Central Backpackers Hostel - Phong Nha

We stayed in one of the private bungalows and the room was extremely damp and mouldy. It was so damp the bedsheets felt like laying on a wet towel. All of my clothes and bag were damp and stinking when we left. It’s a shame because we enjoyed the common areas, the general vibe, and the cave tour arranged with the hostel.

This place has friendly people but not people who are looking for friends.

Hostel an zich was best prima. Enige jammere is de tour die via het hostel was geregeld. Deze werd halverwege afgelast en hadden dus het grootste (en duurste) gedeelte niet gedaan. Echter kregen we maar 15% van het bedrag terug aangeboden. En wanneer je hierover praat met andere dan grijpt de manager in om haar gelijk te halen na al talloze discussies. Ik heb ter hun verdediging na klagen nog extra geld terug gehad en ook geld terug gehad voor een nacht die ik eerder uitgecheckte wat netjes was.

The hostel is located really conveniently and would be completely fine for some people. however, when i was there, it was kind of crazy with so many 18-20 year olds that were screaming into a karaoke mic. the drinks at the bar were kind of gross and not cheap. annoyingly, the atmosphere was ruined by the crowd of drunk people being wild and honestly, it was a bit of a shame. on the other hand the staff were really nice… so that’s good. and like i said, the atmosphere just wasn’t for me...

Definitely more of a party/backpackers hostel. Well located, with super friendly and helpful staff. I’m sure other people would love the vibe here, we’re just not party people! Rooms were nice, bunks felt private and the bathroom was clean. The pub quiz and bbq were nice and the front desk were very helpful booking us a taxi to the duck stop.

Emplacement idéal, avec de nombreux restaurants à proximité et juste en face des départs de bus de nuit, très pratique. En revanche, dans notre chambre privée, les toilettes étaient bouchées et fuyaient par le bas, provoquant des odeurs très désagréables. Petit-déjeuner sympa malgré tout. Bon séjour dans l’ensemble.

Nice hostel but the portions of the food are insulting

Room was nice, bed comfy. Staff mostly nice. Food is standard, really good breakfast though in comparison to other hostels. When we were there, a bad stomach bug was going around. Multiple people very unwell including myself and boyfriend.

Definitely a very social hostel but not the kind I like so much.A lot of young travellers to talk to but there's often lots of drinking involved and activities that aren't really my thing like karaoke. Seemed like a lot of fun for the people that are into that. I appreciated that the rooms were far enough from the action that I could retreat to a quiet room. They were also very clean, bathrooms too. The breakfast is great. Buffet style, have as many servings as you like, definitely the highlight

Only booked this hostel to pass through but so glad I accidentally booked multiple nights and stayed to enjoy the awesome cave tour! The vibe is also so great at the hostel during the day chilling by the pool with the amazing mountain views, would 100% recommend!

Friendly staff and a very social atmosphere. We had a great stay here for a few days with comfy beds, good food/drinks, and the pool was great.

The hostel and the facilities are nice. Very cool to have the pool to cool down and breakfast very generous. Staff is also very helpful and kind. The only thing it’s a party hostel with many young people who are not really warm and friendly, so the atmosphere feels a bit cold and really western culture if you re really looking for something “ peaceful” and local. A part from that, thats not really something staff can do about it.

Great hostel, breakfast was amazing and staff sorted any issues we had

A fairly lively hostel, but they do a good job of shutting things down in the evening. The buffet breakfast is excellent, and on Sundays they have a free bbq in the evening which was way better than we expected. Lots of social space, but a criticism is that they allow smoking in all of the outside spaces, which means you are constantly breathing in second-hand smoke ew - for such a big hostel they could have an area where smoking is prohibited. The rooms are spacious, balcony space!

Had 2 nights here, staff were amazing. Very big and spacious hostel and on a whole the facilities were nice and clean. Would recommend!

Really nice hostel with a beautiful pool area, events each evening, and in a good location. Staff at reception are so lovely and remember everyone by name. Can rent bikes for a really good price.

It’s « Central » backpackers for a reason. Every bus and excursion start from there. They have a really good free breakfast, amazing location with the garden pool, good restaurant (not the best western food but ok). The beds are really comfy! I don’t personally like bathrooms in the room because it creates rush hour but they have some downstairs (4 flights of stairs so a bit far for a shower). Also my charging port wasn’t working properly. But apart from that i would recommend ++

Very clean, with good atmosphere, ideal for anyone looking to socialize. May be a bit noisy until 10-11pm max. Nice common rooms and pool, good free breakfast, good food&drinks from their restaurant, although a bit pricy compared to local prices. I ended up extending my stay by a lot of days because I got sick (from another place) and the staff werevery helpful and always checking up on me, I really appreciated the ladies in the front desk! Good location as well, definitely recommend!

The night staff on the reception extremely helpful, especially when looking for transfers

Super hostel! Eigenaar nam ruim de tijd om Ho Chi Minh door te nemen en daarnaast ook nog te kijken hoe ik mijn route door Vietnam kon doen! Erg aardig!! Niet een mega sociaal hostel, maar zeker wel een aanrader!

It is a nice hostel. For me it was a bit to busy at the general areas. But the staff is the sweetest and helped me really well when i had some problems. And overall there is nice traveling vibe

This place was one of the best hostels in Vietnam for me. I absolutely LOVED it here! The view alone was enough to make me want to stay there for years! The beds were comfy and the bathrooms were clean too. Free beer hour is amazing too! I really recommend doing the tours they offer here, great value for money and you are able to make friends staying at the hostel. Phong Nha was one of my favourite parts in Vietnam, couldn’t recommend it more!
