Saraguate eco hostel

This property is nowhere near the city of Flores, we had to get a 35 minute taxi from the city of Flores. The host told us this would be 150Q split amongst 4 when in fact we were charged 200Q, this happened again on departure when we were charged 50Q after he told us it would be 25Q. We booked the private room, it had no glass in the windows, door wouldn’t lock and there was no hot water in the shower. Disappointed as other reviews were great!

Fijne atmosfeer en zeer behulpzaam personeel. Helpt direct met regelen van vervoer etc. Dit is ook wel nodig, aangezien de plek redelijk afgelegen is (45min vanaf Flores). Hierdoor voelden wij ons redelijk afhankelijk en lichtelijk opgesloten. Het hostel ligt aan het meer, maar er is niet echt een plek om makkelijk aan het meer te chillen.

Loved this hostel!! Such an awesome vibe. Very social with family dinners (a very good price too) and the staff are super friendly and helpful. It feels like you’re immersed in the jungle and the lake is beautiful and clear to swim in. We had transportation issues both getting there and leaving so allow yourself some buffer time. However the manager was super helpful and helped us in getting where we were going in both situations.

I enjoyed my stay at this hostel! The meals are delicious and the family and staff are so kind and helpful. You will see monkeys and all types of animals. Highly recommend the tour of Tikal set up through the hostel.

Really nice staff and at night the vibe is so cozy and it feels like you‘re all a family bc everyone gets to know eachother. The dinner they offer for 60Q is sooo good. If you‘re on a budget make sure you get some groceries in the city of Flores.

Iván, Patricia, and Princesa were wonderful hosts, the hostel is beautiful, the bedrooms and beds big and spacious, the bathrooms clean, and the vibe very friendly. Iván was really helpful in organising all transportation to wherever you want to go. (If you go to Tikal I would recommend a tour with Nixon! He was a great guide). The food was delicious, for 50Q you can get a homemade dinner, for 20/30Q you can have breakfast, or you can pay 20Q to use the kitchen to make your own food.

Hermoso lugar con buena vibra y ubicacion perfecta. Hay instrumentos de musica y comida muy rica. Perfecto para una escapada a la tranquilidad

Very nice hostel! Ivan is very cool and helpful. The hostel dorms are very unique and pleasant, and there's access to the lake+you can kayak. Food is also served in the hostel

I had a very nice, relaxing time at Saragüate. It was super nice to see some of the towns along Lago Petén on the way to the hostel, and once I was there it was a nice place to chill and read on the hammocks, or out on their dock. A huge highlight is the home cooked meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. One of the nicest hostels I’ve ever stayed at! 😍 The location is beautiful , away from all the hustle and bustle, surrounded by nature and right by the water. The atmosphere is very calm and relaxed, and the (delicious!) family dinners make it feel really cozy and are a great way to easily meet other people. Patsy e Ivan, mamma e figlio, ti accolgono come a casa. Sono arrivata come ospite e poi ho deciso di rimanere due settimane a fare volontariato qui. Sono stata da Dio. Una pace e una tranquillità di cui avevo davvero bisogno dopo tanto viaggiare. Qui ci si gode la natura, gli animali, il lago, il cibo veramente ottimo e una VERA atmosfera locale. Ci si arriva facilmente con un bus da Flores a 18 quetzales. Ivan risponde velocissimo a qualsiasi richiesta su whatsapp. Se volete provare il piacere...

el mejor lugar para descansar con la vista mas hermosa hacia el lago, casa tranquila hermosa y un ambiente agradable. Patsy e Ivan hacen que el lugar sea perfecto son sus atenciones y comida deliciosa. pronto volveremos

I stayed 3 nights at Ivan’s place. Firstly: after we missed the last colectivo bus he just took us in his private car to the place. This guy is very kind, chilled and helpful. The whole place gives you a vibe in the sense of taking a break from busy, polluted cities, party hostels or travel days. I can only say wonderful things about this place, it’s serene and far from everything which is exactly what i was looking for. Waking up to howler monkeys and being in nature by the lake is a much better way to spend time in Peten than on Flores island. Loveliest dog and a lot of cats, and the decoration and design is 10/10!! Getting here can be a bit complex but nothing that Ivan will not help with getting you here with ease. We didn’t stay in the hostel, but booked the Tikal tour via the Saraguate Eco hostel and would 100% recommend! We did came after the tour to the hostel as we were invited for their family dinner and it was such great and kind vibes. We wish we stayed here instead of also Amigos. We had the best experience doing a guided tour of Tikal with Nixon. Nice Hostel in Flores! Love the Vibe, super nice hosts (Ivan and Petzy)! You can get breakfast, lunch and dinner - amazing food! Super friendly dog, cats and the also got monkeys there! Saragüate is a little piece of paradise just outside the chaos of Isla Flores! A great place to relax amongst the trees and enjoy swimming in the lake. Ivan and his family are so lovely, and Ivan was even kind enough to organise for someone to bring my glasses to Antigua when I left them behind. Thank you Ivan!!

Iván and Patsy run a marvelous operation. The place immediately feels like home. Their volunteer Kiki is also so friendly and helpful. I could have easily stayed for a month but as always time is a limiting factor. The kitchen had everything and more. It is probably the most well equipped kitchen I’ve had on my Central American travels. If you go to flores and only do one thing....even before you think about Yaxha, Tikal, crater Azul etc book your stay with Ivan and his mum at their fabulous spot on the other side of the lake...you will Never find a more helpful friendly and very affordable spot in the rest of the Guatamala. Christmas here 2as an absolute joy...Enjoy your stay , if you miss it you missed out Trust me.

Ein Ort, der hält, was er verspricht und mehr. Großartige Gastfreundschaft, professionelle Hilfe bei Buchung von Touren und Shuttles, unfassbar gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. 5 Sterne für die hübsche Anrichtung des leckeren Essens. Keine Angst, es ist zwar außerhalb, aber es gibt einen Localbus und Ivan ist gut vernetzt mit Tuktikfahreren , die auch morgens ums 5 kommen.
