Kabannas Newcastle

I am person live in work Newcastle,my work CV, and experience in top hotels and restaurants private club around world, because that ,not hostel management,I been staying in Newcastle for this week the service and management is so bad also they employ is very bad no training ,no manor so bad you don't talk about comparing with prison,

My card and watch was stolen by roommates while i was sleeping. Terrible experience.

Positives and negatives: -friendly staff -good location - kind of hard to find as there's no sign in front showing that's the kanannas hostel -my booking was €78 but they charged me £78 (€88) unable to convert it on the system -no ventilation in room, it became very stuffy soon -no ventilation at all in the bathroom -windown wouldn't remain open -very noisy (noise from outside, from other rooms, room + bathroom doors screeching) -clean sheets, room not very clean -uncomfortable b...

Housed in a fire hazard dorm in the basement with zero windows, boiling hot from the AC exhaust blowing out of a potable air conditioner in the kitchen, with music blaring from the empty nightclub above. The worst hostel in Europe. Pictures on hostelworld clearly photoshopped in nonexistent windows.

Both showers for the 14-bed room were broken - the door lock on one and the other's showerhead mount. The entire bathroom looked and smelled unclean. The bedroom was hot and humid upon arrival, significantly more than the outdoor conditions, despite the room being at half capacity. The 14-bed room was in the basement, perhaps other rooms offer a better experience. Of the 7 of us, 2 were older men snoring very loudly- of course not Kabannas fault. The other aspects of the stay were satisfactory.

The hostel itself wasn't horrible, but I have never had a worse rommate experience in any hostel I've stayed in. From a roomate coming in screaming and drunk at 3 am, then falling asleep naked on a bed that wasn't his, or waking up to a different roommate rooting through my stuff. I recognize this is not the properties fault, and I don't know if I just got unlucky or this location attracts a certain personality, but either way I will not be staying here again

Newcastle Upon Tynne is a bit of a s**thole of a city and this hostel kind of reflects that. The common area is so badly designed and there’s this stupid rule during happy hour where you can buy two cocktails for a discounted price but only if they’re the same kind of cocktail or something stupid like that. Anyway, I made the mistake of booking a room with the largest amount of beds in order to save money. It turned out to be a mistake because that made interacting with others very awkward

Staff was lovely. Beds uncomfortable with no curtains. No kitchen for guests which is insane, though staff is nice enough to microwave your food for you if you need it.

The hostel is very central. The staff is friendly and helpful. The room was quite small. My suitcase didn’t fit into the locker under the bed. The beds are old and shaky. The window can be opened only a tiny bit. So no fresh air can come inside and it’s warm all the time especially when someone took a shower. I couldn’t sleep that well at night because it was always so warm. The bathroom is small as well and has no window.

Schmutzige und zu kleine Räume mit zu vielen Betten, Bad/Dusche sehr schnell feucht und nicht möglich zu lüften, daher stinkend, insgesamt eher ungemütlich und lieblos; eher für Durchreise geeignet - würd nicht empfehlen, dort zu bleiben.

Everything was great.

Was only stopping in Newcastle for an impromptu 1 night and really glad we found this place. Much better than staying in a soulless budget hotel in a similar area. Staff incredibly helpful and the double room was huge for what we needed. Took our bags in before check in too so we could explore town a bit. Will stay here again.

Wonderful stay here, Brandon at reception was super helpful and made me feel so welcome - will definitely be back!

Good hostel nice staff good location

Went on a week night so it wasn't very busy in the communal areas but honestly we were only there to sleep so that wasn't much of an issue. Everything else was everything we needed

As soon as I arrived, I met the best staff at the reception. He guided me to check in. There is a room service every morning. My bed and dome was absolutely cleaned and fresh. I didn’t care about cooking as they don’t have that facility. But the staff guided me to the best restaurants and cafes in the town. So polite staff. I met absolutely fantastic people in Kabbanas. There is a coffee vending machine at the reception for free. That was another plus point. Overall I will give 🌟🌟🌟�...

Ok to stay for one night, but if you are solo traveling, I wouldn’t recommend staying any longer than that. Didn’t have much of a social atmosphere and the rooms never felt super clean.

Good place!

I use place to get peace from neighbours . At night there was still harassment of everyday and I hate her outside do I told security guard. Room was lovely they had put fan heater because radiator didn't work and room was still warm . Bed was clean shower hot I got to wash my clothes in machine there's only one though. Coffee near entrance it's complimentary. Can hang clothes shoes up on rack . Curtains are thick enough to cut light from outside out which I and pilots need.

Comfortable beds and not far from the city centre. Negatives are that there is no kitchen, no space to chill out besides the bar area. no additional facilities like toilets on dorm levels.

Great stay for NYE - Couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Good location, lovely pizza in the bar and comfy bed. I will be booking here when I’m next in Newcastle

I had a great stay here! The staff were so friendly and helpful and went above and beyond. I was recommended Kabannas by a friend, and I'm so glad she did - I'll be recommending it to many more!

couldn't sleep as i had to deal with two noisy occupants in my room (one was snoring like a wild animal and the other was shouting at him to shut up and kept getting up because of him). staff were fine and it was in a decent location but if i come to Newcastle again, I'll either find a different hostel or fork more out for a private room.
