Vang Vieng Rock Backpackers Rooftop Hostel

Michael is a fantastic host very kind very gracious. My room itself was ok but I did get bed bugs and the rooms are susceptible to other insects. I found the excursions that were offered by the hostel not as organised as I'd hoped but it's alot easier then trying to navigate the roads in the local area. if your traveling by van to other places in Laos be very careful as I had money stolen from my wallet whilst transiting to a new place (unsure of who it was just to clarify but just an fyi)

We have been bitten by bed bugs in this hostel

Unfortunately there were bed bugs in the rooms and we had to move out before we stayed there. The manager Michael was very nice about the situation, we don’t believe he knew about the bugs and understood and refunded us. I hope they have taken it seriously and have treated the rooms!

We booked to stay here for 4 nights but unfortunately did not even stay for 1 as we noticed an infestation of bed bugs over both mine and my friend’s bunk beds in the dorm. Owner Michael was very friendly and kind and did offer for us to move to a private room, however we felt that we would feel more comfortable if we moved elsewhere.

Pros: The staff was nice, toilets were clean, air condition worked, the location was good, it was not noisy to sleep, there was small breakfast included. Cons: The room was not very clean and the mattres looked like it had bed bug marks. After all seems like there were not. In the showers there were no shelves where to put your stuff while you are shovering. It was very cold at night to sleep. The hostel could've been cleaned better. Everything they sell from soft drinks to tours are way more expensive as in the street.
