Argdivan Hostel

To be honest, avoid! Got charged more than what I should, like it happened to other travellers that i talked with. + the room really was smelly (like you were in public toilets), couldnt make it better with opening the window cause it was actually opening to the laundry cave and you could hear litterally everything around you.

I got sick real real sick, bedsheets were not washed, you could see dust and mould everywhere, Yes I understand it's cheap but that doesn't mean it has to be this dirty, I would prefer to pay double but stay in cleaned space. Pillows were joke, they really need to work on their cleaning.

A bar is advertised on here but they don’t actually have one. Also there’s no ac and the showers are FREEZING. There’s no security or locks on dorm doors. It’s really hot so the doors to the building stay open all night and anyone could wander in. There’s also way more staff than guests. The female employees (besides Barbara) were pretty rude. The one with long hair and tattoos was super rude to us. She seemed annoyed all the time, as if we were inconveniencing her. The others weren’...

The dorm is without windows, poor lighting and the smell is very bad. Also the staff is not very friendly. They offer a hotspring activity for 10$ and didn't give us any information. We ended up beeing tropped at an easy accessible public place (the hot springs), they told us to leave our belongings at the hostel and just left us there for 2 hours so we had to hichhike back because we had to leave earlier. When confronted the staff they were very inconsidered! Wouldn't stay there again.

Payment by card is +10%. Payment in colones (a national currency!) is +5%, which is only mentioned after checking their conversion rates prior to payment.

We booked the private apartment room for about a week, which flooded through the front door everytime it rained (it rained every day). The room was sweltering hot, had no A/C, and had a barely functioning kitchenette that was understocked. The property is tiny, and the location is a bit of a walk to get to the more interesting parts of town. Looking back, I probably would book elsewhere if I had the chance.

Beware solo female travelers and female volunteers. This hostel is run by a couple, the woman is wonderful and very nice. But in our two night stay we saw the male owner being overly touchy and flirty toward 4 different young women in the hostel, 3 of them being volunteers. Also, private suit had visible mold and smell, for the second night changed to the 10 person suit where there was a strong urine smel

Legit this was the dirtiest hostel we’ve ever stayed at. Got into the room and it looked like the sheets hadn’t been washed, makeup and dirt marks all over them. To top it off my pillow was covered in black mold. When I asked about it the staff said it was just fabric dye with the washing (it wasn’t). They also kept the same pillow case after I asked to change it. Health and safety of guests should be top priority. Being backpackers we’re not picky, but this was kinda past a line.

I loved this hostel! I met so many wonderful people and the staff were so helpful and definitely made it a great experience with the trivia/ game nights! flor and jess definitely did a great job and would 100% come back to this hostel in the future!

Jess was such an amazing bartender/quiz host! Had such a laugh. George is amazing too! Most welcoming and friendly hostel ever!

This was my first solo travel experience and it was amazing! The staff are some of the kindest people I have ever met. They were so helpful and caring. A special shout out to Jess who made game night my favorite event of the day. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. I’m sad to leave.

Absolutely fantastic stay! This hostel is the right level of social. Not a party hostel but not at all hard to make friends (my favorite kind). They have games every night, activities every day, and wonderful people all hours of the day. Flor was absolutely amazing and even taught me how to make patacones in the kitchen!! Miss you Flor and miss all the wonderful people I met here! Make sure to ask about el salto as this was a highlight and close by

I had a great stay at this hostel in La Fortuna and would highly recommend it, especially for solo travelers. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and always happy to chat, which made me feel very welcome traveling alone. They gave great recommendations for tours in La Fortuna, as well as helpful tips for my next travel destinations. @Flora (@George) The hostel was well equipped, clean, and had a really welcoming atmosphere. I felt very comfortable here and would definitely stay again!

Staying here definitely added to my experience here! They offer so many activities which makes it super helpful and the hostel itself is so homey. The kitchen is wonderful, the common spaces are fun to hangout in, the hammock and terrace was my favorite. Flor was so helpful with signing up for el canyon jurasico it was the best experience I’m so glad I did that! So friendly and kind felt like family!

We stayed at the Argdivan hostel for six nights and really enjoyed our time. There were many activities that were easy to book through the hostel. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, especially Flori who gave us many suggestions on activities to do which turned out to be the highlight of our time in La Fortuna. The hostel felt very safe and had really nice areas to be social or relax with a view of the Arenal Volcano.

El lugar muy acogedor y bonito. El personal que atiende muy amable, preocupado, son excelentes 20000/10. Las habitaciones limpias, el baño impecable. Las áreas comunes bien equipadas y full limpieza

Had a great time in Argdivan. From the beginning it felt comfortable. It is not too big, and there are many chill spots. The kitchen is big too and convenient. The beds and dorms are also excellent. Special thanks to the volunteers who made me feel even more welcome. Flore: thank you so much 🙏 she was so helpfull and kind.

I cannot explain how good of a time I had here. This obviously depends on the other guests, but it was SO social and I met so many people. I had the absolute best time here. The staff were amazing, it’s also nice that they offer tours/transportation. Restrooms are nice, beds are ok. It does suck that they charge you more when you use colones though (they convert $1 -> 490 colones) and it’d be nice if they had some games like fussball or pool, but overall, AMAZING experience.

In a great location with great workers who are super kind and willing to help you with that you need and recommend things for you to do :) especially Aron, Flor, and George. Would definitely stay again!

This is a great hostel. Super easy to meet others, I love how much excursions they offer and they’re cheaper than the tours you find online. Biggest downside was the AC, I was in a 4 person dorm no AC & the large fan was unplugged from the ceiling🥲 hands down probably best hostel I’ve stayed at though I would book the larger dorms as those have AC

A great place to stay in La Fortuna. The staff and volunteers were amazing and really helpful when we made our itinerary for the days we spend in town. Especially Flo were amazing and helped us a lot. The rooms have AC which isn’t that necessary, but a nice to have. The common rooms were very nice especially with the hostel being located on a smaller street but still close to everything. Me and my friend really enjoyed our time here and would totally recommend it to others :)
