Hongdae Birdsnest Hostel

I found a bed bug on the first night and did not complete my stay. The lockers were smaller than expected and did not hold a whole bag, might not fit some large laptops. The volunteer staff were nice and I was able to get a refund for the nights I didn't stay, but that felt like the bare minimum.

the only plus is the location, which is great, close to the main street in hongdae, but besides that its not worth it. i know its cheap and you get what you paid for but really i would recommend to pay a bit more and get a proper rest. Ac during the day is not working and rooms get too hot, stuff randomly getting into the rooms in the morning without knocking and turning on the light, that was so weird especially if you are a girl.. and there is not enough showers. not worth it

BED BUGS! Do not stay here! I stayed here for one night and now my legs are covered in bites. The property is old and falling to pieces. There are two bathrooms for 50+ guests to share, the day I was there the owner wouldn’t let anybody shower for the whole day and he wouldn’t give me a reason. Owner is an absolute ****, incredibly rude and always hanging around. It’s not a surprise that this hostel has such a low rating, it shook be even lower! Cough up the extra €10 and stay somewhere ...

Had my watch stolen and the owner didn't care whatsoever, very rude guy! If you want a kind owner that cares about the safety of their customers this is not the place for you!

The woman who checked me in didn't seem friendly. The door was not locked, even though I arrived at around midnight. The bed was so uncomfortable. The mattress was way too hard, and the pillow was so small and understuffed that I had to fold it in half to get any neck support. I was only there one night, so I don't know what the atmosphere was like. But I'm glad I was only there one night. A second night sleeping on that mattress would have left me extremely sleep deprived.

DO NOT GO THERE I have been traveling around the world for over a year now and I have never seen a hostel that gross. I fest dirtier after taking my shower than before. The water smells like p**s and tr**h. The beds are not clean and it smelled horrible. I got unlucky as the woman above me ate in her bed and her Tupperware fell in my bed, spreading sauce on my bed. I preferred to go out and not sleep at all in this hostel. The staff was nice and the location was good though… I am sorry...

The hostel worker was drunk, clearly just woken up, when I arrived and kept asking me for money even though I wasn’t checking in until later. She then told me the bathroom was broken so I couldn’t use it, then told me that I could use it but I needed to pay her. She kept asking me if I had cash, saying unless I paid then (4hrs before check out) that I may not have a room saved for me. There seemed to be no doors on the hostel rooms. I left without staying here and would not recommend anyone

Its dirty and old , everything is falling apart. Not very safe for female travelers.

Estuve 4 días y ningún día limpiaron el lavamanos, el mismo pelo del primer día seguía ahí el último. La pared de mi cama tenía telarañas y manchas de no sé qué. La chica que lo regenta no da buena energía, todo el rato diciendo que no hicieras esto o hicieras aquello. Por 3 euros más la noche tienes mejores hosteles, no intentes ahorrartelo.

Cute little place, nice people, great location, but very loud because you can hear everything through the doors and in the hallway.

Needs some renovation but it’s pretty cheap compared to other hostels so you’re getting what you paid for. The whole place is super clean though I even checked the whole mattress which was spotless.

Good hostel, central location.

Walkable distance from Hongdae area. Stinky second floor (urine smell???) and the staff wouldn’t do anything to get rid of the smell. Facilities barely decent but still quite dirty. There was absolutely not ventilation in the rooms or whatsoever. Towel provided and heating floor.

Party time. If you’re looking for a place to stay and go out and party in Hongdae. This is it 🔥

Overall, a really great place to stay. The location is superb as it’s close to major rail and buses and also close to amenities and attractions. It’s on a quiet street so there’s no traffic (people and cars alike) to keep you up at night. It has most of the things you need. It’s a bit tight for space but I didn’t mind that.

I just stayed here for one night, but I would love to stay here my next trip to Korea, everything was really nice

Pretty average stay. Kinda dirty in the bathroom and poor ventilation, but not going to kill you. Lots of rules, which are understandable to ensure people are respectful. Not a very social place but would be good for those who want something more peaceful.

Fabulous hostel, friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. Will definitely stay here again if I return :-)

Thin sheets, people loud late, vomited on the floor, black mold in the shower rooms, ventelation fans clogged with dust. It is the cheapest hostel in the area, but it’s really not worth the trouble.

The hostel was pretty good, as much as you'd expect from a hostel. Problem is, due to a mistake (either mine or the systems') I booked one night instead of two. when I arrived in the evening the owner was very rude and kicked me out while I was charging my low battery phone. The people here were nice, and I'm pretty sure of the mistake hadn't happened it would have been very pleasant, but being kicked out at 10 pm with no place to sleep really left a bitter taste in my mouth

The location is great and the staff are friendly. The hostel itself needs work; plumbing issues, bedbugs, and a constant unsettling smell. The vibes at this hostel are eerie, i would not recommend it for solo travellers/those wanting to socialise.

다음 서울 방문때에도 여기를 꼭 방문할 예정입니다. 정감이 가는 호스텔이고 리셉션 직원분들도 친절하시고 홍대 근처라 핫플도 많아서 좋아요.

It was alright. The owner was very friendly, but the property could use some work, however. They seem to rely on unpaid volunteer guests a bit too much for things, who aren’t exactly in the best position to help with things at all hours. The rooms were clean enough but the bathrooms could be cleaner and better-maintained, and the downstairs bathroom was in rough shape, with a water leak coming from the ceiling and a fair bit of mold.
