Billie's Backpackers Hostel

Only one bathroom in the house, there wasn't anyone there to tell you were anything was. It was so hot in there I ended up getting a hotel and only stayed 1 of 4 nights. I wouldn't recommend this place.

First hostel experience! Common area is nice. Security was poor for storing belongings & for getting into the hostel. I had to trust others not to take my things, even with my private room - I could only lock it from the inside. There are a couple men who hang out in the common area that aren’t staff, apparently are neighbors. There is no staff readily available if I had an issue. The check in side smells like pee, but the hostel side doesn’t. Don’t think cleaning happened often.

We arrived very late (about 5 a.m) had clear instructions about entering the building and finding our room. Quiet setting, we enjoyed talking with Billie and meeting travelers from Germany and Czechoslovakia.

Not the best hostel. It wasn’t in the best location. The closest place to eat was the Little Owl Cafe, which closes early on Saturday & is closed on Sunday. I only saw Billie once by chance. There was no tour of the place & only a note on the door telling me which bed was mine. There are no activities for the hostel to give it a community vibe & really no amenities. There were no lockers so you had to leave your stuff sitting out. Security was not great. Ok for the money, but could be better.

One of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed in. The entire place is incredibly cozy and the owners were very kind. If I ever come back to Fairbanks I will definitely choose to stay at Billie’s again!

Billie's was absolutely amazing. This place attracts very communal and kind people. During my stay, a fellow guest named Heidi kept prepping meals for everyone out of her own volition

An adorable, cozy hostel in Fairbanks! It was very social when i went, met so many nice people! There arent too many places that you can walk to from the hostel. Everything is about a 5-10 min Uber ride if you dont have a car. i did get lucky & saw the Northern Lights while i was there, saw it within walking distance from the hostel!

Billie’s Backpackers is a gem in Fairbanks. Perfect location for aurora watching, with free parking and a cozy, homey atmosphere—especially in winter. Great facilities and amazing people. Everyone is friendly, and Billie is truly a cutie. If you’re lucky enough to meet Art, you’ll see he’s one of a kind—polite, funny, and so warm you’ll want him as a lifelong friend. Highly recommend for aurora hunters and travelers.

Easily one of the best hostels I’ve ever been to. Everything is set up to make you feel like home, and I was amazed with the cleanliness. This is not one of those hostels where they nickel and dime you, they have everything set up to make it an amazing stay. Billie, the owner is the sweetest woman and helped accommodate my every request, and there are also a few locals who hang out in the area to give you tips on anything you need to know. Lovely people, clean, organized, quiet, great location--for me going to a conference at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, 24 minutes by foot to the campus student center. There is also a sweet cafe right around the corner.

Great hostel! Good proximity to airport and train station, go in on a late flight there were instructions left on the door telling me where my bed was. Very clean and cozy beds.

This is my third visit to Billie's so I am no newbie but this experience was particularly magical. I booked the private room (Barry's room) where I stayed for one night in the Summer of 2022 for the entire week after taking the train from Anchorage on the 5th and two nights in a row I caught the Northern Lights from my window and ran outside to capture them. Even if I stay other places in Fairbanks I will be sure to double-book a room at Billie's

Great atmosphere, very clean, accommodating, and hostess is welcoming, helpful, warm. Overall, I enjoyed my time here and the connections made with others. Clean, comfortable beds and great coffee as well!

Billie’s is a really chill , no frills hostel. With that said Billie keeps the place nice and clean and provides free hot coffee in the morning can’t ask for much more

Billie's is a wonderful place to call home while visiting Fairbanks. Billie and her son, Art, are wonderful, and the hostel fills up with people of all ages, backgrounds and places. We had a wonderful stay. Would highly recommend a stay here in any season! - ellen h.

Beautiful cozy home that is more like an Air BNB than a hostel- absolutely loved staying here. Very sweet owner who prepared a huge Thanksgiving dinner for everyone! I’d give 10 stars if l could! Highly recommend if you are in Fairbanks!

my time at Billie’s Hostel was awesome. it’s very simple overall but very good. they have everything needed and also very nice with everybody!
