City Backpackers Hostel

No common room like they claim to have, made it hard to make friends on the hostel. Horrible for solo travellers. Was there over Christmas and there was absolutely no place to call my loved ones either. No breakfast included. Had a musty smell everywhere.

We hebben een top tijd gehad bij City Backpackers Hostel! We zijn énorm goed geholpen, ze nemen alle tijd voor je. We hebben hier ook ons vervoer geregeld naar Mui Ne, wat echt mega top was!

No Kitchen, No check inn before 1:30, Turning AC off from 10 to 1 pm.

DON’T book with them: the tunnels tour costs 20$ and they make everyone pay saying they « make a price for us ». You can find the tour at 17$ without them. They sold me a simcard way too expensive that DOESN’T WORK. It’s absolutely not possible to think tourists are that stupid (well I guess I was ahah but you can avoid this hostel). And it’s dangerous. They also lied to me on the price of the buses to make me pay way more and take a huge difference. THIS IS NOT CORRECT.

I'm giving this hostel a 1 start review, purely because I asked to give a review. Personally, I put time and effort into writing and reading reviews, I wish for them to be transparent fair and honest, rather than "asked for reviews " it's very unprofessional practice. I don't appreciate being asked "if you enjoyed your stay , meal, trip can you please give Us a review" was asked more than once,it's not fair on others. I had ants on my bed most nights

I did not enjoy my stay here. There is no common room, not social at all, rooms don’t feel very clean, the curtains didn’t close properly and there is no air con in the rooms. I really struggled to sleep as it was so hot. Would not recommend, especially for solo travellers

Room was very small and stuffy, no windows, shower head kinda small. Staff very friendly and helpful

Let’s get into it… 1. Rooms - we booked a ‘superior private’ - it was ghastly. 2. For some reason you have to remove your shoes downstairs however, flip flops that are extremely dirty can we worn inside the elevator. This is what happens when you have rules and you don’t know how to implement them.

Great location and lovely helpful staff but actual room itself isn’t the best condition like the shower is very weak, not got a massive social area either if that’s what you want

Arriving alone in Vietnam was a little daunting but this hostel was really friendly and everyone i met was kind and polite. The reception team are very helpful and the room was as good as any hotel I have stayed in, if not, better. I even had a little balcony although I did not get to use it as I was so busy most if the time. The location is in the heart if the city but there was no noise that I could hear. Perfect.

First, the female owner was very helpful with a city map and arranging a tour. The room was nice and clean. However, I had to leave early due to security concerns. My first morning, someone tried to open the door and then quietly left. Strange but okay. The second night, someone actually tried to break in. It was terrifying and thank god the lock held after ten minutes of trying to force it open, but when I told the man on duty he didn’t care at all. Just said “well that happens”. I left A...

The girl in the reception was very helpful and kind. The guy had a bit rude attidude. The room was okayish, location good. You could get a better room with the same amount of money in a different place.

great hostel! the staff were so sweet and the location of the hostel is perfect with basically everything within walking distance.

James and An were the best receptionnists, the hostel was very clean and neat, with a great location right in the heart of district 1! I Would highly recommend to follow all the tips and recommendations that they give you, as they were the best spots in town. We were very happy about our stay.

Ms Anna, the lady who owns the place, was extremely kind and takes very good care of her place here. She helped me so much and was so nice to talk to every time I passed by. I would 1000000% recommend this place for how close it was to everything, how kind she was, how clean it was every day and for affordability. Thank you Ms Anna!!!!

Staff were great and really helpful. Our room was spacious but wasn’t the cleanest. Quite a few stains on the bed sheets and the floor made our white socks turn black. Our mattress was also really hard. There was no common area so the hostel wasn’t social if that’s what you are looking for. The only way we met people was on the Cu Chi tunnels tour which we booked directly with the hostel. Great location - overall hostel was fine for our short stay.

Really friendly staff happy to answer any questions. Our private room was perfect for what we needed it for the stay.

Mostly clean, nice staff, central location. Nothing social going on, just a place to sleep.
