing in there. The atmosphere of the place was kinda odd. There was no door outside the shower room so I had no privacy to blow dry my hair. The bed sheets were comfy though.

There was a strong unpleasant smell in the downstairs, especially in our room, even with windows open. I bought air freshener but that didn’t even work. Seems like the rooms themselves are just musty. Showers don’t stay on, you have to repeatedly turn on the water.

The hostel is just 5m walk away from the Kyoto JR station. It is very convenient as many restaurants and shops are nearby The staffs are very friendly and willing to help The building is a bit old but the facilities are in good condition

The furniture is quite old and rundown.

Overall functional and clean space for a short stay trip. Positives: -big Windows in room -kitchen and lockers Negatives: -one shoe cupboard for everyone makes it stinky. I would find another solution. -no curtains or door to the bathroom on the ground floor. Meaning everyone passing can watch you at the sinks. Toilets and showers obviously have doors. General note: traditional rooms which I appreciated, meaning the mattress is very thin and quite hard. If you don’t mind like me, then...

The place is really great as the location was convenient. I would go back!

Very clean, good atmosphere, safe space

Fantastic place, my favorite of the trip. Staff was friendly and gave great recommendations, the atmosphere was great and even got to meet some new friends. Facilities were very clean and the traditional tatami rooms immersed us in traditional Japanese living!

Great location, great staff . Comfy beds and spacious room. I accidentally forgot to return your umbrella, sorry . Located 10 minutes away from traditional Japanese baths !

This was a lovely hostel to stay in, the staff were really friendly and there were lots of recommendations of things to do and see. It felt sociable but also you were able to do your own thing if you preferred. Would recommend :)

Good hostel but wasn’t very social (maybe unlucky with the people). Also they only have one washing machine for a pretty big hostel… other than that it has a perfect location, an AMAZING staff so it clearly makes up for the small defects !

Friendly and truly helping staff and ease of the accommodation made up for the price, a tiny bit too high for a hostel. This said, the price was similar to other hostels for the weekend

Best in Kyoto ✨

Stayed for one night and had a really bad experience with the front staff KJ. He was extremely rude to me when he was asking for the key back even though I had dropped it off earlier. The hostel is extremely dead so if you are solo and trying to make friends I would not recommend. Men and Female showers combined if that is something you care about.

Very central, bed no to comfy normal in Japon I guess, good AC, include "locker", no much room for luggage.

Really nice hostel located near to Kyoto station, convenient for solo travelers . I would come back for sure!

Very nice hostel. Very clean, very quiet for sleeping. Staff is very kind and helpful. Mattress is a bit hard but ok.
