Wouldn’t recommend staying in the resorts on Yasawa. It’s an expensive prison. Can’t do anything, constantly asked what you’re doing and can’t walk more than 100m without paying. It’s very sad to see the exploitation of cheap labour because the Fijian locals are so nice but it’s painfully clear the resort isn’t doing enough to help, although they seem so keen and proud to tell you they are. Much better places to stay where the integration is better. Food is good but it’s very e...
Be aware of compulsory meal plans!!!!! Not really a hostel when you have to pay a crazy amount more to eat every day, not really for backpackers on a budget!! The staff were friendly and helped me leave on the same day I arrived without having to pay anything, but a shame that there is no backpackers kitchen with the dorm room! Not much consideration for people wanting to see the Yasawas on a budget!! If this is what you’re looking for, I’d recommend homestays.
Really gorgeous resort! Staff were great and loads of activities to do. Only downside was the food - we didn’t know until we arrived that there was a compulsory food package, so even though the dorm was cheap (yet nice), the daily food package cost more than the dorm! It was for breakfast, lunch & dinner and you couldn’t opt out even if you didn’t eat every time - would’ve been ideal if they offered a half-board package! Regardless of this was still a really nice stay… thanks octopus!!
Volleyball with staff was my absolute favourite ! The staff (especially at the dive shop) were always so chatty and up for a laugh — shoutout John for making me dance 👏🏻
Great Resort with two Restaurants and really friendly staff!!!
We had a lovely one night stay at Octopus. The staff were ready to greet us and showed us around the beautiful site. We stayed in one of the bungalows which was lovely. Met some great fellow travellers. Would definitely recommend!
Octopus resort has amazing staff. On top of the wonderful Fijian hospitality they get fully invested in guest entertainment like the volleyball night, quiz night & games night. The beach is lovely & the pool facilities good to. Food was wonderful. Dorm room & showers were fine and offered a good night's sleep. Mountain hike is great but very strenuous. Snorkeling in the reef is fantastic. Only down side was not being able to go in the sea for my first 3 days due to being "too rough"
Went to octopus and Manta. If beaching and lying by the pool is what you’re after good choice, less if snorkelling and diving is what you’re after, Barefoot Manta is better. Octopus feels more resorty so more families and honeymoon couples. The hike of the mountain is worth the effort. Only one beach with big waves. Snorkelling isn’t as great as Manta. No shark dive possibility. Meli the manager was great, the rest of the stuff ok. Food was by far better but also very pricey.
Great facilities, food was amazing but more expensive than other places around the Yasawas. Menu to choose from for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Lots of free activities, and a dive shop onsite. AC dorms, with a lockable box for each bed.
Amazing place! Thing to keep in mind...there is a mandatory mealplan (179 FJD pppn.), no mealplan is no food (you can't bring you own food). You have to pay this after your stay at the office and if you skip a meal you still pay the full price. We were aware of the mealplan, but not the price (we spoke to more guests who had the same). Sadly not really in our budget. We had a wonderful time overall but good to keep in mind!

An absolutely phenomenal experience - cannot recommend this enough! We felt looked after, safe, welcomed and enjoyed delicious food and amazing activities! Thank you!
Great Resort with two Restaurants and really friendly staff!!!
Amazing staff who created a really fun environment!
Loved this hostel! Facilities are excellent and the hostel is lovely. Staff are super friendly and there are a mix of activities each day so always something to do. I’d definitely recommend staying here. Food is really tasty and multiple courses at dinner.

Sehr empfehlenswert! Es war wirklich ein traumhafter Urlaub. Essen war auch super, sehr abwechslungsreich - muss aber dazugebucht werden, ist also nicht im Preis inbegriffen.
Essen was also great, very varied - but must be dazugebucht, also is not included in the price.
Octopus Resort : dortoirs mixtes propres avec casiers, lits confortables (prises, moustiquaire, clim). Staff bienveillant, repas communs (meal plan obligatoire, délicieux et copieux, options végé). Nombreuses activités : snorkelling gratuit, randos, ateliers, sorties bateau. Wifi gratuit et logistique inter-îles facile. Un petit coin de paradis où l’on peut autant se détendre que s’activer : parfait !
Octopus Resort : clean mixed dormitories with lockers, comfortable beds (prises, mosquito net, clim). kind staff, common meals (mandatory meal plan, delicious and copious, options finé). numerous activities : free snorkeling, randos, workshops, boat trips. free wifi and easy inter-island logistics. a little corner of paradise where one can both relax and be active: perfect !
Beautiful place, amazing staff, the food is unreal, always something to do with endless activities and a great bar. 10/10 wish I could live there
Amazing dinner and the snorkeling at the beach is great!
Amazing stay at Octopus resort. I can’t recommend this place enough, the dorm is clean, the aircon is great, bathrooms and all facilities were clean and everything was comfortable. The pool area was perfect for relaxing (unable to snorkel bc of the weather while I was there) and the sun loungers were really comfortable. The food was the best I had while in the Yasawas, a bit pricier than other places but definitely worth extra. On to the staff, they were so amazing and friendly and welcoming!

I loved my stay here and wish I would have booked longer! The rooms are so clean and have AC, bathroom facilities are great! I recommend booking the 7 person dorm if you can as its no bunk beds! The food is very posh and I've never had a sorbet palet cleanser between a starter and a main before - fancy :-) they have a social table for solo travelers and I made new friends every night! I will stay at this place again! Very sociable but not party etc most people in bed by 10pm - loved it!
Perfekter Aufenthalt.
The meal package is a bit expensive but you also get really good food offered compared to other resorts. there are many options for program and the beach is a dream. plant this as your last stop as a proper treat and crown your trip with a finish!
Pros : best food on Yasawas for me - even better than Blue Lagoon. The chef is amazing. The location, the long chairs and the sun beds everywhere. Lots of activities. Great swimming pool. Cons : too much of a honeymoon vibe, wished a little more lively/party atmosphere at night especially for solo travellers. But it’s the same on pretty much the whole Yasawa archipelago.
Overall, Octopus resort is a beautiful resort. It facilitates to backpackers, families and couples. Mali, the manager, greets you with a big smile and always checks in to make sure you're enjoying your stay and have what you need. I did not give this place a 10 for two reasons; you cannot hike & explore the island unless with a staff member/local, therefore I felt very confined to the beach & resort area. Secondly, the dive shop which houses many activities is only open from 9am-5pm.

Nice place to celebrate new years eve.
We had a great stay. The food was good from breakfast to dinner. We have a choice and it's good. There were entertainment in the evening. The resort remains very relaxing, many activities are offered. The dormitories are very clean.
