Singer109 - Backpacker Apartment Hostel

Bed bugs and disorganised staff! I booked for 3 nights. Woke up on my 2nd morning with approx 10 BED BUG BITES on my arms and legs. I raised this with staff. They had my sheets changed and mattress disinfected, with the only available compensation a free breakfast for the next day. Rooms were very hot and stuffy because the windows were locked and not permitted to be opened. A sign said it was due to neighbours complaints about noise. I also paid for late check-out (13:00). Very disorganised cleaning staff. I had 3 different staff come into the room on 3 different occasions between 10:45 and 12:00. Each time I had to tell them to leave as I had paid for late check-out.

BETTWANZEN Alarm!! Wenn ich könnte würde ich Minussterne vergeben. In unserem Zimmer befanden sich Bettwanzen, welches wir gesehen haben bevor wir schlafen gegangen sind. Es war bereits nach 12 Uhr Mitternacht und wir sind nach unten gegangen. Unten haben wir kaum Hilfe erhalten. Zwei Personen konnten in ein anderes Zimmer verlegt werden und für uns gab es keine weiteren freien Betten. Uns wurde keine Lösung angeboten. Stattdessen mussten wir selber nach einer Notlösung kümmern und um 1 Uhr morgens nach einer Unterkunft suchen. Natürlich mussten wir alles selber bezahlen. Als wir am nächsten Tag über E-Mail kommuniziert hatten wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass wir das Geld für das neue Hostel etc. bezahlt bekommen. Haben wir nicht. Ich rufe seit einem Monat mehrmals an und jedes Mal wird mir gesagt, dass der Chef nicht da sei und jedes Mal wird mir gesagt, dass meine Nachricht weitergeleitet wird. Wir haben weder einen Rückruf bekommen und noch eine Antwort. Vielleicht bekommen wir ja so endlich mal eine Antwort. Wir warten immer noch auf die Rückzahlung für das neue Hostel und die Reinigung unserer Jacken! Im Zimmer befanden sich zwei weitere Personen, die zu dem Zeitpunkt, wo wir die Bettwanze gesehen haben und es unten angesprochen haben nicht da waren. Ich bin mir sehr sicher, dass denen nicht gesagt wurde, dass in dem Zimmer ein Bettwanzenbefall ist.

Upon checking in I accidentally dropped my water flask and spilled water in the lobby. There wasn’t anything to wipe it up with so my friend patiently waited for the receptionist to finish with guests then asked if she could get some paper towels or a mop to wipe it up and the receptionist wasn’t happy about it. It’s like it was a huge inconvenience that I wanted to clean up the water. He handed her a mop after sighing and I cleaned it up. Wasn’t that serious. Our first night there I got woken up at 2 in the morning getting eating by bed bugs. They were on my pillow and all over the bed. I am a frequent solo travel and this has never happened. I shook out the sheets when I had first arrived and there wasn’t anything nothing but they sure did make an appearance when the lights were off. I woke up my friend who was bunking below me and they were on her bed too. Disgusting, they were huge! I went down to the lobby and asked what I could do, the receptionist (who wasn’t shocked at all) gave me trash bags to put all our stuff in so we wouldn’t spread the bugs to the other rooms. We got a new room but I was afraid to sleep because it seems like bedbugs was a normal problem in this hostel. The receptionist was nice enough to wash the clothes we had been wearing on the bed but when we got them the next morning our white clothes were all dyed pink. We had left the new room that morning to go out and explore. When we came back to that room there were other guests in our beds. I had put paper in the slots on the beds to show that the beds were taken but maintenance must have taken them out so someone else took our beds. I went down to tell the receptionist about what was happening and when I mentioned that they had switched our rooms at 2 in the morning because of the bed bugs he told me to keep it down 😂 afraid that the guests behind me would hear. Another receptionist told me that other guests bring them and they can’t do anything about it.

BITES IN BERLIN, BED BUGS don’t stay here! Booked at Singer for a week, had to cut it short as the room was infested with bed bugs, checked out early. Returned home went to the dermatologist, contacted them with attached photos. When asked if a pest control service had taken care of the situation no proof was given, total run around!
