Maximal lauwarmes Duschwasser, Geräuschepegel am Limit, die Betten unbequem und zu klein, eine traurige Atmosphäre, keine Ablagefläche, schlechtes Internet, Steckdosen eher meh und die Person an der Rezeption war mürrisch und schlecht gelaunt. FYI Koala Hostel is the same place as Katanya hostel. Generally, a decent stay for a night. One off the staff was really helpful, the buffet breakfast is good and the private room is alright. But, I can't believe that this hostel has such a high rating, I truly think there are numerous fake 10 star reviews below. The saunas are derilict, the rooftop could've been great but isnt made to enjoy yet and half of the building is not used which gives it a weird vibe.

Wouldn’t recommend this accomodation. Staff was mostly friendly, location is good and breakfast was good. But other than that I would never wanna go here again. It is not very clean, it smells bad and not a nice atmosphere. Power outlets are burned and lockers are broken. Every time you want to enter, you have to ring a doorbell and wait for them to open. Very annoying. And outside there is NO sign that says ‘hostel’, that felt really unsafe and sketchy when arriving at 10pm.

Okay hostel, but the lack of facilities is making the hostel totally overpriced. The rooms has a thin window towards the big open hall made of tiles, making it extremely loud and hard to relax. Gym and sauna is out of function, though staff insist otherwise. Teracce is empty with no furniture. Kitchen is quite nasty and lacks utentils.

I honestly do not understand how the rating of this hostel is so high.. yes, staff is friendly and breakfast is included, but did not have a good experience. I booked a private room to get a proper night of sleep, which did not happen at all as the doors do not close fully and walls are very thin, so from 5am onwards I could hear everyone take a shower, talk in the common area, etc. Next to that, room was quite dirty (shower full of mold), curtains do not block any sunlight..

Stad was friendly. However my room was not clean. Floor was filthy. The sauna and wellness they advertise was not working so could not be used. The activity they recommended was not so nice. We could only kayak for one hour and were then pushed on a super commercial boat trip which was not nice. There are better hostels, definetely for this money.

Überall Schimmel im Badezimmer und dadurch sehr schlechte Luft im Zimmer. Zimmer hatte kein Fenster, war muffig und dunkel.

This is the same hostel as Kantaya Hostel, its windowless, dark and very damp. Good for a quick stopover but don’t plan on staying much longer, needs updating.

The Hostel is centrally located which is the only benefit. It’s extremely dirty with construction work going on on every floor. The sauna/steam room/hot tub are all completely inactive and destroyed, and it’s extremely noisy all day. Nous avons été très déçues de notre séjour. L’accueil a été très froid. Il n’y a aucune fenêtre dans l’hostel, aucune lumière naturelle ni aération. Il y a une odeur de renfermé, d’humidité et d’encens écœurante. Nous avions réservé une chambre privée, pas de nettoyage, vidage de poubelle ou changement de papier toilette. Had everything we needed for a 1 night stop- rooms were very basic but was a nice hostel with a half decent kitchen and games downstairs. We arrived at 5am the day we were checking in, they let us check in for 50% increase of the room cost. Most hostels have let us in no charge but makes sense.

a bit tricky to find. the staff was very friendly and sweet! it is tricky to have proper airflow in the rooms, because there are no way to open windows, and no ventilation (at least not from what i could see). otherwise, fine hostel.

Overall it's fine for a night or two. The included breakfast is really nice, but the room I stayed in had frosted windows out to the hallway and no curtains, so a lot of light came through in the evening making it difficult to fall asleep early.

Overall great, 24 hour reception is great, staff speak good English. Sadly the sauna spa is not being used while gas prices are so high, also couldn’t find the roof top bar. Private room was nice, window doesn’t open and curtains are very light. Fantastic kayaking tour to Uros islands. No drinking water, you have to go out and buy it.

The kindest owners who really make you feel part of the family - they are so thoughtful and nice to chat to. Breakfast was really good, and the hostel has a nice sociable but chilled atmosphere. Highly recommend! Thank you!

We had a really nice stay. Friendly Hostel a one block away from the Main Plaza. There are some more hostels in Puno, but I liked this hostel for the free buffet breakfast, Games Área (pool table) relaxed atmosphere, and very kind and helpful staff. They offer daily group kayak tours, it was very easy, fun, and beautiful. It's worth it. In Puno, it's the best option!

The hosts in the hostel were very welcoming and are willing to go out of their way to make your stay memorable. We traveled with PeruHop Bus, but the tours were very expensive. I bought them at the hostel reception for a more reasonable price. They have tours departing every day, combined with kayaking, and they were good options and beautiful. Highly recommended

Loved my stay at Koala Hostel Puno. The staff were super friendly, everything was clean, and the vibe was easygoing. I highly recommend booking the tours through the hostel as you really get to experience what Puno has to offer, especially the Peruvian side of Lake Titicaca, without it feeling rushed. The kayak experience was the highlight for me. You actually get to paddle out and visit the floating islands, and the entire experience was amazing.

Koala, iguana, and kantaya are the same place! Pre-pandemic they were separate but now all share one location, but soon should be under only one name. The half day kayaking tour was great, breakfast was plenty, and kitchen was available for cooking - though plenty of restaurants around. A quiet place, not the most sociable, but perfect for what I needed!

I visited during the rainy season, there was still plenty of people to go to dinner with and hangout with every night. The hostel is 1 block away from the main downtown road with restaurants. It's a short 20 minute walk to the dock and bus station. The hostel can organize tours for you once you arrive. I would recommend the tour to Uros and Tequile. I also took a day trip to Ilse del sol in Bolivia which I found on TripAdvisor. The staff is very nice, The hostel is also called kantaya

Hostel ist ganz in Ordnung. Common Area ist durch die bunten Wände und das weiße Licht sehr ungemütlich. Zimmer und Bad waren sauber. Tourangebote des Hostels sind praktisch.

Toll gelegene Unterkunft, Frühstück war i.O. jedoch nur von 06:30-08:30 Uhr. Leider keine Handtücher vorhanden. Bett war sehr bequem und warm.

Mir hat das Hostel sehr gepasst. Das Personal war sehr nett und hilfreich. Das Zimmer (ich hatte ein Einzelzimmer) war sauber, gute Grösse, gutes Badezimmer und hatte warmes Wasser. Der Aufenthaltsraum ist gross, aber ohne Fenster.

Nice hostel in what appears to be an old hotel. The place is clean and comfortable - just don't expect this to be a place to meet people or party.
