They woke me up at 4am to move the car in the parking lot, lied about the reason and couldn’t tell me earlier to park somewhere else. Offered a free breakfast and then retracted it in the morning. Also the lock on my door was broken, the manager blamed it on me and gave a lecture on how to use it properly. Later the repairman had to replace the lock and told me it’s a common issue as the hostel uses the wrong types of locks for front doors. Breakfast was cold and took 45 min to arrive.
The 8 bedroom dorm was really bad. The bathroom had flies, there was fungus all over the bathroom mirror, the sofa in room was visibly broken and still was kept in the room.
Not a place for solo travellers.
hostel is clean but far away from everything its hard to reach and if you dont have transportation your kind of stuck there. for food there is only the restaurant at the hostel and the food options are not that great and heavily overpriced. also if you need transportation then the hostel overcharge you big time. for me it felt like they want to make as much money of you as possible. also when you ask the staff for help they dont are very helpful
WARNING - This hostel is a 40 minute drive from Munnar. It is an old resort that was repurposed to a hostel so the rooms are big but you need to be aware of a few things. Restaurant is bad. Food choices are few, quality is low to average and prices are high. No other restaurants in the area mean you are stuck eating here. They don’t rent motorbikes so you can’t drive to town yourself. Tuk tuk mafia keep prices sky high. 1000 to go to Munnar. Avoid this hostel unless you have your own trans...
weird smell in the dorm. wouldn't book the activities through the hostel, cheaper to book it directly by yourself. besides the morningwalk to the waterfall, this was very nice. no atmosphere in the hostel, would not recommend if you're a solo traveller and if you're in a group you'll find better locations anyway. restaurant opens at 9am which is late if you want to have a cafe or something to eat and it's overprized.
It was a bad experience. it is so far away that you can only eat there and the restaurant service was extremely tedious and complicated, there were many employees but no one knew how to solve the problems, my reservation was cancelled... the place is nice and the rooms are great but the service is VERY I do not recommend it
Overall we had a disappointing stay. The hostel claims to be in Munnar, however this is inaccurate. The hostel is over an hour drive from Munnar, and we had to pay extra to tour companies for excursions based in and around Munnar given the increased distance for pick up and drop off. The food was okay, but overpriced in comparison to other establishments in the wider area. The loud music during dinner time may have been an attempt to create vibes however, this only caused irritation.
I’m not recommending this hostel in Munnar because the location are a bit off. There are more hostels that are located in areas of Munnar that’s very beautiful & you don’t need to take a tuktuk to see these things. My bed smelled a lot of sweat & just felt unclean, so I changed but still it felt unclean. The food was good but a bit expensive. The employees were quite off & not so involved. So if you are a solo traveler I’ll recommend you to stay somewhere else
It’s a chain and has no flexibility and they are very unacommadating. The buildings and dorms etc are really nice but it feels more like a hotel where fun is banned and they won’t order u a taxi unless it’s through the app at an extortionate rate

Private room (more like an apartment!) was really great with amazing views! Comfy bed and nice shower with toiletries. The views were great. The cafe feels a bit ”dusty” e.g. the some books had a ”sticky” layer on the cover and the menu qr codes as well. You can’t eat with a view since the windows are covered. Common area was so spread out that it was hard to socialize. There was a campfire and music on the parking lot in the evening. Food is a bit of a hit or miss.. Staff were helpful...
The food here horrible and overpriced especially considering you are isolated without other options. Everything else about the property is great and Rohit was absolutely amazing! He helped us with every concern and was extremely welcoming and friendly. I would come back just for his hospitality!

Très belle Hostel. Tous les services sont offerts sur place et la vue sur les montagnes est magnifiques !!! Le seul problème, c’est que l’emplacement est loin de tout..
All the services are offered on site and the view of the mountains is magnificent !!! the only problem is that the location is far from everything..
Great hostel, beautiful location but a bit out of town (It seems that’s the case for most Munnar hostels). Bonfires and singing or games every night, they can arrange Tuktuk for you if you want to go to town or explore the area
Loved being above the valley in a rural setting. Good food at the restaurant, great 4 bed dorm, ample space, comfortable with its own lounge are and balcony. Staff very helpful and friendly. Only concern is that it was 33 km from Munnar that took an hour to drive. If you are seeing places on the south side, basically on the road to Thekkady, then it’s fine but if you want to see the other side with many of the places you want to see in Munnar, it’s 2 hours round trip when there is no traffic...
I had a great stay here for 5 days. The place itself is very nice, but what really made the experience memorable was Muskan, one of the volunteers. She organized activities, games, and other engaging experiences that made the stay fun and lively for everyone.
alles sehr sauber. tolle Atmosphäre. Im Bad riecht es gut grosse Zimmer. Gerne wieder.

I had the most amazing time at Hosteller Munnar! Vishnu, the assistant manager, was just fantastic as a host. He was super friendly, always ready for a chat, and went out of his way to assist me with everything. His humility and good manners in handling all my questions and concerns were truly impressive. The main manager and the rest of the staff were also great. I wholeheartedly suggest this spot to any travelers seeking a tranquil backpacking experience in Munnar.
It’s a perfectly fine hostel but be prepared to be miles away from Munnar, which is fine, it’s just not ideal. Twenty minute walk to the bus stop which is a 35-45 minute drive into Munnar from there. Because there’s nowhere near it you’re stranded so have to eat there, the food is okay but using Glu is not - absolutely shambolic app. Not allowed to pay cash and always have to pay extra for a ‘convenience charge’; what a joke! Security drops a mark as my portable charge vanished whils...
Great Hostel in Munnar. Facilities are excellent and kept very clean. Lots of people there too staying which was great. My one complaint would be that (although the food is quite good) it takes a VERY long time to come - perhaps this is due to their online ordering system. That being said there are good places to eat nearby by taxi and for the price you pay for the room it's very good value. Would stay here again :)
everything was really nice, but they work with online service for food. that does not work well. we also had to wait ages for our food.
great hostel, clean and nice staff
The peaceful environment at the Hostel was really memorable. There are many activities like Tabletennis, boardgames, Fussball that one can do there. We would had loved to stay longer in Hosteller and want to come back in future!
Very good property in the midst of hills and close to nature and available at such budget price. Would love to revisit again. Would recommend a number lock for main door or shared lock something for safety of luggage, i know a small lock is provided but it very tiny below bed and can be broken easily.
Property was at very good location. Location was secluded from the city rush, but because of that had to spend a lot on reaching to the location, other than that staff was really good room gave a vintage vibe and the scenery from the location was serene. Bed was very comfortable. Suggestion in the room illumination can be more specially in the bathroom where you feel that it should be more bright, but only one yellow light was present there
I had a wonderful experience at this hostel. The views are just incredible. Definitely coming back soon.
Amazing location! Staff is really kind and accommodating! I really appreciate the restaurant, the views and the dorm!

I have stayed in hostels for many years. This one is really terrific and unique. It's like a hotel on the top of the valley with stunning views. It's really spread out and the cafe is large. The only minus was some of the food wasn't good. The paneer thali or north indian thali were lovely though and always a safe bet. Dorms are great, showers were warm. Both the staff and guests were friendly. There are photos of white privileged private school eton colonist knobs on the walls lol
