Real nice when I walked in, real rude the day after. The girl I’m traveling with got a welcome drink, but I can’t? So I ask the front desk and bartender, and I’m not aloud. 2nd Mayan monkey I’ve been too, both suck. Go somewhere else😂
The stuff’s tip themselves without asking. You are not allowed to get your own beer so they can sell expensive drinks. Tulum is wet, but they have NOWHERE than one can dry their stuff. Is extremely loud until late in the night (yes I know that is a party hostel but still). Even if the the room is ready before 3 PM they charge 200 pesos if you want to get the room sooner. In conclusion the hostel is only designed to make the most amount of money without offering a cozy and hommie experience.

Booked an all female dorm and they allowed a man to stay in there. Apparently female dorms are gender neutral now. Also, the water would go out every other day for hours at a time. Very inconvenient.
Er was storing bij het pinnen van de accommodatie. Daardoor is er bij een vriend en mij beide geld afgeschreven. We moesten mailen naar het e-mail adres van Mayan Monkey en medewerker Enrike Ponce zou regelen dat we het teveel betaalde geld (€240) terug zouden krijgen. Na een maand nog geen geld terug!! @Mayan monkey graag zsm contact opnemen en op mails reageren.

STAFF THEFT. I would strongly advice against staying here. The staff at the checkout counter stole my bank card and refused to return it. I asked to see the security footage to which I was advised they did not have access to on a weekend and that I should send an email. I have now sent 3 emails to different email addresses at Mayan Monkey and have not had any response. Very very poor customer service and security.
The rooms were nice and clean however, if you are a backpacker don’t stay here. There are no utensils in the kitchen, we had to buy our own plastic knives and forks, use jars for cups and it was truly filthy. Someone also ate our food out of the fridge and the staff didn’t seem to care, I read other reviews regarding theft and the lack of care about it. Two coffees from the hostel cost $10 USD. the hostel is aesthetically very nice, shame about the very rude receptionists. The security is even worse. in addition to the fact that you can't smoke anywhere even if it's completely outdoors. at the last minute when I accidentally left my shoes inside to get them back I had to argue about it since they liked my shoes and apparently wanted to keep them for themselves. not recommended
PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE The location of this hostel is not safe. My friend was SA’d and robbed by an armed robber less than 5 mins walk away, with another friend in hospital. Just after it happened a female member of staff shouted at my friend; the three days we were there after not once was my friend checked on to ensure her wellbeing and to see if she could be offered any assistance. We had to stay an extra night due to it, they tried to move us to a mixed dorm (last thing you want after SA...
en la cocina no había tenedores ni vasos. El hostal es gigante y solo hay una mesa de cuatro para todos para las comidas. Mientras cenábamos apareció una cucaracha en la pared. En nuestra estancia se fue la luz 4 veces. Las de la limpieza muy simpáticas, dejan las habitaciones limpias pero la cocina esta sucia porque la gente que convive ahí no lo limpia. No lo recomiendo.
in the kitchen there were no forks or vases. the hostel is huge and there is only one table for four for everyone to eat. while we were having dinner a cockroach appeared on the wall. in our estancia the light went out 4 times. the cleaning people are very nice, they leave the rooms clean but the kitchen is dirty because the people who live there do not clean it. i do not recommend it.

the hostel is amazing, super clean great facilities. its like a luxury hotel. the staff was very friendly and help with recommendations. the location is a little far from the city center

Awesome hostel! We’ve been here the second time and everything is still just awesome - great dorms, awesome breakfast, free filtered water and lovely staff!
Friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are so spacious and I love the pod style beds. Nice showers and toilets too. Lovely outside area and pool. 20 min walk from the ADO bus station and a 10 min cycle to the beach. Defo worth getting the bikes which was $12 a day. Right next to a 7/11 and a big supermarket only 10 min walk away.

Too far from centre to generate a social atmosphere in the evening but spotless rooms
Only stayed one night, but loved it! Bed was comfortable, towel included, there is a laundry room in the hostel, they rent out bikes and they have lots of activities. Would describe the hostel as sosial, they arrange parties but the music is not too loud. And if your not in a party mood you can join the yoga in the morning! Staff was wonderful and super helpful! Would recommend.
Amazing hostel, looks like a resort and very clean ! Depends on the moment if the hostel is full or not but it was easy to socialize while I was there. Thank you !
Wouldn't recommend staying here. Strange crowd, careless staff and no hostel/traveler vibe at all. Feels like a bad all inclusive resort

Awesome hosting, the crew is very helpful and fun to just interact with them, helped us with everything and gave good advices. Recommend! A Classy and fun hostel.
Clean, safe, good location balancing the beach/ruins side with access to the main bars and food spots in town. Bit of a walk from the ADO stop (or an overpriced Taxi) but worth it. Pool area is great, super social with areas to relax if needed. Staff were great and helped with all bookings etc.
Great hostel! Clean dorms and really nice staff. Free Yoga or Salsa classes and other events. Would love to stay there again.
Great hostel. Better than photos. Dorms are amazing, social area is great with a huge pool and sun lounges. Private area for guests to chill with full kitchen. 7/11 downstairs. Lots of activities everyday. Amazing staff, Kevin and Salvador were amazing and very helpful. Recommend!
