Stayed here a few times, it’s social, but manager(Alex)was disappointing.He ignored me when I saw him at an event after my stays,even when I called his name which felt rude & unprofessional.I forgot an item that was brought to reception by a volunteer so I could pick it up later but he couldn’t locate it or help which shows a lack of organisation & care.There was no TV at first but one had been installed by my last stay:an odd upgrade given the lack of basic features like curtains.Dont recom...
When you get to the hostel the security is so good that you can’t find the entrance of the hostel. There are no signs outside and it’s locked off by a big iron door. This directly gave us the impression that something was off. Inside there’s no reception and there is just a lady sitting on a bench with a laptop and a blanket over her legs. The rooms are filthy, hairs on the floor and mold on the beds. The bathrooms were small and had mold. The toilets couldn’t flush properly and no ambia...

- The rooms are not clean, the kitchen is very dirty. But what I really didn’t like is that I stayed one more night and was supposed to be in a down bed but the staff told me I would get upper bed because I paid a cheaper price than other tourists. Plus when I paid by card the staff choose to convert the bill into euros (didn’t let me choose) which costs me 11€ more and didn’t do anything about it. Very disappointing and a bit rude.
When I arrived the hostel bed was dusty from the sides, bathroom was dirty and toilet clogged. There was only one socket in the room and no curtains. After checking in and seeing the place I booked an other hostel and left. Very bad experience… I didn’t ask for money back since I wanted to leave..

+ Bon emplacement, proche du métro qui donne accès d’un côté à Copacabana et de l’autre au Centro
- Nous avons pris la chambre double privée. Elle était extrêmement humide, très petite avec aucun rangement. Juste une chaise et une petite étagère. Rien pour accrocher les serviettes et pour mettre les affaires. La salle de bain n’était pas très propre, l’eau de la douche était froide. Nous étions proche des parties communes où le personnel mettait de la musique assez fort de tôt le matin à tard dans la nuit. La cuisine n’était pas très propre, la vaisselle en plastique abîmée.
The kitchen was not working good, stuffs were stolen in our room (Including Airpods, clothes..) The personal was aware and did nothing. The room was good except the fact that all lockers were broken and no curtains. And excepted the manager, all the personal was not welcoming.

- No quarto em que fiquei (9), sofri com o calor, pois o ar não gelava. Teve dias que faltou água, as vezes o chuveiro nao esquentava. E alguns hóspedes deixavam o quarto uma zona. Mas ai a culpa já não é do hostel kkkk

this hostel is great! the staff is very helpful, special mention to Alex and David, who let me check in early after my long overnight flight. There is a whatsapp group where the staff posts activities organised by the hostel or activities happening in Rio. The ambiance is very fun!
Rio is a magical place and this hostel is the best option to get everywhere as it is very well connected and in one of the best neighborhoods. However, the best of the hostel is its staff. They were always very helpful and friendly, letting us check in earlier, leaving our baggage’s… Especially the manager Alexandre was always there if we needed something. From recommending us places to go, to helping us book for local events. He’s always available and happy to help with all types of quest...

Great stay at Opa! Staff were incredibly friendly, with a great social atmosphere and daily suggestions for activities/events given by the manager Alex and the staff/volunteers. Botafogo is a brilliant place to stay in Rio for a mix of local/tourism/party/culture. Huge thanks to the Opa team for making our stay so great - highly recommend!
Very sociable hostel, very easy to meet people as a solo traveler, one of the best I've ever stayed at! The staff were super helpful and friendly!!! There was always something going on that you could join in. The facilities were great with loads of outdoor areas. The location was perfect, Botafogo is the best neighborhood and it was very close to the metro!!! Alex was the bestt, thank you for everything!!! I'll be back for sure!

+ Great stay at Opa hostel- the hostel is kept super clean, well equipped kitchen, social vibe and amazing staff :) the neighbourhood is great as well, Botafogo is super safe with great bars, restaurants and amenities all nearby.
- If the bed could have curtains for more privacy.
O melhor hostel de Botafogo! Ambiente super acolhedor, amigável, respeitoso e tudo sempre limpinho. A equipe é extremamente atenciosa e prestativa, faz a gente se sentir em casa de verdade. Ao mesmo tempo, é um lugar perfeito pra conhecer e curtir o Rio, com vários rolês organizados por essa equipe maravilhosa. Voltarei com certeza, e recomendo muito o Opa Hostel!
Booked 4 nights here, made the mistake of trying another hostel, but quickly came back to stay another 10 days. Perfect for solo travelers: weekly activities & common areas indoors and outdoors make it easy to meet people or enjoy quiet time. Working remotely, the WiFi was excellent. But came back for the vibes and the people; staff (Ale, Sam, Pam), volunteers (Queen Mimi deserves her crown) and other guests quickly became friends. You’ll find everything you need here except for curtains!
if you wanna stay in a safe and not so hectic neighbourhood, this hostel is a good choice. rooms are clean and the staff is welcoming. there's also opportunities for some fun activities during day and nighttime.

Absolutely loved Opa, came back three times! The staff were so fun, friendly, and helpful (epically Alex!), showers were amazing, and the bar had super cheap caiprinhas and was always really good vibes. Rooms big, clean and comfy and being so close to so many amazing bars in botofogo was also really handy and definitely worth staying to experience botafogo. 10/10 :))
+ The vibe is amazing, the hostel is super cute and functional and the staff is super super friendly and supportive ❤️ There are many places to chill and smoke and interact with the other guests and make new friends! We went to parties together and had so much fun with all the people from the hostel🥳
- on the upper beds you can’t sit as the roof is too close, the people living in the hostel weren’t so clean and i think the toilets were cleaned only once a day so taking a shower in the night wasn’t so good with all the hair left by the other girls but apart from that it was amazing
+ L’atmosphère au sein de cet endroit est indescriptible, on se sent vraiment comme à la maison, le personnel est au soin, le manager Alex est super sympathique et bienveillant, il y a toujours de nouveaux arrivants et l’ambiance respectueuse et chaleureuse de l’hostel permet de créer de vrais liens amicaux. Je recommande cet endroit à 100% j’ai tellement aimé que j’ai extend une 2e fois pour un total de 2 semaines sur place et ai demandé à faire mon volontariat dans cet endroit.
- La Clim dans la chambre 1 est vraiment trop froide, mais mis à part ça, aucun problème.
